Hello everyone,

I have recently been "granted" a Cryolite Eye (https://2e.aonprd.com/Equipment.aspx?ID=1650) by my GM. It was the end of the session so I thought it was nice, but reading it carefully, something doesn't seem to work rule-wise.

More specifically, this part "This eye allows you to see as normal, and when you succeed at a Perception check against an illusion, you get a critical success instead.".

As far as I know, are no benefits to critically succeeding a "perception check against an illusion". As far as I know, the only perception checks against an illusion you can make are during a search (to spot illusory walls or others), or to disbelieve an illusion. Both only needing a regular success for the full effect.

So either there is an obscure rule or case scenario that I'm not aware about, or this part of the item does nothing. If so, what would be the appropriate fix for such an item? I asked my GM and he is stumped as well, so I'm looking for external help.

Thanks for the answers.
