History:
Born in the Eldeen Reaches by a recluse shifter couple, Raustikin was two when his parents were killed by a swarm of fiendish wasps while hunting. Raustikin quickly learned how to survive; however, he was greatly aided by his psionic powers. Often seen glowing from afar and his space clearly marked by a strange sticky substance, most creatures stayed away.

As he grew older, a elderly lycanthrope brought him to a small village named Whispering Spring to "civilize" the boy and gave him the name Raustikin. He never fit in and even his adopter tried to squelch his freakish powers.

When he grew old enough, he decided to leave Whispering Spring to learn more about his powers. He made his way to Sharn, but did not adapt easily to urban life and quickly found himself in jail. However, an Inspired "rescued" him (by paying off the guards) and took him under his wing. Treating him almost like a slave and giving him shady jobs, the Inspired, named Nosthashad, promised to show him how to harness his powers, but never actually did. Nosthashad decided to use Raustikin to kill an "annoying" kalastar monk in Stormreach.

Once in Stormreach, Raustikin could quickly see that Gavaknath was a humble and righteous monk and turned on his master. In return, Gavaknath made Raustikin an apprentice and offered him a place to stay and food on a couple conditions: Raustikin must turn to il-Yannath, the Path of Light, and he must perform simple but time consuming chores.

Today Raustikin feels he is on the right path, but yearns for the wilderness and freedom. In fact this conflict creates much inner turmoil and many nights he climbs to the top of roofs and gazes at the stars and sometimes even howls. This vicarious commitment to a strict path could easily be destroyed by a slight change of circumstances.

Appearance:
Raustikin is a strong though lean man with long nappy reddish hair that he braids and a ragged but short beard. One silver braid in his hair represents his commitment to il-Yannath. He may have been handsome, if he did not have so many scars gained from his childhood of scavenging in the woods. His left hand has self made and crude purple tattoo lines that represent the transitions in his life (he has three so far). When he shifts, these tattoos become barbed. He wears a simple monk's robe under his armor (both gifts from Gavaknath). The folds help hide his scimitar. He often wears his hood up so as not to be noticed or recognized.

Personality:
Shy and aloof, he basically keeps to his master's house on the edge of town where the two live very simple lives and continue to train. However, at night, his wild side comes out and his latest desire, the female, has him frequenting the Tethered Wench. He would never harm anyone, but he doesn't know how to release his needs and women don't show any interest in him. Much to his master's dismay, he frequently gets into brawls. He has not been arrested yet because his master is such a respected member of the city.
