Salt watching from the tree line finally hisses out... Ulark, Lets get out of here.

Ushering the bulk of the crew into the forest, Salt peeks out of the tree line watching to see what happens next...

Drawing attention to the situation might be all that needs to be done. If I were you I would do a quick role call to make sure we haven't lost any players and then set a posting schedule for yourself. They don't have to be full posts, it doesn't hurt too just describe something in the background like wind in the trees or buzzing insects along with an "ooc" what are you guys doing? If we see you posting once a day no matter what, I think we'll fall into line as well.

Salt looks in the direction of the sound.

we have the water between us and it, but still let's get the barrels and try and get into the tree line.

Salt grabs a barrel, turns it on its side and starts rolling it.

Hmmm.... Seems like a good idea to me... Make sure you don't wander to far, incase something unexpected happens.

Salt looks thoughtful for a moment.

You should prolly take another body or two. Hug needed to find some plants as well, and he's prolly the best of us in the jungle, no t to mention he'll have the best chance of calming down an angry monkey or two. Marius seems like he would be good for you guys to have around as well if something goes wrong as well, not to mention I'm pretty sure he can climb a tree fairly well...

Turning to the party...

Hug, Marius, do you guys mind accompanying the fruit finding group?

Sallentine steps off the longboat onto the shore and shakes his head. I could have easily stood a little more time at sea before standing on dry land again.

...
As the group of sailors meander and no one seems to be taking charge "Salt decides to step up.

Hug, can you and flappy take point and make sure we don't stumble into any trouble. Ulark why don't you and Marius take second rank. Then Churchmouse and I will take the third rank.

"Salt" continues on down the line placing the pirate who had spoken up about the path right behind him and Churchmouse, as well as placing the burliest looking pirates as rear guards for the group.

Having finished the process he waits to see if anyone will follow his lead.

Salt walks over towards Cade, the gnome passenger. Quite the coincidence, that as we leave Tortagor someone makes off with a dragon egg. Who ever could pull off such an audacious caper would have to be unbalanced and reckless. Good thing we like unbalanced and reckless. The half-elf gives a smile and pulls a belaying pin giving one of the sails the slack it needs to unfurl so that the ship can get under way again.

"No wind but the plants will answer my call. If they close I can cover their deck in vines. They will grasp them and hold them down or at the very least slow them. If they pull within boarding range I shall do this. It will only last a minute. But we can pepper their boarding parties with bullets in the meantime."

Sallentine looks thoughtfully at Hug...

Any chance of you casting that spell on some sea weed? Be pretty funny if all their oars got stuck in the plants.

Entangle doesn't create plants and foliage. It Transmutes existing plants to grasp at people. Thusly if there's no preexisting plants entangle doesn't work. So I don't think you can actually cast entangle on the deck of a ship. If we happen to find a bed of sea weed though...

"Salt you know that other pirates might bother us on any trip. I see no reason why this would be any different. At least we aren't overladen with cargo this time, so we can maneuver to respond to any trouble."

Salt let the words of the captain sit in the air between them like the smell of rotted meat. Salt made no secret of the fact that he had survived attacks by pirates on many occasions. This was true of any seasoned sailor and wasn't what made him feel uneasy. It was the things he chose not to share about his own past that made him uneasy.

The youngish Half-elf watched as the excited crew began to drag the gnome around the ship.

Looks, like that gnome is going to be a bit of a distraction for at least a few days....

Unless you have any orders captain I was going to walk the cargo deck and make sure the supplies are all safely Stowed.

Male Half-Elf, Sorceror-(1) | Hp:9 /9 | AC:10 T:9 FF:10 | CMD:8 | Fort:+2 ,Ref:-1 ,Will:+1 | Init:-1 | Perc:+3

Seeing everything going well and the gnome getting swarmed by curious sailors, Salt moves over by the captain. The new recruits haven't screwed up anything yet sir... but the sea is a harsh mistress... and we all know mistakes will be made.

Salt looks over towards the Gnome and his gaggle of followers.

Anything we should keep an eye out for Captain?

Male Half-Elf, Sorceror-(1) | Hp:9 /9 | AC:10 T:9 FF:10 | CMD:8 | Fort:+2 ,Ref:-1 ,Will:+1 | Init:-1 | Perc:+3

As the crew disperses Salt starts walking the main deck checking the rigging and making sure things are properly tied down. Fully aware that there would be a handful of new crew members on board, a copious quantity of alcohol, and that sometimes discipline was lax. This meant that mistakes were made, and while infrequent, they could be deadly.

More importantly this double checking would let the Half-elf stay upon deck so that he could get a good look at both the Gnome passenger and his cargo.

Thanks for the invite Browman. Couple questions...

1. Are we using pathfinder pantheon? I included Besmara in my backstory.

2. Is there an overall planned alignment for the game? I was planning on chaotic good, not really caring for the rules and civility of the continent , especially when compared to the freedom granted by the sea, but still wanting to treat others well.

P.s. will set up reference info when I get home tonight.

