About Selena Starmantle
Note: Check the Homepage URL for character sheet, it's much cleaner than anything I could have on here. Umbrea is her familiar.
Born in the kingdom of Nidal, Selena had a childhood like any other. However, her considerable intelligence brought her to the attention of the shadowcasters, the native wizards of Nidal. She chaffed under their strictness, and was bothered by their behavior.
She eventually joined a group of heretical Nidalese inside the school that worshiped the empyreal lord "black butterfly", seeing in her a positive incarnation of shadow. In this place she found companionship & appreciation, but still she felt no comfort. Learning of these things made her feel even more disgusted in herself, and her tacit acceptance of the state of Nidal.
Hearing of the redemption of the former runelord Sorshen, she felt compelled to flee her hopeless homeland, and maybe one day find the redemption that Shorshen seems to have obtained. She has now studied at the academy many years, and while she is still feels guilt for fleeing her homeland, she seeks better days.
