Shadow looked at everyone. "I am talking about evening the odds and we don't know the reason's why. Either way, do we approach and attack or in general let someone be "accosted" And have the rest of the group attack from surprise. Or systematically take them out or ignore? Just a heads up, since we are looking for a missing person he may be in there."

Sorry for the Delay

Reading again to catch myself up then I will post.

Indeed.

I will patiently await. I myself am running into the same scenario so that works for me.

Good luck and have fun.

GM...

Need a little clarification on who the leader is and if its mr. fancy pants.

"So Mr. Black and White, you know everything about that man just because he works with them. He obviously is a bad person just because he works with slavers. Hell, if you thought that why the hell am I here." She flashed him a toothy smile showing her longer than average canines. He could tell her tone was still light. "And is he doing anything illegal. For all you know they could be legitimate traders. Fat chance but still possible." She shifted. "We will never get any recruits if you don't give anyone a chance to redeem themselves." Frowns and looks down at the group.

"The right motivation can help anyone to change their ways."

Looking down. "Let's see if he separates himself from the others and I can talk to him. Or do you plan on going down there and challenging all nine of the others?"

Pets the hamsters.

Piroska, if you don't have anything to say you can put a simple post of her just stating. "Not my decision" Or "I got nothing to say."

Well Eric, Seems Shadow is going to call you mr black and white :P

Mew mew I'm here I was waiting for the others to post

"Well, the plan involves talking mostly. I feel like I could potentially reason with him. If I can get him to talk. I may even convince him to join us. He doesn't seem like he really belongs with the thugs and such. If I approach we may start a fight just because they are nervous. But I am sure we can try to recruit him if convinced. Korvek this may involve you splitting some skulls among other things."

Shadow said this simply and with a grin.

I am guessing the nice dress man wasn't part of the argument I over heard and is not the leader correct?

"Don't worry, I won't call you that Eric. It is her way of staying impersonal. You start calling people by names and not descriptors, you start to become more friendly. We could just call you M & M." Winks at him and the princess.

"Ah yes the plan. Well it goes like this..."

When the GM tells me the brilliant Idea I will pass it on

Yeah, I love Eevee's. I would love to see a dragon Eevee.

Ponyta and Rapidash hold a special place in my heart because my dad trains horses so I always liked them. When I first caught one he named the one in my first pokemon game after his best runner.

RAPIDASH!!! ^.^

She would describe the man to the Princess to see if she could aid her in figuring out his standing. Making sure to note about the Mantle with the yellow flags.

"I might have an alternate way to deal with him."

Moving back to the group she reported what she had figured out a shining gleam in her eyes. They recognized this look. She wanted what they had and was going to try to convince them to help if they could come up with a good plan.

Figuring it was best not to press her majesty she would continue on. Guess she really did have a stick somewhere where the sun didn't shine. Someone needs to teach her to loosen up a little. Shadow understood the weight she held on her shoulders but it didn't mean she couldn't be at least friendly.

Seeing the group she motioned for her own group to stay back and would slink into the shadows. One thing you learn on the streets was how to conceal yourself to eavesdrop.

Without breaking stride she moved into the underbrush quietly to move close enough to listen.

YAY! Can't wait.

As they traveled she whistled and looked at Ellian. "Ellian, what languages do you know? I love collecting languages to learn to speak and write. Maybe we can trade in languages. I teach you one, you teach me one? It's one of the few shared passions me and my birth mother have in common." Smiles pleasantly and seeing a local vendor up and about early she gave him a wink. Continuing on, once he was out of earshot she would continue.

"This goes for any of you if you want. I know Abyssal, Aklo, Celestial, Draconic, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Gnome, Halfling, Infernal, and Orc."

Im still here, I think things are a little slow due to personal life things.

Shadow gathered her things and yawned slightly but smiled at Eric.

"Thanks sweetheart." She said as she walked out. Looking around the crisp cool air made her a little more alert. "Well, lets head out to the dungeon and see if we can rescue the poor fellow."

Shadow would take the notice and bring it with her when she headed back into the guild.

"Looks like someone got lost in a small dungeon halfway between Arenstone and Zelnite. Seems like a simple enough job for us to do on the way and give us a decent cover half way there."

Looking at the Princess then Piroska. "Thank you Piroska for clarifying what I was asking." Smiles sweetly and looks at the Princess.

