"So it is you who has trapped us in this place! What do you want with us, scoundrel?!"
RandomNinja draws his rubber chicken and is confused as to where his +4 shortsword went.

Artificial Intelligence
As a quick refresher from where we left off last game:
As dawn's light breaks deep into the cave you all camped in last night, the slaves stand over all of you prepping breakfast. Looking curiously back and forth as to who was supposed to be on watch, you are comforted by the bright healthy smiles of what used to be wan faces. One of the slaves, who you know recognize as a half elf, draws forth a bundle of sticks and herbs, "I dropped this into the fire to help you rest better while me and Brill took watch. You all seemed tired and have done so much for us we wanted to return the favor." They ask again for an escort to either Summit Hall across the river in the east or Red Larch in the west, seeing as they are the closest places for safety. They also mention that following the river north of here is Rivergard Keep, a place they believe they were being held and transferred from. There were many more slaves being carted from there, some from around here the The Dessarin Valley and some as far away as Mirabar.
Most characters are on board with heading to Summit Hall to drop off villagers and attempting to gain assistance from the Knights of Samular. I believe Princess has been elected the leader of our band of adventurers.

Acrobatics for red: 1d20 ⇒ 9
I guess aoo
Artificial Intelligence
Tigger's attack hits.
green atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
red atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Artificial Intelligence
Blue falls. Seeing the loss of their comrade and Tural's disappearance the remaining two back up.
green atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
red atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Artificial Intelligence
The blue-marked creature still stands.
green atk vs Tural: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
blue atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
red atk vs Tigger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Artificial Intelligence
ok, just a reminder since I only saw 1 roll.
The red marked one is in rough shape, but still lives.
green atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
blue atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
red atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
only 1 dmg, so I assume it is all absorbed in DR.
Artificial Intelligence
You need double rolls for all D20's!
Artificial Intelligence
The hideous creatures attack Tural, still standing in the doorway.
green atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
blue atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
red atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
I'll get you next time, Gadget!
Artificial Intelligence
:D
Tural's wounds feel strange, as though they won't heal right.
All Heal checks applied to Tural suffer a –10 penalty. In addition, anyone using magical healing on him must make a DC 25 caster level check to succeed.
Artificial Intelligence
I forgot something...
There is something about these creatures that makes you feel less lucky.
Any time you roll a d20 roll 2 instead and take the worse result. This is a mind-affecting effect. It does not work on Tigger. Give me another roll on the fort save plz.
I don't know if this applies to init, but you're already at the end of the turn order so it is moot.
Artificial Intelligence
The door makes a loud POP as it opens where it had stuck to the frame over the years. The room is dark (not that it matters to you). Three ugly little creatures seem to have been alerted to your presence.
One fires an arrow at Tigger.
atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
assuming this doesn't hit
Another fires an arrow at Tural.
atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
As you pull the arrow free you notice that it has been coated in a gritty black substance.
1 dmg, fort save DC18
roll init
Red init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Blue init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Green init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Artificial Intelligence
The door is unlocked, but still closed.
Artificial Intelligence
It is a locked wooden door.
Artificial Intelligence
Only the second claw attack hits, but it is enough to kill the spider.
When looking around you find some loot:
101 gp, 933 sp, 2550 cp, Bloodstone (45 gp)
Gems valued 138 gp
Potion of Shield of Faith (cr, 50 gp)
Scroll of Shield of Faith (cr, 25 gp)
Artificial Intelligence
I'd say 15' ceiling. He would be just out of reach.
The spider looks to be in rough shape. With its last remaining strength it skitters across the ceiling, drops onto Tural, and bites.
atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1 dmg, DC 10 fort save for poison
Artificial Intelligence
oops. At first I just assumed it hit
Thandrus attack misses. The spider bites him and moves up onto the ceiling again.
atk: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
1 dmg (so none with DR), DC 10 fort save
Artificial Intelligence
The swarm is wiped out. grumble grumble
Just as you finish your attack a somewhat larger spider drops on your from the ceiling and bites!
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
1 dmg, DC10 fort save for poison.
Artificial Intelligence
The floor seems to move - before you realize that it's not the floor it's a countless number of spiders. The spiders coalesce into a swarm and begin moving toward you.
init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Artificial Intelligence
The door eventually collapses. Behind it the air is very moist and the floor is covered with low vegetation. In the south wall there is a crack where water is dribbling out, sustaining the plant life.
