Sho looks at Mara incredulously. "Proof? Do you think I would be in the service of someone I suspected as being a Sith Lord?" he states with indignity. "I am willing to do what is necessary to ensure the Empire survives. It is my duty." he offers, relaxing somewhat. "What I have are merely doubts that are eroding my confidence in having chosen the right path. Untruths that have festered and grown malignant in my mind. I have power in the Force, yes. It can calm me, true. But it knows nothing of right and wrong. It is the wielder who is fallible. The wielder who follows blindly. I simply don't want to walk into a situation having been duped into doing something against my morals. Certainly you can understand that. Count me in, Mara Jade, as one of your Hands. That is, unless the truth is not as it seems." he concludes.
Sho invites Mara Jade into his apartment politely. "No doubt you've heard of the latest infomation circulating about Starkiller. What is your take on this?" begins Sho. "Jedi are active but so are the Sith. We stand to bridge the gap as Kensae but things are no longer black or white. We've had accusations that the Black Sun is working directly with the Empire. We now have accusations tha the Emporor is a Sith Lord, or at least in league with the Sith. I struggle with these dilemmas. What guidance, if any, do you have to offer?" concludes the Kensae as he draws his hands behind his back in a pensive manner, staring into the unknown depths of space.
DM Barcas wrote: How's that? Tomorrow is the most important battle since the Clone Wars. Best be prepared. You're going to be going in hard. Everything is coming into place. Every piece of the puzzle will come into play, including one Sho forgot to mention: Mandolorians. DOH! Damn mercs. BTW, did we level at all before our last stand?
Sho listens to Katarn during the debrief but he was somewhat distracted. The search for 'answers' has only provided more questions. Black and white is fading to gray. Diehard loyalty remains but not quite as fervent. 'Is this what experience brings? Is this what it is like to get older?' muses the Kensae. As the meeting concludes, Sho excuses himself and excuses himself to his apartment. While there, Sho reaches out to the one woman who may have some answers - Mara Jade. He waits patiently for her reply before being called away to fight the forces arrayed against the Empire.
DM Barcas wrote: I'm getting my mindset ready to get started again soon. Just need a tad bit of inspiration! I just got some at Disney's Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. I went on the new Star Tours ride at Disney. Very cool 3-D showing with some cool stuff. Saw some jet-pack flying commandos on my mission. Sho needs to start using his!
Call Krassus wrote: I quite enjoy this one and it's been a load of fun. If you need to take a break, I can dig that. If you'd like to continue, I'd dig that too. I love this game. My plate has been super full, so my apologies on the slowdown on my end. I have a favor to ask if we are moving forward. If we are doing a big finale, can we bump up levels so it is an epic showdown? Level 5 or 6 taking on Starkiller has me worried. I have always wanted to play higher levels in Star Wars but haven't had the opportunity. I'm game for continuing at whatever pace.
Sho warily approached the waiting ship, certain a strike from General Kota's team was inevitable. He waited in vain, as the team boarded and departed without relative incident. "Good job team. I'm putting you all in for field promotions as I complete my report for command." utters the laconic Kensae. "I am proud of the work you all have done." Sho settles in and finds a quiet place to reflect and submits himself to the Force. Times have been trying lately. Competing loyalties and factions had his head spinning. The various Force groups vying for control of the universe was unsettling, to say the least. Discovering factions within factions was even more so. Sho had always seen things as black and white. There was no gray in his world. That was beginning to change and it bothered Sho more than anything they have come up against yet. He let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding and settled into a Force trance. He let go his feelings of fear and uncertainty. He let go his feelings of frustration. 'I am one with the Force. The Force is one with me.' he recited as a calming technique. He was simply glad to be a participant in the chess game that was evolving with the likes of Starkiller, General Kota, Tarkin, Thrawn, Jade, the Prince, and even Vader. He just worried that he was simply a pawn, recklessly abandoned or sacrificed for another's ulterior motives or desires. That he would not allow. He vowed to push himself to his limits and train harder, longer, better. He would be nobody's victim. With that he relaxed enough to settle into the bureacracy of filing reams of paperwork for the military. 'More cultists would be better than this.' he muses as he enters in their mission summary along with the recommendations for everyone on the team to recieve both promotions and commendations.
Urirawa wrote:
"Good work trooper." offers Sho as he follows the lead of the troopers out of the room and towards the exit of this accursed place.
