I'm in the process of building them each as a single gate human/tiefling fire or water kineticist.

My game's party is still wandering the Greenbelt so I have some time before I introduce them to figure out party skills. Was thinking of something archaeology, hireling, or deception related but haven't put a ton of thought into it yet.

single gate makes sense to me, it's what I went with for Kalikke. I decided to go with dual gate fire/earth for kanerah though leaning into the magma theme of the synergy there.

for their ancestries they are both human tieflings but i thought having one lean into tiefling more could also be a fun parallel. drawing from how they act in the crpg and kanerah being more accepting of her infernal father i thought it would make the most sense for her

With full access to kineticist out and available, how do you fellow gms plan to build the twins? will they be single gate kineticists or will they diversify, do you make them both fire/water and have them pull from each others powers? do you dislike kintecist and want to keep them as sorcerers?

as a follow up, do you plan to have them teach the party something else in lieu of their blast spells

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Who: Ash, the anadi witch
When: Book 2, Asanda's manor
How: as soon as the party opened the doors to "asanda's" room he reacted quickly and decided to try and even the odds immediately. unfortunately for the party after 2 bad saves and no hero points left for that player a phantasmal killer sealed away her fate.

that should work well as long as they are okay with taking on the extra load of playing said companion, Harrim, Ekundayo, and Nok-Nok could work as well though if your players feel like they don't have many options. If not having a quest for the companion makes you unsure you can always pull some of thier "quests" from the crpg, all the companions have some good story from there.
Pulling quests from the video-game is a good idea, thanks! DO you think it would be better if I play the NPC? I am a bit worried that it turns into too much of a DMPC

i play the npcs for my group whenever someone cant make it to a session or if that npc would want to tag along for whatever it is that the players are heading to do. i think that makes it easier on the players, but some players prefer having more to do and would like juggling multiple characters so i think its worth asking them and seeing what their thoughts are.

I may not be a player for SoT but i do have some players enjoying their time. so ill share for them since none of them frequent these boards. I also allowed the free archetypes to be anything i thought fitting of the magambaya or to be anything if they main class wizard/druid.

my first player is playing Ash, an Anadi witch/druid. pull to the school by an unknown force and the guidance of her patron she hopes that this unexpected turn of event s for her plays out well.

my second player is playing Izruuk the Lizardfolk druid/barbarian. after being pushed away from their home by the Terwa lords they fled to the magambayaa hoping they could enroll there and find a new purpose in life, on their way to magambayaa they rescued a raptor from drowning and the two have been traveling together since.

next up is kendral the Elf wizard/Psychic after realizing that he was gifted with magical aptitude he hoped that he could study and learn even more if properly trained, so he traveled to the magambaya in hopes of learning all he can.

lastly I have Zera the Catfolk summoner/Alchemist, not really sure of why her angelic friend Zero always comes to her aid in times of need she hopes to learn more about how and why he does, and maybe to learn how to make some cool things in the process.

I'll share the party I'm dming for. they have also all been allowed the gmg free archetypes.

the party starts with failbhe the Elf witch/familiar master who grew up in the wilds of the stolen lands and had taken a bit of the first world with him as a result (fey influence feat chain).
next up is Rix the ghoran Wild druid/champion of Desna, who hopes to turn the untamed wilds of the stolen lands into a peaceful place for the the rest of his ghoarn siblings to reside and possibly even find a way to make more of themselves.
Their ruler is Haruka kinoshita a half-elf fighter/bastion that wants to protect as many people as she can.
last but not least is Mr. toad the nomadic grippli gunslinger/beast gunner, after traveling for quite some time picking up interesting techniques and tools from across the lands they hope to make a place where they can finally settle down

My wave five package arrived with no issues. thank you for your kindness Steve
