Conchobhar swings down from the rigging and chat's amiably to Xantrius while Mister Plugg and Master Scourge berate Aretta about something.

"Arr, matey. Gatherin' ye own crew. I like how ye be thinkin'. So's t'be mutiny, eh? No chance o' that while ye've less'n 'alf th' crew. But I be a patient gnome. An' Harrigan could do with another setback. 'e ain't had one since Agasta Smythee turned 'im back from Tidewater Rock. 'Twas 'ardly a setback though, since 'e ended up with the rest of the Smythee islands."
(Attitude shifted from Friendly to Helpful.)

(Second daytime ship action if you want Xantrius. Will apply retroactively while moving on to evening.)

Conchobhar looks up as Xantrius approaches.
"Don't be crowdin' me. I be somewhat busy at th' moment, but not too busy to be listening if'n ye brought me a tale or two o' th' high seas."

At first, Xantrius thinks Conchobhar is ignoring him as the gnome rakes in coin after coin from the other players and whoops as the dice roll well for him again and again. But midway through Xantrius tale, Conchobhar interrupts him, and asks the exact wording of a previous sentence, and Xantrius realises that the gnome is committing every word to memory.
As evening winds down and Conchobhar sweeps in Mata's last coin, he tosses it to Xantrius. (1 sp)

"Thank ye, me hearty. I be addin' that to me catalogue. I 'spose I should find another tale fer ye, but sleep beckons and yer friend's gold be heavy in me hands. Perhaps another night."
(Attitude shifted from indifferent to friendly.)

"Greetings thespian. I do indeed be Conchobhar Turlach Shortstone, singer and performer extraordinaire... for the Wormwood." He looks pointedly at Xantrius.
"I be pleased that ye noticed my performance- I do try and accomodate me audiences. Shipwreck in a Bottle was a true tale that happened in Ollo, don't ye know, on the southwest coast of Shark Island. I don't know about culture, but I do try to make the best of it. Pirates aren't much renowned for their appreciation of such things, but if I slip some culture in amongst some wine, women and song, it can't hurt too much." He winks at Xantrius.
"I am an avid collecter of such tales and compositions, and ye may have some I've not yet heard. Whilst I'd be interested in hearing what ye have to say, I'm off to avoid a whipping. Ta ta."
Attitude shifted from Unfriendly to Indifferent.

The purple gnome also seems less than impressed with Xantrius, and after Xantrius finishes his first story, the gnome jumps up and bursts into song.

"Ye may 'ave 'eard o' pretty girls,
But Peg weren't one o' them,
More often she was Poxy Pearls,
But still she drew th' men.
She'd bring th' cabin boys to tears,
But that were not 'er gift,
Inside an empty bottle o' beer,
She'd build a perfect ship.
They'd all be wrecked upon th' beach
That every jug would hold,
By selling off each masterpiece,
Was how she'd make 'er gold.
The Percival arrived in port,
Peg went to ply 'er trade,
Th' Cap'n made a rude retort,
The last mistake 'e made,
Th' vessel vanished o'ernight,
With cap'n an' with crew,
O' wreckage, there were not a sight,
She hadn't left a clue.
But Poxy Pearls was run from town,
For in her latest wreck,
The Percival lay with gold aroun',
And corpses on her deck."

He cedes the floor to Xantrius again but as the crew listen wrapt to Xantrius' next story, the gnome wanders off and sulks next to the sour faced halfing with the hand axe, who rolls her eyes and moves elsewhere. He is instead joined by Cogward, who nods at him appreciatively.
