At a young age, the second born son of a vassal family to House Orlovsky, Richard was fostered to House Manning to strengthen ties with the major noble house Garess. He quickly became close to Ser Kevan, the second born of the Mannings, and heir apparent after his older brother, Stephan, was killed. Throughout his life in the Manning household, he’s grown very attached to the family, and his loyalties lie strictly to them first.
As was standard for the boys of his social standing, Richard practiced and grew fond of falconry, and was fairly talented at hunting as well. He was a little odd in comparison to the others he hunted with: where his fellow huntsmen used spears and bows, Richard used a large crossbow that he hefted around against his shoulder, taking aim and firing as he rode. He became quite talented at this, and has learned a few unique tricks with the weapon.
Of course, no noble child was allowed to go through life without rounded knowledges, and so Richard was taught how to smith. His talent laid in working with leather and steel, making leather outfits for the hunters and shining plate armor for the knights.
Now, in the years after the wedding of Lord Kevan and Lady Sylvia, Richard has worked as the head of the new Lord Manning’s personal guards. Rumor has made its way to Richards ears that he may be chosen for an expedition into the infamous and dangerous Stolen Lands, though none know much more about the trip other than the destination.
