Sinbad is rolling in allies and adoring fans. Fist of all he's a famous duelist, and anyone who pays attention to tournament dueling will be a fan. I'm guessing that's mainly nobles and some upper middle class, as in the kind of people who can afford to go to sporting events and other duelists. Second to that are the young nobles that he tutors privately and their parents. Those people mainly just like him but wouldn't stick their neck out. He's loved by the poor. Because of his charity anyone in Old Korvosa who's spent a week hungry has probably been to his free meals on Sundays, and being the poorest district that's most people. He always has some space in his dojo to let urchin children sleep too. If he was attacked on the street you can bet many homeless people around, even children, would intervene or at least yell for help. The guard has a fondness for Sinbad too. He makes donations several times a year, which the higher ups like, and he encourages his students to join the guard so many newer guard recruits have heard of him at least. Finally the ones who are most loyal are his students, some students who have been with him a long time are his trusted allies. They know about both his identities. The Baron of Brevoy is a different story. He's not nearly as social as Sinbad. The guard knows of him and likes that he has a reputation for not killing. The Baron's favorite move when he sees someone in need is to disarm the assailant, knock them down, then scare them away. Other than Sinbad's trusted students the Baron has not gone out of his way to make any friends. * Who the vigilante enemies are? is the guard actively opposing them? Which kind of criminal despise you the most? Spoiler:
Sinbad and The Baron are both liked by the guard. They're both disliked very much by the crime organizations that prey on the poor. That is to say, the thieves guild wont have a problem with them, but The Baron is known for stopping petty and violent crime, and Sinbad fights hunger and hunger is an easy way to control people. The kind of criminals that despise him the most are the kind like Gaedren Lamm who try to manipulate and control children. The Baron of Brevoy is a vocal defender of the innocent, and even if a child does bad things they're innocent at heart since they don't know any better. The military academy headmaster doesn't oppose Sinbad but has a dislike for having students that are already trained to think a certain way. More than once a top tier honors student has chosen to become a guard rather than a sable company ranger because they came from Sinbad's school. Vencarlo Orisini, the owner of Orisini fighting school dislikes Sinbad. Sinbad is his biggest competition for noble students. There's also a rivalry between Fight schools in Korvosa. This extends beyond Orisini's school and Sinbads, since Korvosa is full of fighting schools. The Baron of Brevoy has made a name for himself as an enemy of certain noble families who either carelessly or intentionally hurt the poor.
* One extra magic item. Something small and flavorful. Like a 0 level spell item, or 1 level with limit of uses. Spoiler:
On the coronation day of the current king (or maybe it was the last one) Sinbad entered the coronation dueling tournament. He won that tournament. The prize for first place was a brooch in the shape of a rapier. Once per day the wearer of this brooch may cast Dazzling Blade. * One secret. That sometimes come easy, and sometimes comes hard. Spoiler:
Sinbad has a bastard. 13 years ago, before he had opened his school, Sinbad was at the height of his dueling career. It was the first time a noble, John Fairfax, had approached him to tutor their child. While he taught the noble son Harry Fairfax he also seduced the mother, Dianne Fairfax. She was a beautiful woman. She raised Sinbads son, Danny Fairfax, as part of her family without her husband finding out that the boy was a bastard. - Sinbad knows about his bastard. - Dianne no longer talks to Sinbad. - John and Harry never found out that Dianne had an affair. - Danny does not know he is a bastard. - Harry now helps teach at Sinbad's School. - Harry knows Sinbad is The Baron of Brevoy. (even came up with the name himself) - Dianne does not know that Sinbad is The Baron of Brevoy. - Danny just started attending Sinbad's school. - John does not do bad things to poor people however; - John is in business partnerships and friendships with some people who do and thus; - John considers The Baron of Brevoy a sworn enemy. * One Business, organization, etc. Spoiler:
Sinbad runs several organizations all under one business. The Swordsman's Sanctuary. The businesses are a sword fighting school, private tutoring, a battle arena, a free clinic, a charity organization, and his own security crew. He is also a part of a tournament dueling organization, though he has no input into how the organization is run. He just pays dues, gets newsletters and notifications of tournaments etc. He is part of a lobby group of several people who donate to the guard, and comes in once or twice a year to argue for more guard presence in Old Dock and Bridgefront. The relationship between the lobby group and the guard captain is polite. Every year they're told that the guard is already doing what it can, and they continue to donate money anyways. The group isn't really looking for change, just looking be a constant reminder.
* District - Base of operations. Spoiler:
Sinbad's School is in Old Korvosa in the Garrison Hill neighborhood. The Baron of Brevoy's territory is Old Korvosa, and he is recognized up in the shingles. (with Great Renown is it fine for me to have that as my second community? I figure if Korvosa has a population of about 18000 over 7 districts, plus shingles, the academy and vaults as unofficial districts. that's ten. We probably shouldn't count Greys or Vaults for population distribution. 18/8 = 2.25 or about 2000 per district, plus 2000 remainder to spread to grays, vaults, thief camp and the castle) Feel free to change the names that I have made up, such as the Fairfax family, to suit your needs, and let me know if everything's okay or if you want me to change anything.

Also Qot, cool idea putting your passive stats in the class box so it shows without opening a new page. I hope you don't mind if I take that idea. |
