I read through the trophy hunter ranger and saw that even though it states the use of firearms in the description they gain no proficiency with a firearm and they don't gain firearms does this mean they know tricks with them though they aren't trained with them or even have them? Why don't they gain what the other gunslinger accociated archetypes get? Was it an accident or omission or do they really lack a gun and training? I would like some answer to this generallity. I would also like some working house rules that aren't overpowering but don't leave as is.

Yes I found this very vague and open also I like your house rule of getting proficiency and a gun like other archetypes I'll see if my gm will allow it but I already have proficiency and a gun for being a gunslinger but m putting my second level in trophy hunter ranger and our campaign has no gold coins to speak of because we are on an island by ourselves and if the trophy hunter gained a gun at first level it would be nice so I can get a pistol also but it would make sense that since I already have one I don't get another just for taking another class
