About Remy Deverin

Backstory:
Remy grew up in Magnimar, City of Monuments, as the younger son of a fairly successful merchant. His father paid for a very expensive education, but Remy was bored by every minute of it. His true dream, was to become a courageous, dashing adventurer like those in the stories he loved. From a young age, Remy spent any time he could free up soaking up bards' tales or tagging along with any thief he could keep up with. He actually became almost somewhat of a pet to a small band of thieves who called themselves the "Gold Dragons." When he was 13, they thought it would be funny to give him the band tattoo on his forearm. He was so proud he could burst and he endured the pain bravely. But if he thought the pain of the tattoo was bad, it was a summer breeze compared to the wrath of his father.

Remy was immediately shipped off to a "podunk" town called Sandpoint to live with his father's sister, Kendra. She was mayor of the town and known as a kind, but firm hand. Remy adored his aunt Kendra. The problem was that he was actually on his way to becoming a rather prodigious thief and he brought these skills to Sandpoint. He immediately earned himself a reputation as a rascal. He really only behaved himself in the company of two people, his aunt Kendra and his not-secret-at-all crush, Ameiko Kaijitsu. She was a few years older, but he would have gotten her the Moon at the asking. Charming and handsome though he was becoming, Ameiko remained the nymph he could never quite catch.

Remy actually came to really love Sandpoint and his visits home to Magnimar became more and more infrequent. Remy had a bustling frontier town to explore (and terrorize with is mischief). Even during the "Late Unpleasantness" and the temple fire, Remy thrived. He spent all of time investigating those crimes, convinced that they would bring him an adventurer's fame and fortune, and Ameiko's affection.

Today, Remy helps his aunt in her trading and shipping business. He's quite good at it though he finds it dreadfully dull. He still longs to run away and join up with a party of adventurers for a life of harrowing excitement.

Appearance:
Remy has grown from a scrawny pest into a rather handsome young man. He's tall, dark, and handsome, with a solid build and an easy smile. The local girls all know him well, though they also know of his feelings for Ameiko. He has a messy flop of hair and a thick scruff on his chin. He thinks the scruff makes him look more like an adventurer. He has a scar on his left eyebrow from his first (and last) attempt to climb the Old Light ruin.

Drives/Goals/Aspirations:
Remy's dream is to run off and become an adventurer. He dreams of fighting evil monsters and discovering kingly treasures hoards. Even at 22 years old, he still loves to sneak around town and play pranks of people to test his skill. He also dreams of some day winning Ameiko's heart and hand.

Aw, c'mon, Aunt Kendra! I didn't intend to keep the money. You know I never do. I just wanted to see the old bat's face when he reached for his purse and it was gone. He was really quite careless, you know. I probably taught him a lesson that will save him a fortune some day. He ought to be paying me a fee. He flashed his aunt that boyish grin that Kendra had become immune to years earlier.

Remy, that man was from Tian Xia. They have different customs there. He wants your hands cut off. Remy started to shout his protest when she cut him off. Clearly, I will not be allowing that, but you have to understand that you are a person of some reputation. You're a Deverin, and what you do reflects on me, too. I'll have your word that you will no longer terrorize people who don't know your brand of mischief. It's one thing to pester Old Quinn or Father Zantus, but no more strangers. You're a grown man, for Desna's sake! He looked to the ground and muttered an agreement and she gave him that understanding smile. Get back to work, now. I want the rest of the shipping report before you go to your fencing lesson.