Artificial Intelligence
The lock refuses to open. As you complete the attempt you hear a small crunch noise from within the lock. It sounds like a small component has broken.
Due to this damage the DC has gone up slightly, but you can make 1 more attempt before the lock is shot. You cannot take 20.
Artificial Intelligence
You discover a locked secret stone door. The air is more humid here, and it looks like the lock has suffered for it. It probably can't handle much abuse before seizing up.
is your pet really going to stay behind?
Artificial Intelligence
Looks like a dead end. There are some weeds growing across part of the floor at the end of the hall.
Artificial Intelligence
moar hall. All of the rest is uncovered.
Artificial Intelligence
I should make you fort save for all the fumes in the air.
It opens onto -you guessed it- another hallway!!!1!
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence
You find:
28 pp, 242 gp, 79 sp, 30 cp
Oil of Light (cr, 25 gp)
Oil of Sanctify Corpse (um, 50 gp)
Potion of Hide from Animals (cr, 50 gp)
Scroll of Burning Hands (cr, 25 gp)
Scroll of Expeditious Retreat (cr, 25 gp)
Total value 705 gp 2 sp
Artificial Intelligence
Tural is hit with Burning Hands.
dmg: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Ref DC11 for half
Artificial Intelligence
lucky roll...
The chest appears to be unlocked and magically trapped.
do you have the trapfinding feat?
Artificial Intelligence
You see a sizeable chest at the end of the hall.
Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence
Slowly the iron bars fall apart. The majority of it collapses to the ground. The top part dangles from the winch chain and drips acid.
Artificial Intelligence
It is a heavy iron portcullis. It doesn't seem to be locked, but the system to raise it is hidden from view and no controls seem to be available.
Artificial Intelligence
The man scrambles for his crossbow, but can't get it drawn in time. He curses your name as he passes out. After a while the two men will disappear.
Since they were adventurers their loot disappears with them.
Artificial Intelligence
"You little brat! If you kill me you get nothing. If you help me you get half the treasure. I'm holding more cards than you think!"
Artificial Intelligence
The man looks distressed.
"What? But I need so little! Just enough to get me back on my feet!"
He sighs and shakes his head.
"Look, I know the secret to opening that portcullis. There is supposed to be a good amount of treasure back there. If you heal me a bit and give me half I'll open it for you."
Artificial Intelligence
From Tural's sense motive he should believe that: the man believes that he will likely die before the portal returns him, and that ending up dead on the other side is not a trivial matter to him. I intended that mechanically this is plausible. Your RP sounds a lot like "he HAS to be lying because that's not how this works" and I'm telling you not to do that. Tural sees no such obvious conflict.
Artificial Intelligence
The man is laying propped up against the wall by the way. He looks injured enough that he might not be able to stand. Assume that when multiple adventurers enter together none of them leaves until all of them are either dead or sleeping. I intended what he said to at least be plausible, not an obvious lie.
Artificial Intelligence
The injured man seems to be sincere. You notice he has a loaded light crossbow next to him on the floor. There is a spear sticking out of the dead man and his empty purse lies beside him. Tigger stands next to a heavy iron portcullis.
"We fought a number of battles, and my comrade didn't make it. We did come through the portal, but I fear that if I let myself rest it will be the... eternal sort. Also..."
He rethinks what he was about to say and changes tack.
"You wouldn't happen to be a healer would you? Or maybe you have a potion I could use?"
Artificial Intelligence
An injured adventurer lays next to a dead one in the corner. The living one notices you enter.
"Oh thank god. I had given up hope that someone else might come down here in time. Could you give some aid to an injured fellow adventurer?"
Artificial Intelligence
In front of you is a simple curtain. There looks to be some blood on it. You hear a faint rustling noise inside.
Artificial Intelligence
The acid attack misses again, but the bite attack is enough to take down the creature. As its remains melt through the floor it leaves behind some slimy loot.
126 gp, 510 sp, 4500 cp, Potion of Invigorate (apg, 50 gp)
Artificial Intelligence
edit: it doesn't continue to move after its attack.
Artificial Intelligence
ref save: 1d20 ⇒ 10
The creature is in slightly worse shape. It dropkicks Tural.
atk: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
After failing it completes its move to walk back into the air.
