I thought for sure that Diplomacy roll wasn't going to help the situation at all.

"Thank you General, for being open minded and hearing us out. I'm sorry it came to this but I hope it will make the Ungrounded stronger in the future. I would be honored to work with your outfit in the future should I get the chance."

So after reading review of the scenario, it seems that Othis was working for the Aspis? Was there evidence supporting this if we raided her office?

I don't know why this game isn't showing new posts for me still. Have to do better about remembering to check it

"Sir, I've been trained as a soldier all my life, to serve as a protector of Arqueros. I've gone through similar training before, and taken part in my fair share of sparring fights. But never have I ever seen poisoned blades used in such training. Why? Because that's not how you train recruits, that's how you set them up to fail." Rogan pauses and turns to Dell, motioning him to step forward. "It's such a crazy accusation and may be hard to believe, but this fellow soldier here did it at Captain Othis's command. I do not blame him at all, as he was only following the orders of a superior officer."

Rogan pats Dell on the back and grips his shoulder. "You have my thanks for helping us. I know you were just following orders and doing as you were told. I do not fault you at all for being a good soldier."

Rogan gives Dell a stern look as he listens to his words. "What are you holding back from us? There's something else you want to say, I can tell."

The thought of breaking in her office never even crossed my mind. We are here to make a good impression for the Society and that seems counterintuitive, both out of, and in character. Especially for Rogan who considers himself a soldier, that's just not something he would do to a superior.

I think it's pretty obvious that we've been set up the whole time. I get the sense that we are supposed to figure out the Captain's motive and why she wants us to fail, but I have no idea how to approach that. Any ideas?

After the battle, Rogan wipes his blade clean, and continues to keep his guard up for the rest of the trip. "I've done enough protection details to know we should expect more trouble. Whoever tried to ambush us could try again."

After the trip is complete and they successfully deliver the goods, he inquires about the group that attacked them. "What can you tell us about this Slagcrusher? Any idea who he normally works with or what he might be after? Any affiliations?"

Once back at the barracks, Rogan follows Bloodstone to the table with the other soldiers. "Yeah what he said. We've been setup to fail this entire time. There's something up with the captain but I can't quite figure out what it is."

Assuming that Jazmine and Giggles finished off that one.

Rogan deftly maneuvers around the now calm argwgh, to give Helgga a hand with the other attacker. He changes his grip on his axe to deliver a single powerful blow to the elemental.

Rogan steps up to the elemental and calls on Arqueros to aid him in protecting the caravan. He feels a surge of strength from within and slashes quickly with both ends of his axe.

"Of course it was a damn setup! How much you want to bet Othis is behind this." Rogan stands back and waits for an opening, and yells at the others. "Get out of the way and get to safety!"

Delay til the beetles and dwarves move out of the way.

Rogans offers to take point and stays a bit ahead of the group and constantly scanning the route. "I still don't trust that Othis. Mark my words, this is some sort of trap. I'll scout ahead a bit to hopefully get a jump on any danger."

Will take 10 on perception as he walks, for an 18.

I would not consider any of the bases in Korea a joy...

Rogan shakes his head at the Captain as he starts to get fed up with her attitude towards them. "The only question I have is, what sort of road blocks are you going to throw at us this time to try to sabotage us. Don't think I didn't notice the fact that you gave us a sketch of an Ungrounded General and told us it was Inysha."

"Hey, we did our job and never let that filthy thief into the casino. I say we've earned a hard drink or two. To the tavern!"

Are there some sort of authorities we can hand her over to? That would be my vote but not sure if that really exists here.

Rogan easily spots the lie as well, and makes it quite obvious as he rests his hand on his weapon, "Do you take us as fools? I've been doing security details for years, I've heard every story there is. Inysha, I presume? Cut the act, we've had our eye out for you."

"We have reason to believe some unsavory characters may be trying to sneak in tonight, and I happened to notice you wearing a disguise. Care to explain that? I need to see some identification." he tries to impose himself between the oread and the rest of the casino, so she can't easily slip past.

"I have a feeling I was right. Look at that one there, clearly trying to hide their identity." He points out the disguised oread to the others before rushing over to her. "You there, halt! We need to ask you a few questions."

After being summoned by Giggles, Rogan rushes to the foyer to join the others, just in time to catch the end of the conversation. "We should be on guard. This is just the type of distraction a master thief would use to sneak into a place like this. Be on high alert." He quickly scans the crowd for anything suspicious.

"If Jazmine and her nibbler are watching the foyer, I suggest the rest of us pair up and patrol the casino. Wouldn't want to get caught all alone if something should go down. Good to have a battle buddy."

"I recommend we keep two of us in the foyer, while the rest wander around the casino. Anyone have a way of letting us all talk remotely?"

