How many spriggans and other bad guys are there?
Can I see who has our weapons? Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Thediar wrote: Thediar laughs, because it is funny. He glances into the bag that allegedly holds Tenzekil's corpse.
He announces to the spriggans assembled: "It is a merry jest, indeed. But I have a tale of a finer jest still:..."
He tells a short story of a gnome who tried to use clever illusions to fool a giant whom he had taken in as a guest, and how the tables got turned and taught the gnome a thing or two.
Untrained Perform: 1d20+3
"And that's the thing about hospitality. Jokes or no, the bond of a guest and host are sacred. Your Queen has invited us to come as guests, and held our wares in safe keeping. This jest reflects on Her Majesty, and makes Her look the fool, for making promises she cannot keep, and for abusing the sacred trusts. Lives there any here who did not see what befalls a Fellnight servant who decides on his own initiative to act contrary to the Her Dread Majesty's will?"
Diplomacy: 1d20+11
"We'll be walking out, on that trail over there. We expect to find our gear waiting for us."
(EDIT: I'm hoping someone can help boost one or the other roll, either the story up to a 15, or the Diplomacy up to a 30.)
Sarek steps up beside Thediar.
"We complied with the Queen's wishes regarding our arms...we did not even interfere with the squabble with the gnome. We are honor bound to bear the Queen's tidings outside the Fellnight. Please return our belongings, so we may be on our way. Your Queen is a woman of honor...do not besmirch her."
Diplomacy (aid Thediar) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Thediar wrote: Thediar fairly beams at that. He had been worried, throughout, that he as dealing with nothing more than an insane mobster, willing to destroy the Fellnight, if that was hat it would take to seek revenge. But at this, at Rhoswen's pledge of remembrance, he understands that somewhere behind all the rage and indignation, there's actually a ruler there, who feels some need to answer to her people.
That is what Thediar is going to try to target, kindle, and enflame. And he's going to do it by appealing to her emotions --vanity, fear, a need for admiration, a thirst for victory-- rather than a careful logical case. For Rhoswen is Fae, and that means that, whatever the Fellnight Queen's powers, Thediar realizes he's negotiating with a 4-year-old.
--+--+--
"I suspect Your Majesty may be right in that, but none shall know, for Maligorn has not been made to suffer so. He rules as an easy king, and watches as, yearly, the human loggers and settlers take the forest away by inches. And now he seeks to turn the attention of his subjects from that peril to ... You, Your Majesty, to the so-called threat Your return represents. He paints you as the villain in this piece.
"And, I fear, that by continuing the Fellnight attack upon the woodlands, Your Majesty plays into his hands. So long as You throw Your soldiers against the nymphs, the elves, and the honest folk of the woods, Maligorn will parade the war-dead as exhibits in the case against You.
"Your forces may win; the Fellnight is mighty as well as beautiful. (But they may not; much of your forces would seem to be held back in reserve on this side of the bridge between worlds. Maligorn knows where the choke-point is. If the Satyr-king takes it, he can hold it against a much greater force.)
"But, good queen, know that, if the war is left unchecked, the attrition will be terrible. You are mightier than they know, but they are much stronger than Your Majesty remembers. They have had all these years to strive against the other forces in the...
What would we be helping you with? I'm not quite clear on what you are trying to convince the queen to do or accept as a compromise.
Sarek steps beside Ylera. "Your daughter speaks the truth Queen Rhoswen. You so called liberation has caused the death and destruction of many of its denizens."
Sarek watches the Queen for any sign of spell casting. If she casts a spell, then he will charge her and attempt to grapple.
What are the spriggans doing during the conversation? Just listening or do they look threatening at all? Is there anything else unsual that I sees around the room?
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Sarek watches his comrades drop their weapons one by one. I've trusted Thediar this far... He walks over to where Thediar's trident is sticking out the ground. He drops his flail on the ground, draws his sword and stabs it deep into the ground. He turns towards the spriggans...."Take us to see your queen."
Sarek meets Thediar's glance, but says nothing. He makes no move to relinquish his sword.
I didn't come all this way to this dark place just to hand over my sword. he thinks.
Sarek will stay where he his, but ready an action to attack anyone that approaches with hostile intentions.
Is it okay to change my action to this?
Ok, so let's pretend we are all sitting around a table in JZ's basement. :) How do you want to handle this round? I don't think a paladin would leave the gnome to fend for himself.
"I have not attacked them! I will not, however, abandon Tenzekil!"
"Can you open the doors behind you?"
Edit: A wall spell would be nice too...to cut them off.
Sarek moves to Tenzekil side. As he walks he draws his sword...Iomedae, give me the strength to ward this tortured soul., he whispers. The falchion grows brighter and Sarek can feel power thrumming within it.
"I give all of you one chance! Yield now! You have no hope to defeat us!", he says to their foes as he slowly moves his bright sword in a horizontal arc...pointing to the enemies that surround them.
Intimidate 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Move action: Move 5 squares south until I am in the square SE diagonal from Tenzekil. I have also activated Sarek's divine bond. His falchion is now a +1 holy sword.
AC is now 26 with Haste.
Yeah...I'll bet it takes a while to put 8000 spriggans on the map :)
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Sarek Tull wrote: DM JZ wrote: Sarek Tull wrote:
"I am not some slave who fights at your whim!", Sarek yells at the captain. "Enough of this nonsense. Go fetch your queen now!"
Spriggans point at Sarek and laugh. The clink of coins can be heard as bets are made. Sarek turns towards Tenzekil...
"Look at how your friends value your life, Tenzekil. You are nothing more than something to be used and then tossed aside."
"I know that there is still good in you Tenzekil. Put aside the hate. Don't throw your life away for nothing." Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

