Sekiro was a child from Goka who ran away from home tagged along with a caravan that was traveling to Willowshore. This was the same caravan as Elizeth Candora, future priestess of Willowshore, when she visited as a child. They connected as children on this trip and it was Elizeth that gave him his first flute that they occasionally play together now that they have met again as adults.
Sekiro was homeless for a good portion of his childhood living without a home and angry about his situation. It is only in recent years that he's been able to start put some pieces together, put a roof over his head, and start enjoying more of what life has available.
