As co-author (Rick "Duicarthan" Miller) of that article I loved writing up those magic items. That was some fun stuff. The robe of the mad archmage goes really far back into my home campaigns before 3e even came out. By far though, I like Nolzur's orb the best b/c it was one of those things that was just a fun item!

Actually a few years back I converted all the Greyhawk Campaign Setting items I could find to early 3e. Now I'm going back and editing those files and forming them into a pdf that will downloadable from either www.oerthjournal.com or my personal homepage or both.
What I'd really like to see and what I have been tinkering with for the Demonomicon is Tuerny the Merciless (of the Iron Flask fame) as well as Iggwilv herself. Iggwilv teamed up with Tuerny in the Greyhawk adventure, Return of the Eight and apparently had become a Nalfashnee demon. So adding him to the Demononicon would make a bit of sense. I tinkered with a VERY high level version of him on my webpage. Again, however I would modify even that to something a bit more logical.

You are correct I messed up the build initially and confused Cosmic Descryer with Thaumaturgist. DOH! Hence why I'd redo her completely.

Well that version was an old epic conjecture of mine, on where she "could" go. Not so much, what she is. However, were I given the chance to really stat her out. First off, I'd relax a bit more. Then I'd go this route. Iggwilv NE; female human sorcerer 14/fiend-blooded 10/archmage 5 Reasons why this fits... The sorcerer class works well b/c it reflects that Iggwilv is a seducer a charmer, but none too interested with the studies of magic but rather the means to an end itself. To further these abilities and throw a kick in there I chose the fiend-blooded prestige class from Heroes of Horror. This befits her being able to bear Iuz, not to mention a lot of the fascination with summoning other-planar beings. Also considering an abyssal heritage would allow her to live longer. So theres a bit of a bonus too. And finally archmage, this being her pent-ultimate acheivement and likely through the aid of one Zagig Yragerne. Anyway tell me what ya think.

While appropriate, I thought it needed more flavour such as non-core Tenser spells such as greater floating disc. Actually there are two versions on that page. One by Mike Johnson and one epic conjecture by me. Both were made w/o much of the new material like the Spell Compendium basically with a core feel to them, we also didn't include the named spells, again same reason to keep with a core feel.Adding extra spells/ items/ etc... is the job of the DM. The basics are there for them to use/ ignore/ change as they will. I think I can speak for Mike here as well in saying, we're just glad to have a working template for anyone to use. =) Cheerz, Rick "Duicarthan" Miller
Baramay wrote: There should have been more epic spell like Rick "Duicarthan" Miller's Invoked Devastation over on Canonfire. It required (12) 20+ level spell caster each using an epic spell slot and an artifact. Thanks for the vote of confidence there, Baramay. I put a LOT of thought into that spell. While at the same time trying to stick to canon and to the new 3.5 rules. Its been my opinion that anything can be done if you have the right scope of mind. For instance, its been proven that spellcasters can often do more in larger groups. So in the case of the Suel Invoked Devastation I really set the specs high to reduce the Spells enormous DC. Overall, it worked wondrously. The real catcher to making a high level or epic spell is really looking into whats its being made for, who is casting it, and how big of an area its affecting. The Epic Level Handbook and the Dungeon Masters' Guide are both really good at setting up how to make an epic spell. As for muchkins every game has one. Its just a measure of knowing how to balance out their needs for power with your game. B/c really if you think about it, there's always someone out there thinking the same thing or someone who wants that same power. No matter if its mundane or extra-ordinarily immense in proportions. As a DM I balance these out. Say for example one PC had a 48 AC at 17th level, thought they were all that. I showed them they were not b/c they were charmed the next round by the evil spellcaster. So now their allies couldn't hit them either to even knock them out. It took the spellcaster burning his dispel magic to fix the problem, while at the same time knocking out all the parties bonuses and taking the spellcaster off the offensive. =)

An elixir of longevity or something like that. potions of longevity and also elixirs of youth. The elixir of youth reduces the user's age by 1d4+1 years and the potion of longevity reduces the characters age by 1d12 years, at if I am remembering correctly.
Actually, the main page yeah its bit overpowered for many but those are templates only, the original stats/ level were used initially building them. If you want a better perspective check the NPC Encyclopedias there those are actually the REAL levels of NPC's in GH unbesmirched, taken directly from canon. So from there ppl can build the NPC's as they like. =)
Hope that helps but when I made the NPC's I was pushing to advance them in levels to see where they might be in say 20 years, as many havent seen an update since their release in 1983. Cheerz, Rick "Duicarthan" Miller
Hey there,
Alternate Oerths: This section deals with divergent campaign ideas, alternate story lines, or dramatic changes in canon/ continuity. Authors of this section are encouraged to explore the what if’s of the Greyhawk Campaign Setting and the implications therein. Denizens of the Flanaess: We are looking for detailed examinations of a single monstrous creature. The article should include a physical description, behavior, interests, history, lair, secret plans or agendas, possible interactions with Player Characters, and a probable future. Additional material, such as unique magic spells or items, weapons, or lore, are desirable but not required. Gateway to Adventure: Spotlighting adventures set in the World of Greyhawk, Gateway to Adventure submissions should be short to medium-length modules suitable for insertion into an ongoing campaign. Long adventures will be considered, but may be serialized or published separately, subject to the decision of the editors. Gazateer of the Flanaess: This section is devoted to adding detail to undeveloped areas within the Flanaess. There is no standard format for this department, though city/ state stat blocks below are good start for the basics. Any area that is sparsely detailed in existing Greyhawk lore, and as a result, makes an excellent starting point for anyone interested in contributing to the Oerth Journal, but unsure of their grasp of "canon". Individuals, establishments, guilds, events, locations, and adventure hooks are just a few of the possible articles. Of Oerth and Altar: Myriad deities and holy orders of Greyhawk are the cornucopia of this section. Each submission to this department should detail a single deity of the Flanaess using the modified Deities and Demigods and Faiths & Avatars format (Deities and Demigods/ Faiths and Avatars Template, found on www.oerthjournal.com.) We are not presently interested in repeat entries. Various deities have already been covered in the Oerth Journal, Dungeon/ Dragon magazine, Polyhedron, and official Greyhawk documents. If you do not have access to these, the editor is quite willing to tell you if a deity has already been covered somewhere. Rogue’s Gallery: Mysterious and cunning movers and shakers are all about the Flanaess. This section details the many NPC’s and organizations in the World of Greyhawk providing backgrounds, motives, histories, and developments. Tales from the Green Dragon Inn: This section is dedicated to any and all Greyhawk fiction writers and their works. The Good Oerth: Submissions to this department explore an area outside of the Flanaess, including such locales as Hepmonaland, the Land of Black Ice, the Sea of Dust, or regions even further afield. Articles may detail an area as small as a city or unusual feature, to one as large as a kingdom or broad region. With Boccob's Blessing: This section presents an in-depth view of a single unique magical item, artifact, or relic is examined and detailed in each installment of this department. Submissions should include a physical description; history; goals and aims of the item, if intelligent; powers; curses, repercussions, or malign effects of using the item; the location or possible locations of the item in Greyhawk; and adventure hooks. Our new Editors list is as follows...
I invite everyone to take a gander and feel free to send article proposals and art submissions to oerthjournal (at) gmail (dot) com. We look forward to your submissions! Cheerz,
