About Regina VermisBackstory:
..."To be alive is a fascinating thing. The pain we feel, it is wonderful. A divine indication of our very being, a truth we can actually feel. No need to question life's existence, just know that we are because of the sensation. And so, to you i ask: would you like to join me in this excruciating yet blissful evidence of life?"... Regina always had an unhealthy fascination with worms, her parents first discovery of this was when she was caught splitting them in half at a young age to watch them squirm. Her eyes were always so questioning when she was being scolded, as though the interest was completely natural to her and she was confounded as to why this was something deserving punishment. As she grew older, she learned to hide her interests as others' never seemed to understand. Though she grew up in the infernal nation of Cheliax, even her machinations were of a kind best left behind closed doors. She began to come to learn more about the the simplest of land animals, different varieties from mundane vermin that filter the ground to giants of legend known for swallowing great heroes whole. They were like the very building blocks upon which greater creatures were built. She soon even found herself a great admiration for Yhidothrus, the ravager, and the way it seemed to recycle time and space itself. Further research into Yhidothrus and its unholy being led her to discovery of various methods in which those that feared death would begin to become absorbed in extending their life-- she greatly respected the concept of such a thing, life that is. However, she also was somewhat turned off by the idea that death was something to avoided, at least a death of old age. Life would lose half its meaning if it wasn't without death that you might hold existence on such a pedestal. One thing that did fascinate her, was an idea in combining these concepts of time and age, and speeding up certain processes. Of course, these studies were kept private. Meanwhile, Regina's family tried to bring her down more constructive paths; however, she would always find some way to twist things into discussions about life, its meanings, and the logical progression of time. At times they would bring introduce her to another family with a female of her age to be a friend-- that ended poorly the first time and they didn't dare try again after the daughter found herself screaming with Regina's own blood covering the two of them; Regina when asked would just exclaim "Well you see it's odd... it worked last time..." bleeding the entire time. Other times, they would try to bring her a potential suitor, hoping that a more authoritative male figure could reign in her disturbing tendencies. Such individuals would commonly join her in bed for the first time, she herself not denying such a pleasure, but they would always scream by the end of it. Something about the manacles being too... real. What kind of Chelish men were they that they did not enjoy such play? Of course manacles would have spikes on them. Why wouldn't they? In her free time, Regina would inflict pain on more than just worms and men... stray animals she found would turn up (never dead) in an ally with missing tails... she herself has numerous cuts below her clothes to feel the same sensations. Eventually, her desire research yielded results: through a deific obedience to Yhidothrus and a small study of the arcane and the natural realm to move things along. As she coughed up the last of the worms that filled her throat after it was done, the result was that she began to waste away-- her skin, while not in a constant state of decay, seemed to show signs of ridges and long lines... Those who looked close enough could tell it almost seemed like the bumps might be wriggling beneath her skin. Furthermore, she found herself with a new connection to worms that she had not had prior... and a strange divinity that led her to radiate the energy of that to which she devoted her study. Some blasphemous matrimony of her own obsession with life and the demon lord, Regina was something new. She'd left home after this event, obviously not able to stay in home. She focused her studies further into Yhidothrus, and her command of worms-- eventually finding a giant that became a companion, one of a few years by this point, unimaginatively named Wurm. While her worship to that of a demon lord of hate, her own interests were more of curiosity and honestly she disliked the idea of loss of life. While the mindless creatures she had grown to offer with less care as they hadn't the ability to comprehend life's wonders, she was the type of person to always help other creatures injured if she could... though never did she do so with intentional "care," such as to be gentle. She enjoyed many other religions as well, holding a great adoration for deities such as Irori, Sarenrae, and Zon-Kuthon. While her true devotion lay elsewhere, she never felt bound by the tenants of his hateful views. The prospect of a new church being built in Sandpoint drew enough of her interest to make that her next destination in her wanderings around Varisia. As such, she was moving through with little more than a passing interest. ..."Why do others not understand my desire to share my respect of life?"...
Description:
Standing at an average height and weight for a Human female, Regina has a face that appears to be in a constant flux-- rivets and bumbs on her face look like they're in different places the next time you see her. Often, holes seem to appear in her skin, though they never bleed. Looking long enough and you may also see a wrinkle of skin even wriggle. In addition, her hair forms near lineless dreads that almost make it resemble that of a Medusa. Despite her menacing and grotesque appearance there is an almost radiant aura about her, an area of positive energy that seems to cause her to glow to those with a sense to the divine. To her side, a giant worm follows obeying her commands. Those that know her past the discomforting face, find her to be generally likable, and a social person. Those that know her past the sociable personality find her mentally warped in a way hard to describe-- in the sense that she absolutely adores the very concept of pain, both receiving and inflicting such a feeling on other creatures; despite this she not only fears but dislikes the death of any creature.
