My friend had a Traveler character he named after his watch and the beer he was drinking when he rolled him up: Hamms Casio
Another buddy of mine played a dwarf from a clan whose last names were car parts...his character was Oilcan Camshaft....and he saw NO humor in anyone making fun of the name.
My only current PC has kind of a weird name: Daedalus Long, but his alias he uses in public is Darmin Short....
Another buddy of mine tends to give his characters arabic names, even though he always plays elves or dwarves.
My wife names her characters are Wheel of Time characters and/or names she finds in the PH....she finds making up names to be the most tedious thing in D&D.
If she doesn't like making up names she could do what I do to come up with NPC names.....get a book of baby names and use them. This makes it very easy and you can come up with a name without racking your brain (which I had done a few times). But you won't come up witht he cute names you find in this post.
Incidentally, I was DMing for a couple of friends a long time ago and one of them had a mage. She wanted to know what school of magic she had graduated from so she could write it down on her charater sheet (mages and their obsessiveness with details!). I couldn't think of anything (not having a book of baby names at the time) so she ended up graduating from Dick Wadd's School of Sorcery!
