female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
"Hey. Keep swallowing your words and you'll one day take your tongue with them. Back in Cheliax, I swallowed so many of them they came out of my backside undigested." Ryoko replied, privately enjoying how her comrade seemed to wrestle with talking to her. She hadn't had much positive effect on members of the opposite sex, so this teasing was very gratifying. "My aunt may be all proper and respectable now, but my mother told me she had quite the sailor's mouth when she was younger."
Moro bared its needle-like teeth, but disappeared from view again, seemingly satisfied it had its intended effect on Eden. "All things added up, I figure Moro and whoever send her to me can't mean me that much harm. If they'd wanted me to die a gruesome death, all they would have had to do is not act at all."

"come on, spit it out." Ryoko answered, as she slowed down to match Eden. The weasel poked out of her shirt, a red eyed black furred head seemingly growing out of her chest.

Ryoko shrugged as Renjiro started to "forge ahead". She had always considered him a bit on the stiff side, but this was getting a bit too dramatic for even her taste.
"Hey, it suits you" She teasingly said to Eden, falling into step besides him. Her black familiar scuttled up her clothes, settling into her shirt. "I bet there's plenty of goblin girls going to swoon at your feet.Oh, and if they don't swoon, we just stab them until they bleed at your feet."

Ryoko nodded. "We'll do. I can tell you, travelling these parts is hungry work, and we've not even met any goblins yet." she declared, giving the halfling a short squeeze of the shoulder. Slips were highly priced slaves back home, but she'd never been fond of slavery, and liked them for a long time.

"Do they really die off, or are they just... disappearing?" Ryoko pondered aloud. Maybe the goblins, hermits and assorted misfits of the area were just turning into something else entirely.
"Ceru, I like the way you think" Ryoko answered. "We should be on guard. The entire tribe might have been replaced, or maybe just their leadership."
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
Ryoko eyed the frightened halfling, and could not resist a quick quip. "Dead as a doornail. Unless it can stand being stabbed, slashed and mutilated. Some creatures probably can, but I don't think it was one of these."
The weasel darted out of her clothes, towards the halfling, and sniffed him, baring its razor teeth.

Ryoko prodded the thing with her spear's tip several times, before using the implement to turn it over - she seemingly didn't want to come into its arms reach despite her earlier bravado and generally "tough attitude". She poked it once again, shaking her head. "I heard about doppelgängers... maybe it is one of those? I frankly never saw one, or at least, never knew i saw one. For all I know you could all be doppelgängers"
Giving the corpse one last stab, she finally dared look away from it. "Let's see if we can find the real halfling. Maybe he's still alive."

Ryoko cursed to herself as the creature didn't go down, and thrust at it again, a little more vigorously and quite a bit less effectively this time.

Ryoko acted a split-second before the others, stabbing at the abomination with her spear - she was ill-trained, but stabbing something with the pointy end of a long stick she considered will within her limited skills.
1d20 ⇒ 11
That confidence was quite mistaken, however. Hitting some stationary target was indeed something she had a bit of experience with (though less than her attitude would have seemed to indicate), but a moving, living target was something else. She narrowly avoided tangling her weapon in the door, or blocking Renjiro by accident, but that as about the sum of her positive contribution up to this point.
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
Ryoko staid back as best she could, but could not resist poking her head around. "Let's see if we can't find him. Maybe he turned invisible, but he should still leave footprints if he did."

Ryoko moved with the others, but took care to fall behind just ever-so-slightly. The abomination sounded bad, and getting in its way sounded worse. If it had killed the real Walthus, it was going to put up a fight now.
Worse still, she doubted her "tricks" worked on something so alien. Well, except for sapping its strength, but she had hoped to save that for a particularly vicious goblin. "Nothing wagered, nothing lost" she decided - but still let Hjorleif take the lead.

Ryoko nodded at Ceru's approach to the Problem. The whole thing left her feeling all too bad, the kind of feeling she had when she was being conned, with none of the desperate hope it might turn out better this time around, sticking with the losing proposition for all she had put into it. "I was going to send Moro, but that works even better. Ceru, I'm behind you al the way - in spirit. Never was any good at sneaking."

Ryoko regarded the strange halfling with some degree of scepticism. Sure, hermits like him were known for their oddness, but he was taking it farther than most she knew. Nevertheless, he as the best ally they had.
"I'll talk to them." she announced.
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
Ryoko nodded in support. "Snakes, despite all their bad reputation, are not evil for its own sake. Calculating and very level-headed for their limited comprehension, but cagey and rarely risking anything unless there is a need."
"Why they would strike at their handler, I don't know."
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
"Snakebite". Ryoko replied, somewhat incredulously. That might have easily been fatal, so far out from any potential help. His deep-red eyes also were cause for some concern - it might just be sleep deprivation, but what little she knew of healing, it was never a good sign.
"Maybe one of us can aid you in return? Look at your wound, have a proper bandage?" She suggested, worried the halfling might be in more danger than he realized.