"You'll have to cut the circuits after I suppress the energy caused by the link. Be delicate, though. This is why we are here." speaks Sho, motioning to Urirawa. "Call, Raal. Can you watch for General Kota and his troopers while we do this?" Upon confirmation from the others, Sho makes a motion and concentrates on the link. Use the Force Skill check = 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
Seeing Urirawa's massive swing deflected easily, Sho knew the Force was the best offense here. He picks the closest cultist up bodily and slams him into his comrade with tremendous force. Use the Force skill check for Move Object = 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28. Damage = 6d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 1, 4, 5) = 18. "Call - blast them both while they are grouped together!" orders the Kensae officer.
As the cultist is beheaded by Raal, Sho advances around the corner - his lightsaber in a defensive position. "If the Jedi master comes, then we use the thermal detonators. All of us. At once." offers Sho matter-of-factly. His desire to the mission is his focus but even he doesn't wish to tangle with a master of the Force - especially one that felled the dreaded Starkiller. OOC: Readied action to advance triggered by cultist death.
Sho hustles up near Urirawa, prepared to rush down the side corridor. There were more enemies positioned down the end of the hall. Sho considers rushing the trooper but thought it best to let Call rain death from his blaster. "Clear the nest Call." commands Sho, pointing down the side corridor. Move Action: Move 6 squares to I20.
Sho sees the enraged Starkiller coming at his team. Fear and panic would be appropriate but his training has taught him to rely on the balance of the Force. If General Koda wanted to play, Sho would play. "We are not your enemy Starkiller. The General has duped you with his Jedi mind trick. He marks you as a fool! He is your real enemy. He wants you distracted so he can take the holocrons for himself!" shouts Sho, ensuring that he is heard above the combat and through the haze of rage emanating from Starkiller. Sho touches on the Force and backs it up with what is destined to be. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Use the Force Skill check for Mind Trick=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31. Spent a Destiny Point to ensure it is an automatic success.
Sho leads the group into a headlong charge at the existing fray. His inexperience failed to take into account that the 'enemy of my enemy' didn't factor in when you blast both sides. He was just glad his command didn't cost the others and the fire was directed at himself. In his mind's eye he could see the path of the incoming blaster bolt. His instincts were split-second and a Force Shield popped up to deflect the blast. What he hadn't figured was the lethality of such a precise shot. Even with the erection of his most powerful shield he was scorched. Sho staggers a bit and draws on the Force to keep himself moving. Use the Force Skill check for Force Shield=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32. SR 20 shield erected. Force point 2/7 spent to increase SR by 5. Take additional 10 points of damage. HP now down 20 (33/54). Swift Action to take 2nd Wind, which gives +13HP. HP now only down 7 (46/54). "All bets are off. All targets are viable and must be neutralized. Don't hold back." barks Sho as he takes the wound in stride. His black-and-white morality cost him - he won't let it cost his team. "If you won't join us, then you will fall." shouts Sho as he steps up and blasts the two Rebels with a Force Slam. Move to E23. Standard Action to Force Slam. Use the Force skill check=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34. Damage=4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 6) = 17. Natural 20 puts the power back in my suite. The two rebels are blown back like leaves in a storm - their bodies crumpling and snapping. "Urirawa, take the Rebel by the side corridor if you can. Call - back your brother up!"
"Do or do not. There is no try." mutters Sho. He wishes for an easy path but that doesn't make it so. "Switch to a standard grenade and toss it at the Rewarded leading into the side path." Sho indicates to the others. "I will pave the way with a slam of the Force. Avoid the Rebels if possible. On me, now!" Sho rushes forward, hoping the others follow. Once the grenades are tosssed, Sho will do the following: "Rebels - Your General needs you. Fight to his position and we will meet you on the other side.' hoping the confusion of the battle will make them allies. Sho will then use Force Slam to pave a way initially if any Rewarded remain and enter the side passage.
Sho listens to Urirawa's suggestion but nods his head. "That would tip the balance of power to the dark siders." Looking at the map, Sho indicates the side passage filled with Rewarded. "That's where we need to get to but I would rather not destroy rebels when they can be tools for our purpose. I suggest we wait for the chance then break for the side passage. I am okay with sending the detonator further up so as to catch Rewarded. That would make for a nice diversion."
"The holocrons are the priority. Engage only as a means to secure the holocrons. Now where are they?" offers Sho as he scans the room for the location of the holocrons. He elects not to rush into the fray but instead take the opportunity to find the holocrons and use the Force to move them to their location if he can. 'We could use you Loreck...' muses Sho as he recalls his fellow Kensae. OOC: Willing to use a Destiny point to fast track finding and securing the holocrons. Really don't want to party with Starkiller or Koda.
