I was reading the judge bios and I see that Peter has taken on film study and is interested in making films for gamers and gaming fans. This is my personal request for any filmmaker when it comes to bringing the popular gaming genre to the silver screen. This is totally subjective. Here are my TOP 2 DRAGONLANCE - One of the better stories in my gaming history. I loved the novels, loved the old AD&D DL series of adventures and would love to see this made into a live action movie series. I always thought this story could be an epic film series ... ala....Lord of the Rings. please ... do not mention that crappy animated garbage, with Keifer's deadpan delivery of Raistlin's spells. It was unwatchable to me. BATTLETECH - why hasn't anyone secured the rights to this series of epic novels and seriously popular tabletop miniature game? In 1986 I bought the beginner box set and immediately got hooked. CGI has come a long way to pull off a live action telling of one of the classic stories ... Grey Death Legion, Wolves on the Border (my favorite) or Mike Stanpole's Warrior series.
whatever happened to the old adage "Less is More"? So many items with a verbosity that only Charles Dickens or Edward Lytton could be proud of. I have seen a ton of items over 280 word count and it seems that they could have been more concise and still got the point across. just an observation ... good luck all
This may be the wrong place to post this thread, but I have a question about Pathfinder Modules. Are all of the non-AP stand alone modules all 3.5/OGL? Are there any stand alone modules written for Pathfinder rules system and not 3.5? I am trying to bridge a gap between the end of an AP and getting the group to 20th level before we shelf them for a while. If there are any PAthfinder Modules, can someone suggest any at level 15+ ? I can write my own adventures to get my group to 20th, but i am interested in seeing what is available. Thank you
Does anyone know if there is an alternative method to awarding XP on an individual character by character basis? I persoanlly do not like shared XP, where the slugs in the party get the same as the truly active members, especially those that go above and beyond simple hack-n-slay techniques. I have not tried a true search as of yet ... was hoping someone might have created one or know of one, before I start my quest or create my own.
Voting has done me a seriously painful service ....I thank the judges for these glimpses into the designs of others. I thought I had a nicely balanced and themed item (no more info than that), but I see
If I happen to pass on to the next round, despite my minor technical errors, I will take these lessons with me. I do know that I will be better next year for sure, should I fail this year. Good luck to all.
I read somewhere in the long list of threads leading up to the voting that you would have to do a hefty some of voting to see the same item more than once. The possibility also existed that you may even be able to view your own submission ....what I am finding strange is that I have voted about 15 or 20 times since yesterday and in that very short amount of instances I have seen 3 seperate items twice. Is this supposed to correct ...... I get the voting method and each item has been paired with a different entrant, I originally though I must of hit the back button and was revoting on a pair. Just a curiosity
Could it happen that you are in the voting booth and behold two items appear and one is very familiar. One you know very well because you submitted it. You try to stay objective , you scan your submisssion and giggle a little at what you think is a very clever creation. Before you auto-vote "keep", "awesome", "fabulous" or whatever the appropriate thumbs up button will be, you read the opposing submission. You start out with a snork, then a sneer, then ........ OMG ......... This item is freaking great. Yours pales in comparison. What do you do? First off ..... Will that even be possible?
Is it bad form to ask how many possible entries will enter the general voting? Am I understanding the process correctly that the general vote will supply the judges with 64 and they will choose the top 32 from that select group? Can we have a ballpark figure of total entries to be voted on? If that is a no-no I withdraw the request. I have seen in other threads where Sean has stated some entries are already DQ'ed .... Is that just easily noticeable mistakes ..... Like word count infractions or plagiarism that get the pre-vote boot?
I was reading a few posts on another thread and I am slightly confused.... Is the Word Count Tool provided accurate? I read where some say keep your work to 250 words and you'll be OK and another says 290 and you should be alright....Am I to take from this that the Counter is not completely pinpoint accurate? Can someone clarify that point for me. Thanks.......
The contestant is given a month to draft and refine a wonderous item, I like the time frame, but I am curious about the successive rounds. What is the idea behind just 3 days to produce all entries leading up to the final four who get a week to submit an adventure proposal? Is it not true that the actual parameters of the later rounds are not revealed until the winners are announced? Is it to deliver the pressure of deadlines to the contestants? just curious why? once again i have not read every post....so this mayy have been covered as well....sorry for any redundancy. Thanks
I will be submitting for the first time....just something i have seen over the past couple of years and thought that I would take a stab at it. My Question: Does it matter at what level the adventure is designed? Do the judges prefer low, mid or high-powered adventures? or... Is it based solely on the imagination, content and playability of the adventure? Thanks....
Howdy all.... I have a general question about Damage Reduction (DR) and though I have been playing D&D for many years...i am fairly new to D&D 3.5 and DR. The Gargoyle Quotoctoa has two seperate DR values...one is of course innate (DR 10/magic) and the other is a function of his crown (DR 5/Adamantine). I have read the DR rules in the DM's guide and i have to say that I found it under-explained. The way i understand it is that DR is basically used againt all normal or natural non-magical attacks and that magic can overcome any DR...so long as it meets any special circumstance refered to after the slash.... the only thing I am having a problem understanding is ...if magic does overcome all DR...then why put "magic" after the slash? Wouldn't that be considered common knowledge and redundent? I feel that I do not have a handle on the true workings of DR....can someone please help me to understand it completely? Example:
Thanks for any help anyone can give. |
