About Shmoogie

Shmoogie (or Shmoog for short) is often mistaken for a halfling because he's not as colorful as most gnomes. He has unkempt brown hair, usually it just out in multiple directions as he seems to collect static electricity. He has neutral-colored green eyes that betray a spark of ... curiosity? ambition? madness? His mouth seems proportionate to his face when he doesn't display a facial expression, and so when he does his apparent emotions seem all the more extreme. His slightly browned caucasion-colored skin usually looks darker since with an exception of goggle-marks around his eyes he's usually covered in a thin layer of dusty alchemical residue from his bombs, infusions, and the cremated remains of his failed experiments.

Shmoogie doesn't remember much beyond his lifestyle of committing acts of science and running to new hamlets after the old one gets unreasonably violent. He's haunted with dreams of a disfigured gnome cooing to him in the proud manner a mad wizard coos to a freshly created flesh golem. Shmoog isn't sure who this disfigured gnome is, but keeps his eyes open for clues as to who he may me during periods of wanderlust and forced relocation, and keeps his eyes inward towards his fragmented early memories during periods of time where he has a lab.

When he's not trying to create the next owlbear, Shmoog is driven to bouts of wanderlust, where he often finds a place on a team of fools pillaging ruins or playing at being a hero, or some other nonsense. Besides satiating his wanderlust, this helps to fund his experiments, since selling the alchemical supplies he manufactures doesn't usually pay for the rare alchemical components his experiments often require. While he'll never admit it, working with other people curbs his loneliness and makes his dreams go away, and he rather likes the weird feeling of appreciation when his team's actions benefit others, and the whole adventure thing is getting rather addicting.