Ryoko kept her wits about herself as well as any of the others, but her natural tendency to be a little bit scatterbrained, and the rapidly descending twilight made it hard on her. She just had to trust those better suited for the dismal bog to notice anything awry.

Ryoko remained low for a moment longer, intrigued but at the same time regretful of the limited intelligence of the beasts. She learned a lot, given their limited perspective << Thank you, and plentiful hunts to you >>
Ryoko rose, and looked past. "They know not where to path leads - their minds are too limited to comprehend. But we know there one significant risk here. Something they couldn't identify, but know as a maneater. If we can't make it to this cabin by nightfall, we need to be very careful"
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
<< We are looking for a man-dwelling. One lives there, alone. Can you get there on the dry path? Birds and fish do we do not fear. Are there alligators or other dangers on the way? >> Ryoko continued her eerie communication, before flashing Renjiro a smile.
"I am asking them if our path is safe, and if this path leads us there" The transition between her normal voice and the croaks was seamless and seemingly effortless as well. She did not leave her lowered position, though, waiting for an answer from the wildlife.
The weasel jumped onto her shoulder, its eyes tinged with red, and its unlikely black fur melting into the evening shadows. It tilted its head at Renjiro, its fanged mouth opening to a smile - or yawn.

Damn, still need to do some purchases with leftover gold. GM, can I do that tonight?
"I can check this, if there is anything the creatures of the swamp know, it is their home terrain. Maybe we even get some directions" Ryoko replied to Ceru's question. She crouched down, and let a hoarse, dark croak from her throat. The sound was at the same time natural, but of an infliction that wasn't entirely human.

<< Where are you ? Are you awake ? >> she intoned in the not-speech of the animals, imprinting her will into sounds as much as actually using their mode of communication.

"I don't think we should risk a fine warhorse in this bog - from what little I saw, it's treacherous, filthy and rarely has enough dry land for a good charge anyway" Ryoko replied, looking at the Sheriff for some kind of acknowledgement or support.
"Finding Walthus seems sensible. Anyone who knows these swamps will help us evade alligators, giant leeches, stirge nests, or anything worse there. Would be a bit disappointing to Ameiko if not at least a few of us made it back." she returned to Hjorleif's train of thought.
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
"Sheriff Hemlock said we should meet him at his office tomorrow in the morning. I say we wait until then. He might have some important things to say, after all." Ryoko replied, nudging Ceru playfully. "So no skipping out tonight to finish this all on your own."

Ryoko could hardly believe Eden's words. Even she knew goblins were pests, not fit to be considered anything but that. "You'd sooner find mercy in a cleric of Asmodeus than a goblin who doesn't love fire, or hate dogs. If they weren't so vicious and nasty, they'd be almost comical. Trust me, "kill you, kill me" is really what we're going to be playing." She chuckled, but decided against not push it any further - suggesting Eden to go in first, and talk things through was too antagonistic, even to her.
"So, we have our tracker, we have a heavily muscled man to rip them apart down the middle, Ceru can probably carve them up before they even manage to wake up. With Renjiro and me added into the mix, we probably should be able to handle this."
female Human Witch (Darkness) 1
As the wolf rose, the weasel on Ryoko's lap briefly focussed her, and showed her teeth - more than a yawn, but not quite a challenge yet, either. She seemed to simply try and make clear that "similar small woodland creature" did not cover her. Ryoko on the other hand didn't take the remark in any kind of poor sport - she still was trying to come up with a good response to Renjiro's announcement.
Giving up on that - the boy would probably just shrug off anything she said in order to impress Ameiko with his self-control and discipline - she turned her attention back towards Eden. "That's a good suggestion, Eden. While I have no hopes of winning the fireworks in a game of cards, we might win them in a game of 'kill you, kill me'." she offhandedly remarked, again in a joking tone of voice. She eyed the woodsmen for a moment, tried to gauge his reaction. The Ulfen hadn't been impressed, but Eden seemed more sheltered.

"Ameiko,你是认真的吗?我的意思是,你通常试图阻止我陷入麻烦,而现在你或多或少地邀请我进入一个冒险。我不能说我抱怨,你介意。那么,你不必问两次。 " Ryoko replied, somewhat hapazardly. She wasn't quite firm about the language, but found the words step by step.
Tien:
She put down her cards, hoped to bow out of the game that way - she was losing again, without much hope. Her strange, black-furred weasel perked up from beneath the table, and swiftly jumped on her lap. It eyed the assembled group with its strange, red-tinged eyes. "How about it, Ceru? You always tell me to get out more."
She folded up the cards neatly, and looked over the Ulfen. "We all meet Pharasma in the end, lets make sure we have a long line to wait through." She calmly replied, punctuating each word, and punctuating it with a creepily calm smile.
