Hey folks, I loved everyone's distractions - perfectly mad and inspired. Great job and I hope I get the chance to play in another "let's cause chaos" scenario with y'all again soon.

I wanted to post my "idea" for the slaver ship here, so we can see what everyone thinks and what the odds are that we can get away with it. Or, kindly inform me this plan's not likely to work.

The quick rundown:

- We handle the Overmarket and try to make a minimum of fuss. If possible, we blame any funny business on the slavers.

- We use this opportunity in the Overmarket to Gather Information and see if we can figure out who Safa's master is. We know it's someone rich enough to own a genie, that this genie's name is Safa, and that they consider Azam ibn Bashemi a rival. Hopefully this is enough (or maybe even more than enough) to figure out this guy's identity.

- We anonymously tip off Avisha al-Isman of the Satrapian Guard (or one of his flunkies) that Tadrun, the captain of the Swift Huntress, is responsible for sabotaging Azam's feast at the behest of [insert name of Safa's master here, assuming we get it].

- OPTIONAL: Find a way to lure Safa's master to the docks at the same time we're going to be there confronting the slavers and/or letting the Satrapian Guard confront the slavers. Open to ideas here!

- We let chaos unfold between the Guard and the slavers. MEANWHILE, our stealthier and stronger party members sneak aboard the slaver boat, free the captives, and dump any lingering slavers they find overboard. THEN, rig the ship for full sail, untether the boat, and let it sail at full speed out to sea, hopping overboard into the harbor at the first available opportunity. Or hell, maybe we let the freed slaves sail it to wherever the hell they feel like.

What does everyone think?

While they walk to their next destination, Brimly turns to Beezhul. "Ms. Kholo lady, I had a thought itchin' my brain since the start'a this. Why you care what happens to slavers an' their ship? They predators, preyin' on people all day. Sometimes in nature predator becomes prey.

"I say when we get done with this Overmarket we try an' convince the slavers to see reason, pick up a new profession. Otherwise," he shrugs, palms (and frying pans) upright to the sky, "Predator become prey."
"So you don't mind a genie complaining about being bound to a master bossing you around? Making you do their dirty work? And their killing?" Beezhul spits "No thank you, sir. If you think all of those things are all right, well, what else can you be told to do?"

"Do not worry, my friends," says Sabrael. "I think we can accomplish Safa's goal of 'destroying' the ship and eliminating Zoha as a threat. And it will not require killing anyone," he adds, looking to Beezhul and nodding firmly.

"But for now, let us focus on getting these supplies that Safa's master has ordered them to gather."

She jumps to her feet as she sees you approach and waves at you as she walks up to your group. "You look like you could use a little help finding your way around here," she declares. "Name's Melika, I know what everybody's selling today and where to find them. Hire me and we'll find everything you could ever want in the Overmarket!"

"Hmm," muses Sabrael as he looks down at the youth and rubs his chin with an amused air, "I imagine your definition of 'everything' can be found as close as an alleyway two blocks from here, where we'll be surrounded by thugs and robbed of everything we own, which you'll get a cut of. Plus two coppers, of course."

"I ran a pretty similar dodge when I was a lad, in Jalmeray." He nods appreciatively at Melika. "The sign's a nice touch, though."

Sabrael fishes into his pocket and comes back with two silver coins. "How about we pay you two silver coins instead. Two copper pennies now, and two silver weights when we get everything we're after? Provided we skip the funny business, of course."

Anyone who looks closely - and who further is skilled in matters of currency collecting - sees that the silvers pinched between Sabrael's fingers are in fact “silver gates,” depicting an aiudara portal commemorating the return of elves to Golarion in 2632 AR.

They're unbelievably rare, and quite possibly worth more than their actual denomination.

I have absolutely no notes on Beezhul skinny-dipping in the oasis pool. 10/10, brilliant, no notes, zero way for me to top that.

Seeing that Azam has vacated his place as storyteller, Sabrael coughs lightly and steps up to the spot where the host was telling The Tale of Al-Yazan the Wanderer.

"Ah, my friends, my apologies. It appears that Azam seems to be quiet busy with something," here he makes it very obvious to his compatriots that they should try to stall Azam somehow from returning to the dais, "so I, the humble Kazuud ibn Malah, would be happy to tell an abridged version of the tale."

He spreads his palms wide. "So! Currently, Al-Yazan finds himself in peril at the Oasis of Ten Palms." Sabrael taps his chin thoughtfully and continues, "but before we learn of the Wanderer's fate, let us consider what others have proposed, yes? That the Oasis of Ten Palms is a symbol of our beautiful Qadira, and the bandits who came to seize it from Al-Yazan's friends are in fact an allegory for the Keleshite invaders who seized noble Qadira under a flag of conquest."

