About Shael_SHAEL CR 1/2
Appearance:
Shael's coarse black hair burns at the tips like dying ember's, constantly oozeing small amounts of greasy smoke as if her hair was truly burning. Her eyes glow in the dark but our normally a violet color in dim or brighter areas. Her skin is a dark tan and the rest of her features betray her daemonic nature along with the above she sports hooves, a long prehensile tail and ram like horns. She is unnaturally tall with an athletic build and she moves with a predator like grace when she walks. Beneath her clothes though she bares an infernal mark, a pentagram that was branded into her chest. Background:
Shael's birth was a mistake, a blasphemy and she should have been killed at birth. At least that's what she assumes her father is still ranting in his noble halls high in Sal Kavun. Truthfully if it hadn't been for his court wizard she wouldn't have lived long past her first breath. Shal'Kadun had been in her parents employ for many years and had seen in her something no one else did, he saw past the horns and the soft baby hooves. He saw a potential to harness a unique form of magic, one only those of infernal blood could touch. So he took the child as his own and struggled to keep her from dying, having to rely on magical means to keep her fed as no wet nurse would touch her. It became easier though as the years went on and she eventually proved to be an excellent student, taking to her lessons with an energy that reminded him of his days in the magical college. Shael wasn't easily controlled though, she enjoyed her studies, she also enjoyed stirring up trouble and eventually her constant rabble rousing started raising questions that neither her former parents or Shal'Kadun wanted. So her mentor took her to High Pass in the hopes, that such a place of diverse people and mingling cultures, that she would find some acceptance for her unique bloodline. There she continued her studies, surprising him in how easily she melded martial training and magical aptitude. She had down it in a way that he could never imagined. As she grew though her daemonic features became more pronounced and her mentor could no longer protect her from the world with simple cloaks and glamers. When her hair started to burn he started to research ways to hide her heritage, perhaps permanently. Around that time though was when her father decided to remove the black mark upon his family name and mere weeks after her seventeenth birthday a pair of assassin's came in the night and set upon them. One caught her sleeping, she awoke screaming when he branded her as her father instructed him to do before putting her down. Her mentor had been downstairs completely obliterating the second assassin when he heard her screams. Despite his terrible wounds he climbed the stairs to her room and engaged the last assassin with what little arcane might he had left. The Assassin sadly won the fight though, but was injured enough for Shael to barely overcome him. The branding had awoke the worst of her heritage and as her mentor took his last breaths she had snuck up behind the man and grasped him from behind. Within moments the last assassin was writhing in agony as she burned him alive, the brand had awoken the hellfire that had lay dormant in her body. When he was nothing more then a charred corpse she let him fall to the floor and proceeded to gather her things. Her mentor was dead, her home was a fiery ruin, so she had little time to recover what gear the assassin's had left and her own meager belongings before fleeing the only home she had ever known. It was that day she decided to strike back at her parents, hurt them in a way they would remember. By taking they're gold and hurting their trade. So she sought out to take on bounties, people hated her almost as much as the thugs but she had a few patrons who merely sicced her on street thugs, thieves and other criminal filth in the hopes that she didn't come back. A long running bet of how long she could last in a land that hated and didn't want her. Some found it ironic to be sending a half daemon to bring their enemies low. One great cosmic joke. So far though she has survived, constantly worrying about her father discovering she was still alive. Sadly she wasn't too hard to miss. Having horns and hooves made sure of that...
Personality:
After the hardships she suffered and the loss of her Mentor, Shael became more introverted and tends to stick with traditional and familiar experiences. As she pursues her own goals she avoids others because of her hated appearance and the fact she doesn't foresee herself surviving her suicide mission against her parents, namely her father. As a bounty hunter she is known by the few that have hired her as being organized and reliable, despite her unorthodox approach. She tends to shy away from social situations and avoids places known for crowds. Preferring dark corners and shanty bars to get her taste of alcohol, while avoiding attention. She remains calm and relaxed no matter what situation she faces, whether it be thugs or mobs out to lynch the daemon-blood she faces all these Normies with a cold calm.
