Sorry to see the game die, unfortunately I have been down with a nasty chest virus the past 2 weeks and not on the boards at all.

Thanks everyone for letting me in, it was fun whilst it lasted.

Thanks DM taking us through this.

I like Roger so much, I might just resurrect him in another game.

Depending upon what part of the day it is, Roger either expects to enter the shop as a shopper, or stealth up and check the doors etc.

"Would these people have names?" asks Roger to the two informants, as he looks over at Nelda. He puts his hand on Nelda's shoulder, "Perhaps it would be better to take them to the sheriff a little later, once we have confirmed what we have heard."

Sense Motive 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 suspicious of the drink.

Roger sniffs at the tea, and lefts it cool, before he even attempts to drink it. He watches Nelda and Geoff, to see if their reaction to the drink provide a clue. "Beware of gifts from your enemies!" he thinks. "Yes, let's wait for them to return, if return they do." But after a few moments, he starts to trust the leader and drinks with the others.

Roger follows Geoff in through the door, "Good Day Honourable One, Let me introduce myself and friends. We are are looking into the death of a dear friend of ours and it seems some of your followers have been set-up by some unscrupulous people and implicated. We come in search of the name or names of those who did this, I believe they sometimes trade a herb of relaxation for your services. Please help us, so that we can help you." Roger bows, though under his breath he whispers to his companions, "Be ready."

"Moe importantly they said the keys to the building were given to them by a human. It seems they are paid in some drug, to keep them compliant and at the mercy of their master. It's very strange, we should like to know where these skulks come from, that way we might be able to find a link to Mr Walder's killer." Roger adds with a smile. "You wouldn't happen to know where they live?"

Shrugging his shoulders, "Did we have another door to investigate, the one on the left, as we came in?" ponders the gnome. "Then we can go to the sheriff with our friend here."

"Woah, what was that, running away like a .. I don't know what ..." Roger says his eyes open wise with surprise. As his eyes follow back to the room, having travelled quickly in the direction of the fleeing skulk, he notices the door doesn't appear to be hun quite straight. He follows the door frame round and starts to laugh. "Clever ... enough to catch another skulk... " He points to the hinges on the door, "See that everyone, the doors will start to close in a moment or two, cleverly made little trap. Like those carnivorous fly trap plants, lure you in, then shuts the door to bar your escape, leaving you trapped inside." He laughs some more, as he asks if anyone has any pitons or metal, "We need to wedge the door open, so we can get out." he continues as his laughing subsides and he holds one of the doors back.

As a skulk rushes past, Roget tries to trip the creature so they can have a chance to catch this one as well. He sticks his leg out, but gets his legs tangled up and does a pirouette on the spot, not hindering the skulk in any way as he runs past.

Roger vexed by the lock and the strength of the door, as his face goes red and his brows furrow, he says angrily "Let me have one last try at that lock, damn it!!!" Before he starts to make the attempt, his arms both make big circles in front of him as you see him take three....four....five deep breaths. The colour is his cheeks returns to normal and his eyes close, as though in a trance. Carefully, very carefully he lays out a bunch of tools in front of him, reverentially putting each tool in its place. Then he turns back to Geoff, Nelda and Viviana, puts his finger across his lips and whispers "Sssssh!" With that he takes great care and a lot of time fiddling with the lock, until he cocks his head to one side and smiles. "I think that was it."

Taking a 20 on Disable Device to unlock the door 20 + 8 = 28

"I dunno, whoever got them skulks to come over here had the key, not Mrs Walder. And it would seem whoever had the keys, wasn't well treated in the taking of them. I guess it was Mr Walder, and he ended up dead and now it seemed robbed." Roger says as he tries to think things through from speaking with their captive.

"You know, its not likely any of the strange creatures out of circus are involved, the ones the rumours are blaming ... the puzzle deepens..."

Roger stops as he thinks and talks to himself, "Now we could either carry on here, or take our captive to the sheriff and carry on to find his home. Perhaps the other skulks have the keys.....hmmm...Best we carry on here.." Roger turns to the door again, giving it a great big push, well as much as he could.

I seen the damage that stuff can do, happiness at far to high a price. Can turn a man into a vicious fighter if they don't get it, makes enemies of your friends. Best if he was turned in, maybe then he could be weaned off the stuff. He looks at the others, waiting for their reaction.