"Ellian, it is a beautiful name. Well Ellian welcome to our guild. We haven't even named it yet so maybe you can help us come up with a brilliant name as its newest member." Her voice was lighthearted and teasing. "Now, is everyone ready to go?" She asked as she moved into the bunk room gathering her own things quickly.

Thats okay, I was the same way. Weekends are always slow.

Shadow smiled listening to the Princess babble. She probably didn't often get to talk without worry about what political ramifications happened with it. Her knowledge skills would come in handy as would anything she could bring to the table.

"Yes, thank you Eric. It was very welcome as was the tea. Korvek I could easily see you entering the Arena. Wonder if they do team battles." Smiles sweetly.

"Well, honestly if you are one of us then you should fight along side us. But if things get to deep then we will tell you what we need you to do to keep you safe. I actually bought supplies for you also. Two weeks worth so that can help us. We have extra incase anything happens. I will go tell the stables we won't be needing the horses and check the board, but first." She stood and stretched before looking at the Princess.

"Now that everyone is up and fed let us actually introduce ourselves. Since you are part of our guild now it benifits you to know our names. I am Shadow Silvertongue." She sticks out her tongue and the princess realizes it was a dull silver color. "A moniker from my actual silver tongue and ease at which I pick up languages." She motions to Korvek. "Korvek the Unyielding, the muscle in our group. He is a sight to behold when he fights." Motions to Piroska. "Our beautiful Piroska, our healer. We owe our lives to her because of her skill." Motions to Eric. "Our expert on magic is Eric here. I am sure you will be able to have very fascinating conversations that will go right over my head. I am sure you already know but it feels better to make introductions nice and proper. What shall we call you?"

After she got the answer she would smile and nod and heads into the barracks to get dressed before heading out to cancel the horse order and to check the notice board for any jobs between here and their destination.

Do people want the horses or No?

When I get home I will put up the google excel sheet with our initial income and the cost to supply us for 2 weeks. I know I had a bit to invest into the place and I got:

Eric Monroa: 177 gold
Korvek: 48 gp
Shadow Silvertongue: 430 gp+

Piroska how much do you have to contribute

The plan is to have a loot tab, Guild tab and individual tabs for you guys so you can easily keep track of your stuff all in one place.

Shadow looked at the others and smiled. "I will check the board. So are we walking or riding? If riding I can have the horses brought here." Pushes some food to the princess.

"If their is a job on the way there we can do that and bring in some more coin. Also solidifies her cover."

Stretches putting up her make up munching on bacon.

"I got supplies for two weeks for each of us. Arranged the horses if we still wanted to use them."

Shadow laughed looking at the Princess. "I'll give you credit you have balls. Don't take offense this is a compliment. My mother would love you. I have no ill intentions as of yet so no worries there."

She was well aware of the map in her handy haversack but she thought it best not to mention it just yet. Learn more and then she can make a decision. Providence was a strange beast it seemed. The luck, or curse of the gods was with them. 'May we live in interesting times.'

"Suit yourself. I am more cautious than you are." Shrugs and sighs. "Have I once said you were incapable. I am sure you are. You would be trained by the best. I was stating that the image you present makes you stand out if people look you over."

Watching Korvek walk around she chuckled and then seeing Piroska she would pour her some tea. "Yes indeed. Here is some tea Piroska. Come warm your bones and wake yourself up." Smiles warmly at her.

Turning her attention back to her as she decided to share. Leaning foward she would study the stone. "Do you mind telling me the parts of the legend you do know? History is not my specialty, nor is legends. Though I can tell you almost anything about the city."

Shadow chuckled lightly looking at her. "Oh you are a princess alright. Well first things first. Your hair and eyes are a dead give away. Hair we can dye. That's easy I have plenty. The diamond crab stands out but is very beautiful. Wizard spell book with the armor also kinda clashes but there are Magi called Magus's or some such thing that do the same. Over all it is pretty good for a basic disguise. Also, how you talk but that is okay. I can easily attribute that to you being a spoiled daughter to an aunt of mine if anyone asks." She teases lightly obviously just poking fun a little.

"The backpack is well tailored but a couple of rags and a little dirt can conceal that on a passing glance. I will look at the board and see if there are any jobs on the way. That way we can see if there is anything to do. We figured hiring out horses could work but if you are up for it walking would probably be best for disguise."

Looking at her she smiled and leaned back. "So what changes are you willing to make?" She said putting down her make up brushes.

