Appearance:

Runk is of average height for a halfling and his features bear the rough look of those who have lived under the oppression of slavery. This has only been further exaggerated by his long treks into the forests and fields as a scout. His dark brown hair and deep green eyes frame a face weathered to look older than his twenty seven years. Wearing light armor and well worn traveling cloths Runks appearance is perhaps best described as functional, rugged and plain.

Raised as a slave Runk was taught early on through word and rod to keep his lips closed and his thoughts to himself. His training as a scout only reenforced this mindset and so he has become very reserved in his interactions with others. Uncomfortable in crowds he tends to keep to himself for the most part only interjecting his opinions in his areas of expertise.

Background:

Born into slavery Runk was raised on the country estate of a wealthy family from Braganza. This "home away from the city" was located just north of the Backar Forest. There Runk initially served as a household slave, then moved to working in the stables and kennels. Eventually he was taken on the lord of the manors hunts and it was during one of these that the huntmaster noticed Runks skills in observation as well as stealth. Once again Runk changed tasks and was trained as a scout. In this role he became responsible not only for finding game but for locating any Fey creatures or their traps that might interrupt his lords hunts.

In time the lord of the manor passed away and his son came into his inheritance. Uninterested in hunting he eventually started selling off the slaves of the country manor and eventually the manor itself. It was during this time that the huntmaster aided Runk in achieving his freedom. Moving from slave to laborer Runk set out to scratch out what living he could often selling his services to nobles hunting trophies or brigands hunting nobles. In the end the tasks matter little to Runk so long as it would put food in his belly and coin in his purse.

When Runk heard that the General Lords were offering citizenship for military service he made his way to Ramsgate to sign up. He hoped that becoming a citizen would provide protection from the many parties of ill intent interested in his whereabouts. This hope was swiftly crushed when he was ridiculed and rejected for his heritage and history. Disgusted at his treatment and needing to put some distance between himself and his past associates he crossed into Nirmathas in the dark of night. From there he continued West along the coast, skirted the Mushfens and eventually ended up in Sandpoint where, rumor has it, someone of skill can find work without too many questions being asked.