"Provided none of you want to disappear from sight, it's probably a good idea you don't step on the presssure plate that opens the pit." Roger says as he looks at the stairs. "I might just be able to make it safe if you can just wait a moment." Roger descends the stairs to jam the plate, so i won't trip and open the pit. He carefully pulls a small leather bag from the inside of his coat and lays the contents on the step. Picking a what looks like a chisel, he tries to jam into the crcked stone, that acts as a trigger.

"OK, you can come down now." he says cheerfully to the group waatching him closely. "Best not to trip or take out the chisel, til we leave." He smiles up at the company of investigators.

Roger looks back to the pretty human lady, "Not as such milady, but settled here for a few years now, least it feels that way." he smiles that she took such an interest in such a small man, well all gnomes are small men really, they just never grow. However he turns back to othe task in hand, hoping to impress these folks with his enthusism, if not his skills.

Happy to continue, we can still talk and walk .. and fight if we have too.

Roger looks up at the tall woman looking down to him, like a godess. His eyes glaze as he replies as if in a trance, "My Lady Viniana, one can be noble with out their aristocratic blood flowing through your veins." He bows even lower, and looks back up into her blue eyes. "Though I have never worked on a murder before, I can still help you and the sheriff in the pursuit of the culprit. I am sure your previous experience in such murder investigations give you the edge, but as my dear old mam used to say, help is help and you never know when you need it." He doffs is dark cap in deference to the woman and adds a warm smile.

At Nelda's words, Roger sees Nelda appear from behind and smiles a broad wide smile. "I am Roger Da Shiney, investigator to gentlemen and women of noble birth." Bluff 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 He bows to the halfling. "And if I can help you in any way during this investigation, do not hesitate to ask." His voice lowers as he whispers to her, "I am so excited at the prospect of working on a real murder, even if it is of a dear friend and aquaintance." His eyes open slightly letting the light glint off their blue centre, full of anticipation and adrenaine. "Yes I so look forward to solving this mystery."

Bluff DC=26:

This is a white lie, a wish rather then an outright lie. He has yet to work for any noble as a investigator. For Mr Walder, he was more just a messanger than an investigator.

As you enter, out of the shadows of the doorway a gnome joins you, he bows and offers Geoff a small card, on it is written 'Roger Da Shiney - Investigator'. He looks around the group about to enter, "I hope you won't mind the intrusion, but Mr & Mrs Walder are both friends of mine. Well Mr Walder really, he used my services to help him locate object d'art he was interested in purchasing. It is with deep reget I mourn his passing and would like nothing better than to discover the truth about his death. It would be an honor to accompany you and help in your task." He bows respectfully to the party.

The gnome enters the room and takes a good look round, searching for clues in the debris.

Could he be the hired hand of Mrs Walder, a friend of hers has offered to pay a small amount for his services to help find out what happened. He arrives and Mrs Walder offers his services to the group.

Will obviously be a little less inclined to believe it wasn't the sphinx, but is happy to join the party to further his investigations.

Hi guys thanks for the invite ...

Let me introduce Roger Da Shiney, a gnome with penchant for gemstones, we all have our desires. Wears an eye patch to make himself look more interesting, and useful when performing silly little magic tricks for children, although his magic is more mundane than arcane.

Personality, not very clever but willing, always up for a chat and telling stories. Inquisitive as gnomes often are, quick to gain interest and just as quick to loose it. Enjoys magic, has some tricks up his sleeve. Happy go lucky sort of gnome. Likes language, but doesn't know many yet.

Wears quite colourful clothes, when not out on a job ... blue/black hair, red hat, yellow tunic. Clean shaven, black boots, takes pride in his appearance. Blue eyes match his hair, quite tall for gnome, smiles a lot.

Interested, independent investigator type.. circus always exciting... and there's a mystery... what more could a little guy want. Can be hired for money, cos that's a way to adventure, has pack of cards with his details on should anyone want him for some special purpose. To be fair, he's rarely ever had anyone take him up on his services, but there's always a first time, and if its just plain interesting, well who needs much in the way of payment.

Hoping that if he goes to the circus, maybe they'll take him on and he can do some travelling ....

Let me know if there's anything you want to change on the build, if it doesn't meet your build requirements, but I tried to build him along the right lines.