"Well if we want to keep her out, it would be best if you could show us every available entrance into this place. And I'm guessing this Inysha would target the biggest prize. Where do you keep the valuables?"

In my head, I'm totally picturing us in Ocean's Eleven.

"I'd rather boast of slaying one. Thieving is for those not man enough to fight head on."

"Well, if there's one thing I know how to do, it's protection details. Been training all my life for. Usually I'm protecting those that can't do it themselves though, not a casino owned by a dragon. I don't know this Inysha, but they can't be too smart if they want to setal from a dragon. Does this dummy have any accomplices?"

Rogan tries to hunt down the other half orc that challenged them in the chow line. If he finds him, he asks if he know of any whispers of them being set up to fail, or suspicious actions in regards to the captain.

Do we have the opportunity to ask around with the other recruits about it?

"If you ask me, this whole place is a piss poor excuse for military training. Nobody is actually teaching anything. Maybe someone wants us, or more specifically the Society, to fail or look bad here. And maybe the Captain knows it but can't, or won't, say anything." Rogan shrugs and goes back to cleaning his armor. "Or maybe they just really suck here."

After the combat, Rogan takes a few more practice swings with the oversized hammer. "Huh, guess I remember how to use this thing after all." He scoffs at Blood Stone's little speech though, "I don't know what luck you're talking about. I've trained many years under Arqueros to practice my skill's at defending the weak. They just need better training and more experience. Glad I could give them a whipping and show that Captain up."

Rogan once again brings his hammer to bear on the combatant with the orange boots.

Seeing Helgga surrounded, Rogan's training kicks in and he moves to her aid. He take a few steps to put himself in better position before bringing his hammer down.

Sorry, had a crazy hectic weekend.

Rogan takes a step from the middle, keeping his distance from the attackers. He swings the massive hammer at the recruit that Jazmine has engaged

Attack vs red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d12 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Rogan is a bit disappointed to not see the weapon he has trained so long with, but does find one he's a bit familiar with though. He decides to choose a lucerne hammer, not knowing what sort of tricks they may be facing, and thinking the added reach may help.

Are we able to use other combat abilities, such as blessings? It's a supernatural and not a spell like.

Fervor to heal: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3) = 10

Though he doesn't agree with the Captain's methods for berating the trainees, instead of actually training them, he takes the time to ask some of the more experienced soldiers in the barracks about tips to impress her. Afterall, their mission is to make a good impression of the Society. He tries to buddy up with some of the veteran fighters, sharing tales of battle and exchanging tips on fighting techniques.

Rogan scracthes his head at her next question, unsure if this is some sort of trick. "Ummm, Earth? That seems too obvious though."

Kn Plane: 1d20 ⇒ 9

"Elementals are uhh....like people but they uhhhh..." his voice trails off before pointing to Giacomo and Bloodstone "They're elementals! Elementals are like them. What the hell does it matter? They all die the same when you hit 'em with an axe."

Though he has to take a break and tread water half way through the swim to catch his breath, he eventually makes it to the other side.

Rogan tries to climb the wall, but loses his footing as he runs up and slams into it, face first. "Uhhh nobody saw that. Didn't happen" He takes a deep breath and tries again, easily making it over. He sits atop the wall, offering his hand to the others to help pull them up.

If possible, Rogan will try to help the others with their climb.

What a waste....

Despite his massive frame, Rogan has no problems sliding through the crawl space, as if he had done it a thousand times before. "This is child's play. I thought you made soldiers here."

That's fine, he will have the armor off the through the whole course. I can't imagine trying to do obstacles in heavy armor!

Rogan takes a moment to remove his armor before attempting to cross the log, knowing he will need the extra agility on the greasy wood.

Acrobatics #1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 If for some reason he would not be allowed to remove his armor then it would be a -3 instead of +3

Rogan falls in to formation with the others and stands at attention, waiting for their orders. He follows the commands of the others precisely, and when it's his turn to lead the formation, he belts out a favorite cadence of his past.

Rogan gives the undine a long hard, stare, "You couldn't have done that earlier and made our life a bit easier?"

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Though tired from the poor night's sleep, Rogan finds a kind of peaceful calm in the rhythmic scrubbing. "Guess I need to remember back to my days at the temple a bit more and fall into old habits. This so called captain seems more interested in being a hardass than actual training though."

Upon being awoken by the Captain, Rogan jumps right out of bed fully alert. "You learn to be a light sleeper to take cat naps during guard shifts. Is it time for a run already?" Rogan seems way to awake and eager to reexperience his younger military days.

"Is this ale stronger than I'm used to, or did she really do that?" Rogan stares down into his mug looking as if to find an answer.

I don't even know how to respond to that....

Korug sits down at the table, with the mugs of ale in front of him. He whispers a small prayer to Arqueros before he begins. He pears across the table at Mikey with a grin "Alright, first to down three horns wins. Set, go!"
