I have travelled across the country and stayed in many hotels. Being from Portland, it is always an adjustment to have to pay for Wifi, but I have done so. But $14.95 a day, per device was ridiculous and should have been negotiated down, especially for a gaming convention

The parking prices were annoying. I tried to save money by purchasing some simple foods, only to find no freaking refrigerator in my room. And the straw that broke the camels back for me was no coffee in the morning. Okay, I understand why there was no continental breakfast (even though Coast Bellevue had one and even your cheap-arse Motel-6 provides apples, bananas and spongy bagels), but NO COFFEE until after 8AM, and none on Sunday. This is the Northwest. I wanted to strangle someone.

Finally, the reservation service was not only awful, but they were incredibly misleading. I booked a double bed for my teenage son and myself the day the location was announced. The small print said a double room was subject to availability, but I figured I had booked plenty early enough. I got an email from them at 8PM on Sunday before the Con telling me they only had a Queen with rollaway for me. Then they lied and said that most of the rooms for the Paizo block had been booked in November. Then... I couldn't believe this... when my gaming buddy arrived and booked a room.. on the day of the convention... he got a double bed... with a refrigerator... and a balcony.

What?

I especially feel bad for all of those young gamers and the ones that love Paizo, love gaming, and blew their budgets to come to PaizoCon, only to get soaked by the hotel. Given the cockup with construction, lousy acoustics, a dishonest staff, a potential of hidden fees over $40.00 a day, lack of a refrigerator and a general lack of institutional hospitality, I would hate to reward the Marriott with a renewed contract for next year.
