Savage tides, Renac Trutovu
Born to a moderately well off family that had managed to climb its way into the upper echelon’s of society the Truthovu family was in position for success and plenty. Finally having money and favors to no longer worry about survival the youngest son Renac was sent to join the guard after completing his studies at the Alabaster Academy. Not set to inherit and unable to find a suitor that would help or improve the family his fate was decided before he even had a chance to choose. At the Alabaster Academy he was taught martial skills as well as knowledge about the city and its founders. His rather plain abilities kept him back from more arcane pursuits and only allowed him to succeed in physical events and the wordplay; wrestling, dueling, swimming, and debating. This made him a fast friend and quite popular with other students, his orator skills made him a favorite for drinks and stories.
Though his studies did little to inspire him unlike others who took to the arcane or other academic studies his favorite proved to be religion. He was drawn to learning about the sun god Pelor, and over the years he devoted all his studies and his time to the study of Pelor. A chaplain of Pelor’s, Father Grimahaw, saw his devotion and took him under his wing. By the time he graduated at the age of 25 he had sworn an oath to uphold the values of Pelor. Upon graduation his father (Iudas) had pulled some strings to get him as a house guard for a higher ranking family in the district, the Kellani family. Though soon after he began to suspect that the family was funded less from investments but from drugs.
After starting to search and look for proof of illegal activity, it ended when he went snooping around and found himself in the commoner's quarters. Another guard walked in with a maid and who later said they were found together. This was what got him fired from his job and later his father angrily scolded him and disowned him saying he was a was "Unfit of his societal station". With no job and disowned he now looks for work. His older brother a mage no longer even talked or mentioned his name, he was so in step with their father. His older sister showed pity but after threats of further punishment to her relented and followed suit in condemnation. (Their mother having died during childbirth.)
The entire affair was moderately big news, being heralded as a small time scandal between a promising young noble and a young maid. Causing work as a guard and his reputation to be mired and stained. Though after having spent time trying to recover from this turbulent twist in his life an old friend from the Alabaster Academy; Lavinia Vanderboran reached out to him in a time of need.
