Tongue of the Sun and Moon (Ex)
A monk of 17th level or higher can speak with any living creature.

I was wondering with this ability can my monk speak with any creature in there language? Plus can I wright in said language as well? Just want to know my limitations with this ability thank you.

Thank you for the clear up this really helps

Thank you and that goes for the reposition move as well correct?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My dm and I had a few questions on Redirection. Im a lvl 19 Flowing monk and during a battle I just had a vampire came up and tried to hit me. so I used my Redirection ability to trip or redirect him. I successfully triped him but my dm had him finish off his full round attack on the ground. were wondering if a person is triped by my Redirection ability does that interupt the rest of his attacks and can the vampire attack while hes on the ground.

also if I were to have redirected and repositioned him instead of triping him does that interupet his turn from attacking me with the rest of his attacks.

So our group has been playing for 10 months and the campaign we are playing is going to be go past level 20 my flowing monk just hit 16 last session, I'm 4 lvls away from 20 and I still don't know what class I wanna take. I was wondering if an of you had any suggestions, any advice would be apreciated thak you.

Hi I had a question about the monk ability abundant step, if my level 16 was grappled by a kraken, true story, could I use this ability to get out of the grapple? My dm was cool and said he didn't see why not, if he decided that it wouldn't work I would be dead, he's ok with it but I was just wanting to know the official rules on this thank you.

wow you guys took this alot farther than I thought you all would. lol thanks for all the good debates its good to here from deferent people's opinion

Thank you this has really helped me out

Ive always wondered about this, so at lvl 20 you gain perfect self. here is the literal quote from pathfinder Core rule book.

"Perfect Self: At 20th level, a monk becomes a magical
creature. He is forevermore treated as an outsider rather
than as a humanoid (or whatever the monk’s creature
type was) for the purpose of spells and magical effects.
Additionally, the monk gains damage reduction 10/
chaotic, which allows him to ignore the first 10 points of
damage from any attack made by a nonchaotic weapon or
by any natural attack made by a creature that doesn’t have
similar damage reduction. Unlike other outsiders, the
monk can still be brought back from the dead as if he were
a member of his previous creature type."

My question is he is a outsider for the purpose of spells and magical effects, could some one tell me or give me a short list of what specific spells and magical abilities they are refering to?

Thank you

tahnk you for the clarification my dm just wanted to see this post to make sure so ill show him and it should be cool thanks again guys

So I had a question about the Crane style feats. Crane wing says you can and i quote:

"Once per round while using Crane Style, when
you have at least one hand free and are either fighting defensively or using the total defense action, you can deflect one melee weapon attack that would normally hit you. You expend no action to def lect the attack, but you must be aware of it and not f lat-footed. An attack so
deflected deals no damage to you."

My DM is haveing a hard time comeing to grasp this and insted of arguing with him i said i would consult the forums. If an enemy confirms a critical hit on me, witch seems to happen a lot lol, does this feat still deflect the attack? He says that becouse they crit then this feat does not work I would like to think it does if some one could clarify this for me it would be most apriciated

thank you

Thank you all for the great insight this helped out alot

Hi, I have a lvl 6 flowing monk in this campaign my group is doing and I was curriouse on how mixing more than one archtype into a character? this is going to be a high end character, pass lvl 20, and i was hoping on also making him a master of many styles archtype monk as well, can this work? if some one could just tell me how mizxing archtypes work that would be great thank you

So I just got to lvl 20 on my Normal Monk and he gains the perfect self ability. so i become an outsider, so i looked up what abilities and extra stuff you get for being an outsider and i was just curious if this is exactly what you get:

d10 Hit Dice.
• Base attack bonus equal to total Hit Dice (fast progression).
• Two good saving throws, usually Reflex and Will.
• Skill points equal to 6 + Int modifier (minimum 1) per Hit Die. The following are class skills for outsiders: Bluff, Craft, Knowledge (planes), Perception, Sense Motive, and Stealth. Due to their varied nature, outsiders also receive 4 additional class skills determined by the creature's theme.
Traits: An outsider possesses the following traits (unless otherwise noted in a creature's entry).
• Darkvision 60 feet.
• Unlike most living creatures, an outsider does not have a dual nature—its soul and body form one unit. When an outsider is slain, no soul is set loose. Spells that restore souls to their bodies, such as raise dead, reincarnate, and resurrection, don't work on an outsider. It takes a different magical effect, such as limited wish, wish, miracle, or true resurrection to restore it to life. An outsider with the native subtype can be raised, reincarnated, or resurrected just as other living creatures can be.
• Proficient with all simple and martial weapons and any weapons mentioned in its entry.
• Proficient with whatever type of armor (light, medium, or heavy) it is described as wearing, as well as all lighter types. Outsiders not indicated as wearing armor are not proficient with armor. Outsiders are proficient with shields if they are proficient with any form of armor.
• Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep.

So do i re roll for my health and add any or all of these bonuses that apply or am i just completely wrong on this Please some one clarify :)
