![]() I've yet to watch any other shows Jeremy Clarkson is part of, but I kept hearing good things about this one. Since it was only four seasons, with 8 episodes in each, the wife and I decided to give it a go. It's been pretty entertaining. For a "reality" show, I was surprised to see it steer clear of a lot of personal drama and focus so much on the actual running of the farm, with all the insanity that entails. Clarkson himself is funny, although occasionally comes across as a stubborn jackass. He does genuinely seem to care for and enjoy the farming and want to make success of it. I like all the other characters as well. My favorite is Gerald, mostly because I can barely understand a word he's saying. Cheerful Charlie comes across as really practical and highly intelligent. I've heard that other farmers in the UK really like the show and the spotlight it shines on how difficult they have it. The go through a lot of crap (especially from the vagaries of weather and bureaucratic regulations). Anyway, it's fun to watch. The scenery of that countryside isn't half bad either. ![]()
![]() Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson dead at 82 Sad to hear, but he had a good, long life. Rest in Peace. ![]()
![]() It’s not actually called Guillermo del Toro‘s Frankenstein, but I thought that’d be a nice distinction. Anyway, here’s the Trailer. It looks awesome. Of course, I’d expect nothing less from del Toro. ![]()
![]() Trailer for a documentary: The Vincent Price Legacy I would make the argument that he was one of the greatest horror actors of all time. Definitely in the top ten. Maybe even the Top 5. I have several of his movies on physical media, including The Last Man on Earth (which I feel is the best adaptation of I am Legend). I will absolutely see this one day. ![]()
![]() Legendary Comics Writer Peter David Dies At 68 Sad to hear. He was a great writer. Rest in Peace. ![]()
![]() This is a documentary about Paul Reubens/Pee Wee Herman. The trailer was released awhile back, but the documentary just dropped on HBO within the last few days. Two parts - each over an hour and half long. I watched both parts last night. It's a fascinating look into the life of a man who was extraordinarily creative and talented. At one time, he was one of the biggest celebrities in this country. The last bit of audio from Reubens, which he recorded himself and sent to the people making the documentary, you can just hear the change in his voice as the cancer got to him. ![]()
![]() Jackson 'Butch' Guice, Acclaimed Longtime DC and Marvel Artist, Has Passed Away Sad to hear. He was a magnificent artist. He was one of the big artists from my early collecting days. Rest in Peace. ![]()
![]() I keep hearing good things about this movie. It's Ryan Coogler doing horror - a vampire movie set in 1930s Mississippi. I was impressed that it's Friday to Friday drop from opening day was only 32%. And it's second weekend Saturday and Sunday were higher than the opening weekend Saturday and Sunday. I might not get a chance to see it in the theater, but will make an effort to see it on streaming. ![]()

![]() I didn’t see a thread for this, though I could have sworn there was one…. Anyway, here’s the Trailer just released the other day. Reminded me a bit of the 2007 movie, plot-wise. I think the FX on Norinn Radd Silver Surfer looked better back then, though this trailer was limited in the alternate Silver Surfer appearances. I still think it would have been better to have Norrin Radd. I also still am not keen on Pedro Pascal as Reed. As good an actor as he can be, I just don’t find him believable as the smartest guy in the room. Nor do I see him coming across as a good team leader. The rest of the cast is pretty spot on, and the FX on the Thing look great. His appearance is also very Kirby-sequel. I’m also digging the whole 60s setting. Still not sure if I want to spend money seeing this in a theater. ![]()
![]() Trailer for the new movie with Liam Neeson. I love the original Police Squad series and Naked Gun movies, so I was a bit leery when I first heard of this movie. I kind of like they're not doing a remake, but an actual sequel. Though I have my doubts it can even equal the comedic genius of the earlier offerings. Still, I shall be cautiously optimistic. ![]()

![]() Here’s the Trailer. I had never seen the original animated feature until my daughter watched it a few years back. It was a solid movie, with a decent story and good voice acting. This remake looks pretty decent. I’ll have to remember to show my girl the trailer. ![]()

![]() Hammer Films Announces its First New Monster Movie in 60 Years Huzzah!!! Although, Hammer has been involved in some other films over the last decade or so. Most notably, the Woman in Black movies (the first of which starred Daniel Radcliffe). The title and synopsis reminds me of Brian Lumley's work. ![]()
![]() I watched this miniseries over the weekend, after seeing it on my scroll through of Netflix and having it recommended by a coworker. It's a western miniseries (just six episodes) set in 1857 during the Utah War. It's centered around the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The overarching story is a conflict between the Mormons, Native Americans, the U.S. Government, and other non-Mormon settlers and scoundrels. There are a few more focused, personal stories woven in. The primary of the being a hunter/trapper type guiding a woman and her son to where the boy's father is living. Overall, it was a solid, but brutal, story. They had a solid cast. Mostly the kind of character actors you recognize but might have to look up to name. Taylor Kitsch is the lead. Now to be honest, with the series name I was expecting something with maybe a bit more supernatural bent. I didn't get that at all but still was not disappointed. ![]()
![]() Robert Eggers Reteams with Focus Features for 13th Century Werewolf Thriller ‘Werwulf’ I haven't see Nosferatu yet, but I plan to. And I've seen other films by Mr. Eggers. So this sounds really cool. According to the article, they're even planning to use dialogue that would be true to the time period. ![]()

![]() Here’s the Trailer for Daredevil: Born Again This is the new series on D+. I’ve heard it was extensively reshot. To be honest, I think the trailer looks….good. It reminds me a lot of the Netflix series (which I thought was awesome). Still, I’m not sure I trust Disney enough to pay to get D+ again just for this series. And I’m not overly fond of getting a subscription just for one show anyway. ![]()
![]() Bob Uecker, legendary baseball broadcaster, dead at 90 I wasn’t really sure where to put this, but since he was in some movies I figured this was as good a spot as any. He was pretty cool and funny. Rest in Peace. ![]()

![]() I’ve been looking forward to this film for months. Of course, now that it’s here, the usual December sickness is running through the house. I’m still hoping to get to see it in the theater, though. I’ve seen at least two very positive reviews already. The reviews had plenty of praise for the cinematography and the cast, especially Bill Skarsgaard. ![]()
![]() Official Teaser Trailer dropped today. I still have my doubts about James Gunn’s ability to write a good Superman movie. And I’m not too keen on having so many other heroes in the movie. This trailer, however, makes me cautiously optimistic. ![]()
![]() It's a show from a few years ago, so I'm not sure if I just never noticed it, or it was suddenly new to Netflix. It's a South Korean zombie show, but with one of what seems to be one of their usual South Korean twists. In this the "zombie" outbreak is caused by some mysterious drug that produces a transmittable virus. Those infected become mindless and want blood. So they attack the neck of a victim as a quick source (with an added bonus of more quickly transmitting the virus to the brain). At first, the mindless state doesn't last, and they go back to normal, trying to conceal what they might have done. The feral state seems to last for increasingly longer periods, though there's evidence that's not always the case. Anyway, two of the main protagonists are this young police officer and an anti-terrorist agent who decided to get married to they can get an apartment. The other main protagonist is the military officer in charge of trying to defeat the outbreak. It's an interesting show, just as much about societal conflict and trust in government/media as it is about "zombies". The societal conflict comes in several forms - monetary and age being chief among them. There's also some of the usual tropes, such as the one bad guy who's guilty of a crime, which drives him to do further evil and drive important plot points. Anyway, it's an interesting show. Just 12 episodes, and it looks like there was only one season. ![]()
