Liberty's Edge

I know this is a really old thread, but if anyone has stumbled across this page, there are official retraining rules from Ultimate Campaign. You can find them at the D20PFSRD by clicking here.

Liberty's Edge

NOTE: If there is any official information available, that'd be awesome, but I can't find any, so I am also looking for opinions if there is no official word.

Let's say that you are a Level 15 Ranger with Rapid Shot. Though it doesn't specify, everyone I've met interprets the feat as an extra shot at highest BAB. The problem is that it doesn't say when this extra attack occurs. My question is, what would be the order of attacks?

Is it +15/+15(RS)/+10/+5? In general, attacks are performed in descending order of BAB. I have always used this method simply because it is easier to group the BABs when rolling. However, some interpret the line "extra shot" to mean that the attack is tacked on to the end, making it +15/+10/+5/+15(RS)?

To me, the first makes more sense story-wise. The more attacks that you do in a round the more that your accuracy would suffer due to fatigue and accuracy is often sacrificed for speed. It makes no sense to me that someone would fire shots at worse and worse accuracy, then all of a sudden become more accurate, but I am open to arguments. Thoughts?

Does anyone know whether these rings are PFS legal?

Liberty's Edge

I am currently creating a combat medic, something with a high enough AC that I can heal in combat if needed. An idea that I was interested in pursuing is holding a weapon in my main hand, a buckler strapped to my off-arm, and a cure wand in my off-hand. I completely understand that if I were to use the wand, I would lose the AC bonus for that round. However, if I were simply holding the wand (not performing ANY actions with it), would I still lose the shield bonus to AC? I would simply like to avoid having to expend a move action to draw/stow my wand.

NOTE: I don't wish to offend, but I would like to point out that this is a PFS character. As such, I'm not really interested in a personal interpretation of RAI or how you might rule it if you were a GM. Short of any official response that someone may have found, I am interested in your interpretations of RAW. I have searched quite a bit online and so far, I haven't been able to find a conclusion that goes one way or another.

I'm generally looking for an official rule about this for PFS. If this were a home campaign, there's no way that I would allow it, but this is PFS where RAW + erratas are the rules. Just as, in PFS, if you are a two-handed ranger, you can skip cleave and simply get great cleave at level 6 because there is nothing in the language of the feat that requires cleave. RAW, great cleave can stand alone and ranger combat style feats ignore pre-reqs. According to RAW, I believe that this racial trait, in a similar way, grants darkvision 90 feet as the language is not dependent upon already having darkvision. Just as with great cleave, they simply assume that you already have the pre-reqs without stating it.

I have a friend who is making a Half-Orc Brawler and he has a question about the "Acute Darkvision" racial trait. The trait reads "Some half-orcs have exceptionally sharp darkvision, gaining darkvision 90 feet. This racial trait replace orc ferocity." The question is, if he already took the racial trait "Arena Bred", which gives up weapon familiarity and darkvision, could "Acute Darkvision" give him an improved darkvision anyway as the language says "gaining darkvision 90 feet", not extending or improving his darkvision from 60 to 90?