DM JZ wrote: A worg-rider – the same captain who led the party to the palace – steps forward.
"We've had enough of your boastful bleating, Tenzekil Braybittle. So what if you're the one who opened the faengard? You can't even face down a few prisoners, let alone lead a warband. It's time you proved yourself in combat, something we've never seen you do!"
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" shout the spriggans. The worgs howl exultantly to the savage chorus.
"Alright, you want me to fight? Fight who?" asks Tenzekil almost pleadingly.
"ALL OF THEM!" demand the soldiers.
"I am not some slave who fights at your whim!", Sarek yells at the captain. "Enough of this nonsense. Go fetch your queen now!"
Intimidate 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Sarek's interest is peaked as he expected the bird to answer.
Detect Evil directed at bird.
Sarek stands up and strides up to Thediar. He sheaths his sword as he approaches.
Just checking in. Sarek is still keeping an eye on Thediar.
Sarek grips his falchion tightly with both hands as he feels the power from the spells flow through him. He keeps a close eye on Thediar. He will rush to his aid if he is threatened or attacked.
DM JZ wrote: You fail to identify these tiny winged people. What do they look like?
Knowledge check on creatures on southern hill. I only have knowledge religion and nobility.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Sarek casts Divine Favor.
I relay the Elemental knowledge to everyone. Can we see the 4 creatures on top of the southern 30' hill?
Sarek quietly draws his sword and crouches down to peer though the brush.
"What are those other creatures besides the spriggans and worgs?" he whispers to his companions.
He concentrates on the large creatures to find their true nature...
Detect Evil on the large creatures.
Knowledge (religion) check for anything useful: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Well I hope I didn't waste a 20 :)
"Thank you Devarro...we are truly blessed to have a friend like you. Wish us luck..."
Sarek falls in line with his companions heading north.
"North it is...", Sarek says as he shoulders his pack.
He walks next to Thediar as they head north...
"Thank you, Thediar, for your eloquent words during the last day or so. I envy your gifts. Without your words we would not be armed with the information that we now possess."
Thediar wrote: Thediar smiles appreciatively and, with a respectful bow and a glance at his companions, takes his leave.
"Well, my friends, I think we've accomplished our first mission: finding out about the stones.
"Our second task was to apprehend our little bleachling. I think my spells might help pin his location down. Then, it'd be up to Janus and Sarek to pin him down in more literal ways."
"Agreed...it is high time that we brought him to account."
Thediar wrote: Things are becoming clearer. Thediar nods enthusiastically. "One last question: it might be important if we encounter her. What was Rhoswen like, before she started working with shadow magic?
"And, I guess, where did she learn it from? Who taught her?"
You can't negotiate with a caricature, and that's what she's become, nothing more than a cartoon object of hatred and fear. With this, we might be able to get a better sense of her.
Thediar is trying to get Maligorn and Aripha to open up and explain more than they might, otherwise. Diplomacy: 1d20+19.
Sarek steps up until he is standing beside Thediar. "Yes...anything else that can tell us would be helpful....no matter how insignificant you think it might be."
Diplomacy (aid Thediar) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Whew! Close one...
Hmmm...teleport...I wonder if this is going to be a one way trip...
"And where exactly is this second task?, Sarek adds.
DM JZ wrote: Guys, there's some plot points in the module that don't quite make sense to me, so I'm going to ask author Neil Spicer on his Fellnight thread. If you guys know what thread I'm talking about please don't look if he responds as it may have spoilers. I hope you guys don't mind a delay of a day or two. Thanks! No problem.

No, it's done :) Everyone's good and healthy:) They're sleeping now. That is great! Congratulations!

"Do we know that the spriggans fled back into the Fellnight? How do we know that there isn't an army of them marching on our position as we speak? We should find out the location and size of our foe's forces before we take any action."
"Can we send scouts to find out this information?"
Busy weekend...
"Thediar words are wise. I've seen no evidence that this Queen is targeting humans or the lumber consortium. Her focus seems to be dominating this entire region."
"I do not raise my sword against evil unless there is no other option. I do not slay for pleasure. I will listen to the Queen with an open mind, but I am wary of her treachery. We must listen to her claims before blindly going to war."
Diplomacy to hear the Queen's claims (aiding Thediar) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
It is the last claim that you needed aid for, correct?
"I'm happy to see you have recovered your strength, Devarro.", Sarek says to the druid, "Tell me, what do you mean by 'until the time is right'? Are we waiting for a sign from you or someone or something else?"
Sarek is updated. FYI to everyone...if you are within 10' of me, then you gain a +4 morale bonus to saves against fear and charm.
Sarek races over to Vinroot and helps boost the others onto him. "Thanks for the warning Vinroot."
FYI...I'll be out of town this weekend (starting tonight). Feel free to DMPC Sarek. He has 3 smites and 5 lay on hands left.
Sarek sighs deeply as the last elemental falls. His body aches from the elemental's blows against his body. He pulls out a wand from his pack and touches it to his chest a couple of times. The pain washes away and he feels energized again.
"Is anyone else hurt?", he asks the rest of the group.
I'm down to 36, so....
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
btw...feel free to use the Enlarge Person anytime...that was fun!

Did Ylera cast the Water Walk spell?
"Hmmm....How about if Ylera summoned something that could engage the elementals in their own environment? Or at least give us cover while we cross?
JZ...can you describe the shore on the opposite side (between the falls)? It looks like there isn't much room between the water and the cliff between the falls.
While pondering their strategy, Sarek pulls out his Pearl of Power and mumbles a prayer to Iomedae.
Recalling Divine Favor.
"Do any of you have a spell that can make me bigger. Perhaps I can ward all of you while you run across the water over there at the narrowest point."
Enlarge Person on me perhaps? I would have reach and ready an action to attack anything that threatens any of you while to run across the water. Just a thought.