The half-elf sorcerer returned to the ship with all the other members of the crew. It was obvious that a certain amount of uneasiness drained away as his feet touched the wood of the ship. This was where he was comfortable.

He was generally well liked by the others on the ship making a habit of talking down angry shipmates and generally trying to keep the peace. He had shown he was an able enough sailor to be of use, making up in skill what he lacked in pure physicality. Beyond this he had been seen to display a magical trick from time to time as well.

During the captain's declaration Salt had stood mixed in with the other men. Hearing Ulark's declaration Salt decided to follow his lead and try to stir some of the thoughts of those around him as well.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Ulark speaks some wise words, taking on the gnome's business would give us a chance to make some allies. Having a friend in a new port never hurts. We may make more money raiding the Galleons of the continent, but we will also make more enemies.

maybe I should not have mentioned the money...

I think Salt is to a point where I would like to submit him. All the major decisions are made, and I did a "10 minute background" for him. will have a little bit of polish work to do if selected.

Background Blurb:
The Renowned Pirate Ship “Redknife” is known to many a merchantman as a plague and pox on the ocean. To Sallentine Windson for the first twenty four years of his life “The Red Knife” was his home. The scarred Elf Captain Agrathmore that lead so many raids and killed so many men was simply known as Father to the Half-elf. The Evil Priestess of Besmara, Allejandra, known for her ability to calm waves and rouse storms... was simply Mother to Salt. The Motley gang of elves that made up the Redknife's crew were Sallentine's cousins, and distant relatives. But all of this is something that Sallentine Windson would prefer to leave in his past.

Strength 8
Dexterity 9... 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Constitution 15... 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Intelligence 8... 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Wisdom 9... 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Charisma 20

Starting to Work on Sallentine Windson. half-elf Sorcerer (Storm-born bloodline), will hopefully have him done tomorrow night.

I would like to submit Varrish Windson and his animal companion Grace the Eagle

Okay Varrish is done... did about 5 minutes of a 10 minute background to flush him out a bit more.

Background Blurb:

Varrish is one of the many Grand children of Halgra. That's a heritage that he is both proud of but also plagued by. With so many cousins and siblings around ,many of whom are still children, Varrish constantly felt like he was being hounded by youngsters. In a rush to grow up himself he joined the militia and moved out of the Ivory Hall a few years ago. Still he makes a point of visiting his kid sister Vitallia who is old enough this year that she will be getting her very own hopeknife.

Varrish has enjoyed his new life living in the barracks of the Long house. He enjoys the process of training with the other militia members and is proud of having been assigned as a trainee in Kurst Grath's unit, even if he is the lowest man on the totem pole. He takes great amounts of joy when he's allowed to accompany one of the patrols and has proven he has many natural skills and strong instincts when allowed out on the highlands surrounding the city. He knows that there are many people here in his home that are better and more skilled than he but still he is anxious to prove his worth to his family, his neighbors, and his friends.

Detail Background:

Points that capture the concept and story of the character.
1) Devoted Militia Member who proudly carries on the traditions of Trunau
2) Wilderness devotee who loves nothing more than putting his body to the test scaling a high cliff with the wind blowing around him, his only companions the birds.

Secret the PC keeps to himself
Varrish has a favorite spot outside of the city. It's a difficult climb but about half way up a cliff a quarter mile from the city is a small cave that you can't see from the ground. This is his personal get away from the world.

Secret kept from the Pc
Varrish' mother who married Halgra's son never talked about her childhood. She was raised in an orc settlement till she was "rescued" by Militia members from Trunau. She gifted and taught Varrish to use his double axe but would never tell him where or how she got it.

people that are tied to your PC by blood, love, rivalry, honor, etc.
1)Halgra is Varrish grandmother. As such you would think she would doat and watch out for him. You would be wrong. The woman has very high expectations for her family and her influence more than any other has caused Varrish to be a dedicated man.
2) Vitallia... Varrish younger sister she reaches the age of maturity this year. He is very protective of her and been in more than one fight to "defend her honor".
3) Cousins.... There are many of them.... and most are younger and anooying. Always wanting to hear another story about the Militia, or wanting a piggy back ride. Varrish makes a show of being a grump around them... but he cares for them very much and would gladly die for any of his kinfolk.
4) Patrol Captain Kurst Grath is Varrish' immediate superior and mentor in the Militia. The older man has spent many hours teaching and training Varrish.

Key memories that define your character as the person they are.
1) As a child never being able to turn your head or do anything without one of your aunts, uncles, or cousins being there.
2) The first Patrol that Varrish was allowed to go on. The way the wind felt in his hair, the suns warmth on his face, the smells of the wild. The freedoms of the wild places called to him.
3) Constantly having to hold his own against other kids growing up. Being the Half-Orc Grand child of Halgra does not make one popular with the other kids of the town.

All the choices are made... still have lots of maths and blanks to fill in. Varrish is a Ranger (Trapper Archetype)... figured I hadn't seen anyone with trap-finding yet so decided to try and nab that slot.
