Hey fellow gamers,

While we've just rebranded and moved forums, our play-by-post forums have been around since 2003.

We've hosted lots of various play-by-post games including DnD, Pathfinder, Star Wars, Mutants & Masterminds, A Song of Ice and Fire, Legend of the 5 Rings, The One Ring (LotR), Hunter: The Gathering, Vampire, Serenity, Shadowrun, etc. You name it, we've probably ran at least one game of it.

We have a bunch of openings right now which you can find in our "Master Games List" link and we're always looking for good long term players. Most of the current openings are for Pathfinder games, since that's what most players prefer, but if there's enough interest in other systems and games, then there's a good chance a game of another system would be ran.

We have several GMs and if you're a GM wanting to run a game, then we usually require that you post a little or join a game so we can make sure you'll stick around before you start your own game (but it's on a case-by-case basis).

Can a non-Alchemist buy or use an Alchemist bomb? I don't see a price for buying bombs, so I'm unsure if it's purchasable. If an Alchemist party member gave the bomb components to another player, could that player use the bomb or are bombs restricted to only Alchemists?

Can an Alchemist of a lower level use an Alchemist bomb created by another player who's at a higher Alchemist level? Or can an alchemist only use their own bombs?


Hey all,

I really like the Lore Warden (Fighter) archetype and I'm planning on going that route starting with a high dex (17) and good con and int (14s). Picking up weapon finesse, focus, specialization feats w/Rapier (follower of Cayden Cailean). I was also planning on picking up Imp Trip and Imp Dirty Tricks feats.

I'm trying to see if I can multi-class with Gunslinger (pistoler type) and come up with a decent build.

I am considering a Human Lore Warden 9 / Gunslinger 3, so that I can get weapon training 2 for pistols at Lore Warden (Fighter) 9. Is 3 levels of Gunslinger too few?

Character for Pathfinder Society Organized Play (max lv 12)

Are there any considerations that I should look into for a build such as this? Or maybe different levels between the two classes such as Fighter:Lore Warden 7 / Gunslinger:Pistoler 5?

From reading through all of the scenarios, most encounters end with something like this:

Rewards: If the PCs [success condition], give each PC [gold amount] gp.

Does this mean, the NPC gives the players money when they finish the task or does that mean the players get rewarded at the end of the task by the Pathfinder venture-captain when I add the gold to their Chronicle?

Or do they get the gold at the end of each encounter?

It matters because the players could use the gold after first encounter to buy something versus not having any extra gold until the end of the scenario.

First Steps, Part 1, pg 16 wrote:

However, the dagger isn't listed on the Chronicle. Does this mean the adventures can keep the dagger after finishing the scenario? Or does the character(s) need to purchase it at the end of the adventure, if they wish to keep it? Is it treated like any other discovered consumable and vanishes at end of adventure?

If player doesn't have artisan tools, do they take the -2 penalty on craft roll for using improvised tools?

Does having purchased (masterwork) artisan tools grant circumstance bonuses as indicated in rule books?

Is there a module or PFS scenario that has a map of the Foreign Quarter? I've found a module (Seeker of Secrets) that has a great Pathfinder Lodge map, but I've been unable to find a published map for the Foreign Quarter.

Is there a map reference wiki page or thread that lists which non-encounter, reusable detailed maps (such as cities, districts, important places, etc.) are in which modules?

I'm a new GM running the First Steps scenario pack. In the last module, it has the players traveling 7 days over land (one way).

In Part 3, it says that if a player has a slower movement rate of 30 (assuming loaded movement and not base movement), then the NPC offers to rent them a pony mount so they don't slow down the group. It seems that the adventures have "7 or 8" days, so the group must travel at 30 to make this deadline.

* What should happen if the player(s) do not accept the pony mount rental fee?
* Which rulebook has the rules for rentals? I see the full purchase price in the core rulebook, but I can't find text on how much to charge for rental?
* Should I give rental for free?

Second, rations. In all of the games that I've played, everyone bought rations to make our character sheets look right, but none of the GMs have every required us to actually use them (I might have given some to a beggar once for gather info help, but I've never used rations for food). Is there a specific rule on this for Pathfinder Society game play? It adds up a bit (5 sp per day), so the players that spend 3.5gp for a week trip (one way) will (at level 1) will be less than players who play same scenario and don't spend that money.

* Are we (GMs) required to enforce this rule?
* Can I improvise and require players to have 7 days worth of rations, then just gift them a ration box to replenish their supplies at end, so that it doesn't affect their character gold?

Can I click on 'report' and fill out my player's names, IDs, etc. and save the information before/during the game? Then can I go back to edit and populate out the prestige points and the faction information after the game ends? Or do I only get 1 'save' to submit the session report?

We're playing First Steps (starting Monday, PbP) and I'd like to enter the player details and save the unfinished report ahead of time, before I actually submit the final results. Also, several players do not have a faction during First Steps, so I'll need to go back and update part 1 and part 2 when they figure out which faction they want to choose at the end of part 3.

The PF Guide says that some classes work better with some factions than others. I've also read that some skills are a better fit with some factions than others.

We're starting a brand new PF chapter and none of us have played with factions before. Does anyone have any tips on which classes and skills work best, okay, and not so great with which faction? I'd hate to see a player design his character around a specific faction just to learn that he doesn't have the right skills to be successful at his faction missions.

Here's what I've gathered so far:

Andoran: Diplomacy
Cheliax: Knowledge (planes)
Grand Lodge: ?
Lantern Lodge:
Osirion: ?
Qadiran: Diplomacy and Appraise
Sczarni: ?
Shadow Lodge: ?
Silver Crusade: ?
Taldoran: Sleight of Hand

Does this seem right? I know it's not a perfect match, but I'm just talking about general skills that align with most of the faction missions.

Hey all, another new PFS GM here with a few questions.

Do players see the scenario chronicle before the game starts that list each of the potential findable items or do they only see the chronicle after completion of scenario?

Do players know what the success conditions are for each scenario? (I'm not talking about in-character knowledge of being told to do this/that. I'm just talking about saying they need to successfully complete 3 of 4 things and what those 4 things are.)

I've asked two of the more experience Pathfinder/d20 GMs at my PbP site and I've gotten two different answers to this question. I've also googled around and seen different people do the calculations a bit differently.

Scenario:
Class: Fighter
Level: 1
Int: 7 (-2)
Skill Points: 2 + INT Modifier

The Rules:
#1: "your character always gets at least 1 skill point per level" Pathfinder OGC
#2: Favored Class option of +1 skill per level
#3: Humans receive +1 skill per level

The characters:
1: Non-human
2: Non-human w/favored class skill point
3: Human
4: Human w/favored class skill point

Option A: Doing class skill points first, then adding human bonus, then adding fav class bonus

A1) If non-human: 1 skill point per level
Math: 2 + (-2) = 0 = 1 min

A2) If non-human and uses favored class skill point: 2 skill points per level
Math: 2 + (-2) = 0 = 1 min + 1 favclass = 2

A3) If human: 2 skill points per level
Math: 2 + (-2) = 0 = 1 min + 1 human = 2

A4) If human and uses favored class skill point: 3 skill points per level
Math: 2 + (-2) = 0 = 1 min + 1 human + 1 favclass = 3

Is there a definite ruling on this other than home/local rules? I've searched everywhere, but I can't find out if the racial bonus and favored class skill point are added after the class skill calculation or during the calculation.