"There is a possible Force user with this group. Seems the Republic is the recent group of visitors. I'd personally like to pay them back from their betrayal. Be alert, since they may have set traps like Urirawa did. Shall we follow them or back track and circumvent. What does the map show? Suggestions team?"
Sho moves to Urirawa and checks him over. Seeing the deep, cauterized slashes from the lightsabers and the obvious lack of protest from the wookiee, Sho knew it was bad. Providing the trooper lets him, Sho places a hand on his back. "Let the Force flow through you trooper." Use the Force skill check for Vital Tranfer=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27 Urirawa heals for 20 HP. I take 10 HP from the transfer. As he completes the process, Sho asks Call to do another inspection. "Trooper Call, make sure Urirawa is fit to continue. He took a beating for the team. We need to move quickly." Sho helps Raal inspect the area.
Sho readies his lightsaber. His lessons with Tyvokka are fresh in his mind. He suffered worse at the hands of his master - that is his mantra. Block the first strike=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 DC 23
The sounds of clashing lightsabers is loud in the silent chamber. Sho quickly blocks the two strikes with ease. "The Force is an ally, not a master." offers Sho, scolding the Rewarded for their obvious taint when using the Force.
An unearthly sound comes from Sho. Even his companions have not heard such a sound emitted. As the seconds tick by, the sound can be pieced together as a laugh, although it is quite distincitve and ethereal through a respirator device. "You are already dead, you simply don't realize it yet." quips Sho callously to the intruders. "Only through a balance can power be achieved!" With that, Sho maneuvers to blast as many as he can with a Force blast. Use the Force skill check for determining Force affliction=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26 Use the Force skill check for Force Slam=1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30. Damage from Force Slam with Force Point spent=6d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 5, 2, 6) = 21 Free Action - speak
Defenses Reflex 19, Will 19, Fortitude 16
Sho considers the valuable feedback from the troopers. He was not one to lead blindly or pridefully - he was always open for suggestions. "I agree with Trooper Call. If we haven't found anything here, let's continue on. Your ingenuity should keep them busy for a while. If we keep that up, we can use the time to search more. I would rather find what we are looking for and elude our pursuers instead." Sho will assist in the search of the room and then prepare to move on.
Call Krassus wrote: "On it, sir." Call takes a knee behind the party, scanning the hallways with his rifle at the ready. Sho follows suit with his lightsaber lit and at the ready. The lessons of Tyvokka would not be soon forgotten. His blade was a part of him - an extension of his being. A lightsaber and kensae were more than the sum of their parts - they served each other well in the Force. He keeps his keen eyes looking in the opposite direction of Call as the others kept up the subterfuge of the traps. "How much further until we get to the next destination?"
Sho is equally amused with the ingenuity of the trooper. He is better able to conceal his grin beneath his breathing mask. "I'm glad I'm with this group and not following behind." offers the officer. "Call, keep alert for any danger." warns the kensae. He didn't want everyone helping Urirawa and forgetting they are in a very hostile environment.
"Good work team." begins Sho as he calms himself and collects his thoughts. "That orb calls to the dark side of the Force. It is some kind of amplifier. When I used my Force ability, it attempted to manipulate me, tempting me to unleash my anger." "Be careful Raal, using your Force abilities. There may be more of these. Do you think we can or should destroy the orb?"
Sho moves into position to take on the charging dragon. The green light of his lit lightsaber eerily illuminates the dark room. The kensae pauses, waiting for the perfect time to strike the beast. Once it charges, he will blast it with the power of the Force. "Come on then sithspawn!" taunts Sho, goading it to charge him. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Move Action: Move so as to present myself as a target
Use the Force for Force Slam: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28 ; Damage 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 5) = 15 NOTE: I don't have my book with me. Not sure if I used the skill properly.
"You heard the message. That means trouble. We have a headstart but not much of one. Let's move quickly." Sho turns and quickly begins their quest into the structure. The goal is to get to one of the highlighted spots indicated on the computer, preferably the closest to their current position. OOC: Can we download this quickly and destroy the computer or would it take too long?
Sho uncharacteristically pulls out his lightsaber and ignites it. The green blade sheds a stark light as he moves forward into the building. "Agreed." is the only response to Raal - it's all business from here. They've worked together for a while now and trust each other to do what needs to be done.
Sho walks up the quartermaster. He lets the jibes go - it's his job to ration equipment and he's earned the right as a veteran to be surly. Provided he isn't disrepectful, he'll let it slide. I would like the following items, sliding his datapad across. -----------------------------------------------------------------
"If you have any issues, I can be reached by comlink in my quarters."
