Looks kick-ass though.... :-)

Guys. Just a thought, but I'd actually expand on the description of this product as it really isn't 100% clear what you get for your cash and leaves more questions than answers...

Sure - it looks brilliant and its Drow and the Underdark - amongst THE most exciting encounters for any RPG party, and the list of big names in on the production and artwork reads like a who's who... The problem is that the description really leaves a lot out about the adventure which has had to have been answered in 20+ comments...

I would point out especially the fact that this is a standalone 'mega module' and it is set for starters of 6th level and takes players up to around 20th level, and there is in production right now a 'prequel' which will help for players of levels 1-6.

The way the first paragraph reads in the description leaves the reader with the impression that this is the second or third release in a series or something...

Just a thought!

A little more information would be cool folks... Number of pages? Rough idea of what's inside etc...

Cheers!

A Cavalier is absolutely PERFECT for the Kingmaker Adventure Path... The outdoor nature of the scenerios plus the overlay of a kingdom-building series of adventures lends itself well to everything about a Cavalier, and you will have lots of fun building a kingdom with your own design of a Cavalier's Code of Honour...

Myself and a group of five players have been playing Kingmaker since it came out, and it is one of the best adventure campaigns we have ever run. The key is in plenty of prep (the sandbox nature of the adventures will mean you have to read ahead as DM to 'get' how it all fixes together) and also to download plenty of pictures off Google Images to give them a real 'feel' of a place they can adventure in, conquer and become the rulers of. I used a lot of pictures of Canada and Scandanavia as I imagined the Stolen Lands to be similar to the lands of the vikings.

How to sell it to the players? This is a totally unique series, and includes the players becoming high-ranking rulers of their own kingdom, building castles, cities and all manner of exciting things not normally covered in roleplay sessions. The beauty of it is also that you can run other adventures too as their city 'matures', meaning downtime to Kingmaker gaming can actually be used to advance their 'realm'.

Kingmaker is excellent, and I have just been typing up some one-on-one mini adventures for the players who all hold different roles of office in The Great Council.

Great fun - go for it as they won't look back!!!

I agree in that there SHOULD be a better resource of images, handouts and pictures for Pathfinder.
The modules are superb, as is just about everything else - but one has to remember that roleplaying games use a vast amount of imagination, and sparking that with great images so the players can, as a group, readily 'visualise' where there characters are is ESSENTIAL I would think...
Remember the 'good old days' of 1st Edition D&D modules with the handout booklets and pages, featuring A5 or A4 piccys from artists like Erol Otus? These would serve to really offer everyone a great visual clue as to what beastie they facing, NPCs, room layouts, landscapes etc.
Now here comes the rub... To create images takes the usual 'scarce' resources of time and money, and so rather than put them in the modules (which really spreads out the page count adding costs), I would propose that they become a DOWNLOADABLE pdf, say $1.99, for those DMs who wish to include them in their games. Paizo saves money on printing and distribution, but DMs get this extra resource if they want it - everyone is happy!
Into that, I would also suggest downloadable pdfs of squared floorplans for use with encounters and miniatures - same downloadable deal...
As a DM I would be happy to pay extra for these, and it would plug a big gap in making the Adventure Paths and other modules REALLY fantastic...
What do people think?

Wow. A long thread and I've missed out a lot of posts, so apologies if this comment has been said by someone else...

My thoughts of the ADVENTURE PATHS are that they are absolutely superb, and deliver a great series of modules that propels a party from 1st up to higher levels having a linked, common theme with enough difference in each module that the players stay interested and motivated with fresh challenges and new encounters, 'bad guys' and terrain...

I would say Paizo would be utterly insane to move away from a stable product model such as these, which is guaranteed, predictable income for the designers, and represents conintual deliverance of bottom-line from a business perspective.

From a gamer's point of view, they could of course be enhanced in many ways... I would personally enhance them by the use of online pdfs like MINIATURES FLOORPLANS that could be downloaded, so that encounters using miniatures can use awesome-looking 'official' battle layouts, making use of the old wipe-off pens on the battlemat less frequent. The use of more pictures, HANDOUTS and the like would also not go amiss - I feel this is one of the weakest areas of the Adventure Paths, and I would be happy to pay extra for these as available downloads - the good old-fashioned hand-out booklet.

So, for me, make each ADVENTURE PATH available as follows:

1) Purchase the hard-copy module booklet.
2) Download a module pdf.
3) Download the Miniatures Floor Plans pdfs for each module.
4) Download a booklet of pictures and Handouts in pdf for each module.

Of course, Paizo could ALSO still release modules in the traditional 'one-off' format, and in MEGA MODULE formats that contain all manner of extra goodies (like all the above four points in one physical boxed set, plus special limited-edition dice etc. BUT, I'd make this a 'both-and' on top of the usual Adventure Path system.

So, in summary:
- Keep the ADVENTURE PATH system,
- Add more optional pdf download options,
- Keep singular MODULES,
- And add the occasional release of limited release, all-singing, all-dancing MEGA MODULES/CAMPAIGNS (like the old D&D boxed sets such as Menzoberranzan, but turbo-charged).

Just my thoughts...
