Background
Though he was born in the Midlands, Baerothad was raised on the grounds of the Temple of Sarenrae. Orphaned by a house fire at a young age, his life might have gone quite badly, save that a priest of the Dawnflower took pity on the boy and took him in. Likely, due to the fact that he proved to be an excellent candidate to become a divine caster. Though initially he wanted to become a cleric, Baer eventually decided upon the military activities of the Sarenaen Warpriests.
Life was relatively calm and ordinary until the day Baerodan was accused and even jailed for the murder of a man in a tavern near the docks.
A supposed eyewitness account from a local fisherman seemed to be enough to seal the case, but Baerothad fortunately had enough alibis that sentencing wasn’t immediate. Someone confronted the fisherman and discovered he was intimidated into providing false witness and forced into planting the murder weapon by an unnamed, but actual murderer. Baerothad eventually learned he was a local crime lord named Gaedren Lamm.
Suspiciously, the fisherman was killed before he could recant his testimony. Although this removed the key witness and resulted in Baerothad being set free, the stigma was enough to badly damage his reputation. The damage had been done, and Baer was asked to take a leave of absence from his duties in the temple while the matter remained in doubt.
As a result, Baer was forced to self-train and promised himelf that he would become better at his profession despite the spurning of his peers. Surely Sarenrae knew he was telling the truth! Now, he spends his time seeking to find evidence that ties Gaedren to the murder, so that he can clear his name.
