@ Elton, Yeah, I think everyone was waiting on you setting the scene... Are there guards at the gate? maybe a captain? A news crier? What type of traffic is there now, anything of interest. What type of establishments, and near the gate area? Merchants of different sorts? Can you paint a picture for us?
I'm never sure how to respond to an OOC answer to an IC question. I'll assume the answer was IC Scint looks at Thorpe with sympathy. I understand the urge to mete out justice, but we have not been hired or given authority over this murder. She pauses and nods a little But let us say we do take this responsibility. It was a ritualized murder to gain favor from the god of murder by one of his cultists. The cultist would know to pick a stranger and keep his identity hidden to protect from lowly divinations. What do you imagine the dead boy will tell you other than someone tortured and killed him, he knows not who. We know the murderer heads to Baldurs Gate. Do we really want to give him an extra 24 hours before heading after him?
Scin nods. Then when we get to town, I will visit the temple and relay the message. She pauses and bows Unless you have further need, I bid you a fair day. Scin floats out of the temple, and looks at the others in the group. I have no more business to address here. Shall we move on to Baldur's gate?
Scin steps out of the barn and makes some arcane gestures and sounds. He lithe body begins to rise higher and higher. She looks in the direction of Baldurs gate, looking for travellers in that direction. From her flying vantage point, it was possible to see movement she could not see from the ground. She returns to the barn, and retrieves a horse blanket and goes about the grisly task of collecting the poor souls body parts. She wraps up the blanket and carries his remains outside. I will take his remains to the church so they can prepare his body for burial.
Scin scans the scene. She cocks her head at the sight. It wasn't the first time she'd seen a torture killing. She only wished she had been here to stop something so sensless. The horse whose attention was captured elsewhere, captured her attention. The beautiful half-orc moves closer to the horse, and looks to see what it sees. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
I had thought the debt would be the hook needed. Either she owed Abals directly or they bought the debt to secure her services. And as rewarding as being the city's version of Viagra is, she could easily be ensared if given a greater purpose. I saw her as the party investigator/interrogator and support. I saw her as being pregnant with RP possibilities. Just so I understand, You are looking for PCs who are semi-optimized combat oriented for this adventure?
