I don't mind finishing quickly but that is particularly for me because your comments sort of imply you are planning on getting us all to level up after this and inquisitors get a huge boost in power at level 5 with Bane.

Sareth steps south before taking another swing at the same goblin.

Mace attack: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 = 111d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 So many 1's

The swing misses wildly and Sareth almost loses his balance before steadying himself. Focus!

As far as I know, you can by RAW 5' step any time something counts as 5' of movement. The full combat rules: 5 foot step

Now, I have no problem for it not to be allowed as a house rule as I can see the logic. Question is then, is doing such a move while provoking allowed?

Depending on what you decide, how would you wanna play it. Since Mirage didn't apply the flank bonus anyways, maybe we just say that I moved after Mirage and failed to hit the beefy goblin instead. Shouldn't require any change of turns other than that.

I think you may have missed Sareth's damage on the black beefy goblin there. :)

Sareth moves carefully to flank the two goblins near him before trying to finish off the severely weakened one.

Attack on light blue: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 121d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

Sareth manages to avoid another batch of the splashes of goo flying at him from Mirage's sword.

"I'm super impressed at your killing, Mirage, but could you perhaps kill them over there? I don't want to have to wash this goo off."

He then moves to assist Alabaster with the goblin attacking him. As he takes his swing, he screams at him: "Let the fires of Asmodeus burn you all"

Reflex first: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Reflex second: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Sareth curses as he dodges out of the way of the goo. He turns to Alabaster: "I don't think they mind being burnt so much. Got any other tricks up your sleeve?"

Will hold off on my next trun for a bit.

Sareth nods at the tactical decisions being made.

"Not getting surrounded is wise. As individuals, I doubt these goblins pose much of a threat, but in groups they can be quite nasty."

Upon hearing Arthur's comments and seeing Arsil return, he hefts his mace and shield, looking very serious.

"Looks like the time has finally come to put an end to these rituals, demonic or not. Let us restore some order to this world, one goblin at a time."

He then follows Mirage as he heads towards the camp.

"I will follow whatever plan we decide on, but I don't think the high ground will give us as much of an advantage as we'd hope for"

"Oh, and lest I forget, I do possess some magic that could help protect us against the demonic influence at play here. It needs me to be close and doesn't last very long, so its best cast at the beginning of combat."

Sareth looks at Mirage: "I believe that Locke wanted you to have a scout of the camp before we rush in. I'll probably stick behind as discretion is not really my strong suit"

He grabs the rains of his horse and looks for a suitable place to attach them.

"I'll probably leave my horse here for the time being if we are going to fight."

Moving up to her, he puts a hand on her shoulder: "How about we save those arrows, eh? The little one has been most helpful and should get a chance at finding a better path."

"It looks like we'll definitely have to take a closer look at that cave. Whatever is in there is no longer at rest, I think, if it ever was"

He thinks for a moment longer before continuing: "The question is, do we go back there now, or do we pay a visit to the rest of Scaz's tribe first?"

He points out the smoke he'd spotted earlier.

"I'm guessing we'll find them by the smoke."

Finally, he turns to the goblin: "Look, Scaz, I know you are scared. But you have already spoken of the magic man to us. If the curse was real, you would have already exploded. So, I'm sure you can tell us more."

GM:

Sareth was a bit embarassed by his failure to spot the tracks earlier. This was soon forgotten when they found the demonic looking skull.

It looks like my instincts were right to follow this group. The trail is hot once more.

When he sees the runes and hears their meaning, he speaks up: "Tread very carefully here friends. If there are demonic forces at play, we must investigate further, but lets not release something that shouldn't be."

Looking up from his communion, Sareth hears the voice of Ondrea.

"Very well then. If we are all ready, let us be on our way."

He gets up and packs up his gear before heading down to join the rest of the group. As a last minute thought, he puts his holy symbol under his outfit out of sight.

Best not to cause too much tension on that front

He then heads downstairs to join the rest of the group.

Well, friends, it is time for me to adjourn. I have a feeling you are going to need all the help that you can get, for there are dark forces of chaos at play here.

I'LL be ready to leave from breakfast if you feel you agree.

"Well, I probably won't match you in the killing department, but I'll see what I can do."

Turning back to Locke, he answers:
"And yes, the dark prince. I am an inquisitor of Asmodeus. Specifically, our order deals with ridding noble Cheliax of demons and their influence

He then pauses for a moment before continuing.

"You mentioned goblins. I wouldn't be surprised if there is demonic influence at play here. Their kind is so easily led down the path of chaos.

I feel joining paths would be most beneficial. That is, if you'll have me. He concludes, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Hmm, changing gods means pretty much changing the entire character. I would consider it if it was a deal breaker for the players, but I think some philosophical disagreements between PCs can make for interesting RP.

Sareth focuses more on the law side of Asmodeus as opposed to the evil side so there should not need to be any concern of me screwing over or betraying the party in any way.

Oh, and I do possess some divine magic, at least when the Dark Prince finds me worthy On saying this, Sareth reflexively grabs the holy symbol hanging around his neck.

So, if I may be so bold, what is the nature of the tasks you find yourself needing assistance with?

Sareth looks at the couple that just walked in as they definitely stood out from the rest of the crowd.
Ever the curious, he couldn't help but overhear them discussing potential prospects. They must be recruiting, and by the looks of them, they might have use for his particular set of skills.

On an impulse, he stood out of his chair and approached the man as he stepped further in to the inn.
"Excuse me, good sir.", he said, smiling.
"I have a feeling that you might be recruiting someone with my type of skills so I thought I should introduce myself."
Offering his hand, he said: "I am Sareth Malkor."

Sareth usually worked alone, but his instinct told him that these people might be the right one's to follow to find his lost trail.
