Name: Chakkersnack
Race: Gnome in spirit, definitely not a goblin
Classes/levels: Witch (Havocker)
Adventure: The Half-Dead City
Location: The House of Pentheru
Catalyst: Sticking his head into a Centipede's 'mouth'
The Gory Details:

Spoiler:
Having cleared the east wing of the garden, the group opted to check the west before entering the manor proper. Chakk took interest in the dried pool, and rushed ahead to get a closer look. Was brought to the brink of death in the surprise round, then topped the initiative list.

I'm using an unusual stat-rolling method, geared to ensure high stats, but not ideal distributions. While I have scaled everything up, this is mostly because I am running a 6-player game.
I don't think a superior point-buy is enough to require scaling, and if you do feel the need, I'd suggest against using the same method for every encounter. Try scaling through power, numbers, situation, etc. Sometimes letting an enemy engage under their preferred circumstance is all it takes

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thanks for the vendors everyone.
The party wound up spending most of their time with the food vendors, and I avoided having the croc guy arrested for sacrilege by declaring his meats bootleg.
As I thought, they used their choice of merchants as a way of introducing character details, so this was a helpful resource

Hi all,

I shall be starting a fresh game tomorrow, and my instincts tell me that my players will wind up probing into the merchants and vendors who are supposed to turn up to the lottery.
I've looked at the notable city locations, but I'd also like some suggestions to populate a list - ideally enough for a d20 roll
Looking forward to your ideas

Would depend on the GM ruling, I guess, but since a Wizard Abjurant champ doesn't need to prepare in advance, a Sorc should be fine.

If not, I believe there is both a feat and an alternative feature to do that