Shadow moved and opened the door. "Yeah, you don't stand out at all." She drawled and moved back to letting them in. "Come on in to our humble abode. Breakfast will be served in a little bit." Shadow was still in her nightgown, her feet bare.

Once they were in she would close the door. "Yeah, we will expect a lot of bandits on the road with you two looking like that. Give me a second to get dressed and we can talk properly." She waves them towards the table and heads back to her room changing and grabbing her disguise kit as she heads back into the common area looking a bit more presentable. Her pale skin and eyes hinting at her ancestry.

"So tell me what you have planned in your mind since you seem to know what you want to do. Then we can tell you whether or not it will work for what you are wanting." She casually applied her make up as she looked at them.

Out the window first then open the door if it looked ok. Unless our door has a view thru area then look thru that

Shadow would get up and yawns heading to the door and checking outside to see who it was. It was still dark so she didn't have trouble seeing. It was a good thing she didn't wake up grumpy.

If everyone wants I can be the money manager for the Guild. I like numbers and am pretty good with Excel.

As for Night Life, that is Shadow's thing but she would be more preparing for the trip instead of going out.

I think it is easy to hand wave us getting supplies and getting ready for the trip.

"Plan for the worst hope for he best." She said. "Alright if everyone will get me a list of things they need I can get shopping out of the way for gear and horses. Unless you each want to do that individually. I figured split up for the major purchases to get more ground covered."

"What concerns me is the contradiction. She said by herself and yet her father said escort. So expect more than just one person. What I would suggest is we talk with someone to rent or buy horses and ask them to have them ready for us in the morning. That way if she comes with some it is one thing but if not we can go with the walking. Since we are not able to talk with her about details means we have to adapt."

Shifts and stretches. "I hate people that have no respect on all it takes to do our job. Simple planning goes a long way towards preventing mishaps. How far by foot is the trip? So we can get food supplies and the like?"

Shadow kept her peace and nodded curtsying to the two as they left. Her eyes wondered over the guard and she gave him a warm smile before turning to the others and would nod.

She would head out things clicking into place slowly as she looked at the others. Once they were out she would head to their guild house knowing there was much to discuss.

One of the main things that was actually job related was whether or not to get horses.

Once everyone was in she would close the door and locks it looking at them.

"Alright what preparations do you all wish to make? I for one normally walk where ever I go so I don't have a horse. Though I have some loose change I can probably scrounge up one or a wagon."

Shadow knew that this was going to be a difficult mission. A client that refused to listen to reason or even discuss enough that they know at least what to expect her to even be carrying was going to be an extreme pain.

"Since you wish not to discuss specifics expect our departer to be delayed then. We have preperations that we must discuss amongst ourselves after we leave your presence since you wish the matter to be dropped." Raising her hand before a protest could be uttered. "I am being realistic and truthful. I thought it best you be prepared. There may not be a delay but expect one."

She looked at the others. "This friend of yours in Roughcut Village. She is a historian?"

I also didn't mark that roll in my post as diplomacy. I am guessing that 28 didn't get anything?

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Shadow stepped forward surprisingly regally and she moved between the Princess and Piroska breaking line of sight.

"Your Highness, my companion meant no offense. Her blunt reaction is her way of showing her concern for your well being and wanting to assess all threats we may encounter. Bandits are one thing but nobles can hire all manner of threats so we must be prepared with information on who is most likely to strike and how.

Secondly, threatening those you wish to hire with death threats puts a Princess of your standing in a very poor light. We ask what we may be paid for we have been cheated before by those of the nobility who used similar threats. I know you are a far greater noble than them and beg that your ire at my companion not cloud your thinking into stooping into such tactics.

Thirdly, not knowing the way you wish to take nor having a good map does not help us in assisting you in this matter. Not letting us have a say in how you are disguised nor how we will travel together is tantamount to suicide. Also, once we accept this job you must understand you will have to follow our orders for your own safety. One headstrong moment can get yourself or one of my companions killed. While loosing my companions would cause me to grieve, the country would truly be stricken by your loss and would not be able to recover. This is our job. Let us conduct it properly for your own safety. Our own Honor and name is at stake should we fail.

And lastly, may we know of the friend you wish to visit? Knowing more specifics could help us guide you on a safer route, or a route that would rise less suspicion among other mercenaries."

Shadow smiled and looked at Korvek leaning over to whisper to him. "Our other job is easy and can be accomplished while we are escorting her majesty." It was after all just a protect the item mission. As long as they had the map they were protecting it.