"If such is true," the cleric droned on in a monotonous tone, "why, the merchant caravan who happens upon the oasis two chapters hence would be like Taldor, would it not? In fact, the literary scholar Abir al-Qwamzi theorized exactly that in his eighth volume, Tales of Qadira: An Unabridged Study, published over eighty years ago. In fact I just so happen to have my notes on that treatise, which I'll happily summarize for you now..."

The cleric dug with a smirk in his pockets and surveyed the crowd. They were already starting to walk away in disinterest or, barring that, somehow managing to fall asleep standing up.

Attempting to use Academia Lore to bore the audience to tears and completely ruin Azan's story.

Lore: Academia: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Let's use a hero point on that.

Lore: Academia: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Nice. After this I'll feign upset at some of the feasting guests and insist they say a prayer to Pharasma before continuing to stuff their faces. I'm going to make it VERY uncomfortable.

Sabrael, who has been quietly listening all the while to the genie and his companions - often with a soft, slight smile - nods gently and taps the haft of his staff upon the stone floor.

"My friends, my faith in you and the Pathfinders has been repaid ten-fold this day. It is well and good that you do not seek to do the bidding of this genial being's wicked master. Let our actions, then, be guided by the wisdom of Nethys this day - the wisdom to know when it is proper to be clever and kind, and when it is proper to be swift and without mercy."

He frowns slightly. "But let us take great care. The Pathfinders' influence in this nation is tenuous; they have only just been granted the right of a Lodge in Sedeq. If it were to become known that the Pathfinders had a hand in disrupting the tolerated practice of Qadiran slavery, or humiliated a noble, the consequences will not be borne by us alone."

Sabrael brushes away a lock of long dark hair from his eyes and looks to Safa, bowing his head deeply. "Honorable Safa, it is a gift to have met you. Before this day, I had read tales only of genies' wrath and cunning. It pleases me beyond words to know that a noble heart, a kind heart, can also dwell within your people. I will keep this lesson with me always - and as we work to disrupt your cruel master's bidding."

The priest of the All-Seeing Eye nods to Kelumur. "Let us go, then, and ruin a feast. For even nobles ought be humbled, now and then, just as we all will be humbled at our End."

Hey, I'm here - even though I'm having intermittent connection issues with the forum - and I'll try to get back into the game the best I can.

1. No Glyphs
2. Any adjustments to your daily preparations based on what you've learned about this mission
3. Scroll of Mystic Armor (Rank 1)
4. Exploration Activity: Investigate (Genie/Pathfinder Lore: +5; Arcana/Occultism: +5; Nature/Religion: +7
5. Priest of Nethys, God of Magic, with the Knowledge domain. My Scholarly Recollection domain spell lets me roll twice on a Perception or Recall Knowledge check; I will indicate if I'm burning a focus point beforehand. If it's a reflexive check or a GM secret roll, you can assume I'm not just to keep things moving.

"The high-born here in Sedeq like to have genies on hand" Beezhul shrugs, reporting what she heard someone say - perhaps she overheard a squabble about pricing and subsequent arguments - in any case "Like, if you can Bind a genie, basically it shows that you are Wealthy and Powerful" not realizing what 'and' means "Or Both!"

"One does indeed often beget the other," Sabrael says with a chuckle. "Binding a genie is no simple task, certainly, but commanding it thereafter is a contest of wills. These creatures can be crafty and cunning, or their wrath like an all-powerful storm." The elf taps his chin thoughtfully. "Or both!"

"In any case, I am no friend of slavers or slave-keepers myself," he says to Xavier with a nod. "But let us certainly hope, for the sake of your peace, that things do not get..."

He waves his hand once, vaguely, in reply, and laughs warmly.

Brimly blinks. "What's a genie? Like them folk that come outta bottles? So you could be drinkin' something fresh and out pops a floaty person?"

Brimly inspects the canteen he'd been drinking as if it were a snake about to strike him.

"They were some of the first beings to possess free will, at the beginning of all things," replies Sabrael, the dark-skinned elf who walks calmly behind the others with the aid of a smooth wooden stave. His robes flutter in the wind as the boat draws ever nearer to the Pathfinders' destination. "They are creatures of living elements, and they once wandered all the Universe and called no gods 'Master'."

He smiles broadly at Brimly, flashing a mouthful of perfect white teeth, and adds, "I suppose, if they wished, they could will themselves into a bottle for you. But many of them are far more likely to demand your obedience, or slay you with spell or steel. Genie binding is no simple feat."

The curious elf bows his head genially. "I am Sabrael of Sothis, my friends. I greet you warmly. I have not crossed paths with a genie in my many years, but I have read many tales about them."

[My Society skill is +6. If I'm permitted to set my Ancestral Longevity daily skill to Genie Lore, that's also a +6. I have a strange feeling it's going to come in handy for this adventure. ;) ]

Alright, I've settled on an Elven Cloistered Cleric of Nethys instead of Gorn.

Link to my sheet is below. Pathbuilder makes it a little difficult to adjust numbers for the level bump so I'll put them in my alias where appropriate and adjust on the fly for the rest.

Ready to rock!
