Raustikin, confused and angry, looks around. His little hairs are getting singed, which is painful even if it is not technically hurting him. He sees the fishmen have taken an interest in someone on the aft. Before my action, I'd like to know a couple things. Is Heavenly safe? And what would it take to reach the sahuagin on the aft (do I have to go up or down and how far away are they) and how many are there? I might try to help the guy they were searching for, but I'm not sure yet.

Raustikin feels the claws of anger rise inside of him; tired of being jaunted around, the groans of death, burning flesh and the scent of explosions and magic assult, he stands, lifts his sword and hacks at the nearest scaly creature he can find. Beren has shown him the way - revenge has begun. I must first stand (move action), move 5-feet (if necessary), and whack a sahuagin with the scimitar. Attack roll 6 + 3 = 9.

Dragonmann wrote: What weapon did you have readied? The shaman is the one out in the water nearly 100 feet away. I had the scimitar weapon ready - this is the only one I brought with me to the boat. I didn't realize that the shaman was so far away (I'm having a little trouble visualizing the scene, probably since I didn't succeed with any Spot checks). I guess I'll just wait for any violence happening nearby or help anyone that looks to be in immediate danger.

Since I was holding my action, can I attack the shaman to distract his spellcast? Am I close enough? I do need to stand first, then attack. If I can attack, the result would be 18+3 = 21, dam 15 hp.

As the ship pitches, Raustikin loses his bearing and falls. Looking around he sees Brick has secured Heavenly but also notices Beren talking to the fishmen. Cautious, Raustikin stays behind a table, looking around for any motion of violence, ready to pounce on any fishmen that harm any of the ladies. I'm going to ready my action for any sign of direct attack and basically get a handle on the scene. If the sahuagin are handling any of the girls roughly, I'm going to do what I can to help the ladies.

Raustikin stands and looks around, taking in the situation. He looks for Heavenly and pulls out his weapon. He can feel the wildness growing on him. If Heavenly is alive, he moves between her and the sahuagin. If not, he merely prepares for battle. He shifts. I'm going on vacation for the next three days. I probably won't have much access to a computer, but Utak, feel free to run my character. Just don't get me killed! Thanks everyone.

Perhaps if he can overhear them, he could get a better idea of what is going on. Listen 15 + 3 = 18. Raustikin studies the sea to find what Beren and Valessa are talking about.

Raustikin stares at Beren, then at Valessa, then Ruuz, then Brick. Is this a con? he wonders. But why would they con me? I'm not rich, I have no money with me. Perhaps they are friends of one of my enemies, Nosthashad perhaps. Raustikin resolves to immediately stop drinking so he might get his barings, and tells himself that he is not to leave with these people. "I'll join you shortly," he says to Beren. He looks at the scratch marks on the table and gets an idea. He discreetly makes more scratch marks. When finished, he adds his chair to the changling's table and sits. For those who examine the table: Spoiler: The table has scratch marks that spell out, "You're welcome."

He sits back with a more leisurely posture and asks casually, "So my friend, what do you do in Stormreach? Also, I will need lodging tonight. Can you recommend a good inn?" Raustikin leans back and intensely studies Beren. He's not sure of Beren's motivations. It's not often one strikes up a conversation at the Tethered Wench unless a person wants something...or somebody. He begins to get a little paranoid as he thinks of the strange events of the night. What if it is just a set up? He remains silent for a moment before continuing. "I'm training. For an inn, I would recommend the Harbor. A lot of people stay there." Actually, this is where Raustikin stayed when he first arrived in Stormreach. "It's out of the way and a good place to keep secrets." I use Sense Motive on Beren and get 4+3=7. For all I know, you are masterminding an evil plot to take over the world. Oh well, best keep my guard up.

The silver braid actually has more significance to Raustikin than it is a common religious practice, so your Knowledge-Religion probably won't reveal much to you. Beren Kemble wrote: "So, Raustikin", Beren inquires, "Tell me, how long have you been in Stormreach? Do you visit this establishment often?" "I've been here six moons. I started coming here many days ago, not sure how many." Ruastikin's answers are short, although Beren doesn't sense any curtness, just a man of few words. Beren Kemble wrote: "I really need a drink. What are you having?" he asks his shifter friend. "I do not know. That woman over there gave it to me." He motions to a lovely waitress. He holds on to the drink like its a precious treasure. "She's nice." He quickly changes the conversation. "Where are you from? Why are you here?"

Raustikin replies, "I haven't had much talk with women." For some reason, he feels able to open up to this fellow shifter. Perhaps its the drinks or the strangeness of the night. However, Raustikin immediately grabs the napkin, hiding its contents and slowly moving it into the folds of his robe behind his armor. He looks at Beren and says, "Sorry, I'm Raustikin." Crashing PCs suck. Hope it works out.

As if a beast suddenly appeared out of the jungle, Raustikin is shocked out of his trance-like state by something talking to him. Jerking his head, he looks up and sees a dark skinned man - judging by his roughness probably a shifter, and with the red tint in his skin probably from Droaam. Gathering his thoughts, Raustikin realizes the man has asked an unlikely question, to join Raustikin at his table. Momentarily left off guard Raustikin asks, "Do you have a quill and ink?" As soon as he blurts this out, he realizes his faux pas. He then weakly tries to indicate with a nod of the head that the man may sit.

Settling down some, Raustikin sips the libation slowly, taking in the beauty of the moment, hoping it lasts. The drink is not only divine, but its meaning more intoxicating than the liquor. He tries to watch Heavenly secretly, but his bluff is to no avail. She knows he is watching as her muscles stretch and contract beneath her skin when she moves from table to table. I must get a quill and ink, he says to himself, and begins to looks about, his head swirling with lights, sweaty creatures, drinks, the ocean, and Heavenly.

Raustikin sits back as the changling focuses on another lady. He watches them quietly and attempts to listen to their odd conversation. He drops four more silver on the table to order his last drink of the night. If I had not had three drinks I may have noticed more details, but...it was not to be. Ruuz, I would guess that it would probably be a Spot DC 10 to notice that I'm watching with a -4 circumstance penalty for all the distractions (plus the intoxication penalties). But I don't want to supersede the DM's authority and I don't know if players can make those assumptions. (First PbP)

Character all finished. The profile explains why I might be at the Tethered Wench when the adventure begins (I'm just a regular customer). Typically I would be carrying the curing potion, the armor, scimitar (loosely, but probably ineffectively hidden underneath the armor in the robe), and about 20 sp into such a shady and rough place. I try not to get into fights here as I don't want to be kicked out permanently. |