"Your majesty, is this an overt or covert movement on your part? If it is overt you will surely attract much attention.

Secondly, though you say you will award us handsomely, it will be nice to know the exact amount of payment for the job or a good approximation. I do not doubt you would be able to pay but it helps to know more of how much to expect in payment. Loyalty to the crown may be some's calling, payment tends to be where a mercenaries loyalty lies." Shadow says honestly and smoothly. Considering all the double talk from earlier she figured refreshing honesty would be a nice change of pace. She also didn't want to start another job and not know how much they would get paid would be. It was no way to start a mercenary guild. Not getting paid.

Local: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Local: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Local: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Linquistics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Shadow calmly watched the interaction. There were things she could learn from this woman, and even the nobles. Pattern's of speech, little tics as they talked. All information she could file away for later.

Eric approached first and she kept quiet as he bowed and spoke. An amused tug of her lips showed her approval for Korvek's comment and she indeed knew he would use it later. The matter was when and how amusing it would be.

Her mind turned to the matter of papers. Indeed there could be a profit with these issues between nobles. Even more if it was a request from the Princess to help solve definitively the argument. But that was not here nor there.

Her eyes turned to the King and she eyed him and the Princess. Best to reserve judgement for now and see what the request was.

Shadow chuckle at his response knowing it to be in a way true for them all. Taking his hand she jerked him to her and gave him a quick hug.

"Now let us get going. We have a Princess to see. I love giving you a hard time." She would straighten her clothing and pulls the hood down to shade her eyes slightly. While she wasn't light sensitive, her eyes still stood out a bit. Make-up could hide skin, dye, hide hair but she hadn't found anything to disguise her eyes.

Looking at the others she would step outside and make sure the guild was locked up before heading across the square and towards the castle. When stopped by the guards she would present the letter from the Crown Princess.

Sighs looking at the two of them. "We should go meet her Highness like we are supposed to. Now, while I am all for figuring out what it is. We were asked to guard it. Motive or not you just sound like a greedy adventurer instead of a mercenary if your talking about fighting someone who hired us to guard something. I swear. I have to agree with Korvek. If she comes back then we can make that offer." Sighs and pulls her hood over her hair and reaches for the map sticking it in her handy haversack.

Eric would have had time with his spell.

"Let us go see what the Crown Princess is before we give her the worse impression possible. I mean no insult Eric, but you seem quite eager to hold onto it. You sure there isn't a greed enchantment on it?"

"Indeed, we will not hold motives to mess with a job." She said with as smile of amusement at the comment about them being fresh meat.

Taking the paper she nods. "We will keep it safe." Watching her walk off she smiles and closes the door.

"No haggled price and an interesting couple. This must be very important. Any magic on it?"

With a smile she would move to the door and open it. "Indeed, may we help you?"

Standing at 5'10", her appearance was well kept and her silver blue eyes caught many by surprise at first glance. She wore light make up, only what was needed to augment her appearance and nothing more. She smelled faintly of rose oil to the discerning nose.

I apologize I must get sillyness out too :P

Shadow read all the notices that were on the board and would head back to the guild spotting the others coming in. Well it seemed it was time to see who all had come in. Touching a dyed lock of her hair she would head back. Her eyes scanned the crowd, luckily she was a little taller than the average human and it let her scan the crowd easier. This place really did give them a good position.

Heading inside she would smile seeing Eric, Korvek, and Piroska.

"Ahh, hello you three. So how do you like the accommodations so far? I can tell you for information gathering and shopping for items we will need we are in the perfect location. Right across from the palace also gives us prominence and more visibility. So we have to do well. That being said what will we call our guild?"

Shadow grinned looking at the papers, enjoying the feel of them in her hands. She was early it seemed. All the better. Heading inside she would look around and carries her things to the bunk room. Seeing the stone beds she sighed and would claim one in the middle of the room. She didn't want to be right next to the door but she wanted to be close to the door.

Plopping her bag down she would pull out her bedroll and blankets and draped it across the bed. The storage chest she looked out seeing if it had a clasp to put a lock on it. She would spend the money to get a good one.

Walking around she examined everything in detail cataloging it and storing the information. At least one person would love all the stone. Once settled she would head outside to wait on the others and to watch the bustling square. They were in a perfect location. Lot's of traffic, close to the palace and near enough to all the major stores that they could shop to their heart's content.

Seeing the billboard she would walk over and check it out seeing if there was any posting.
