Alternate racial traits Incorruptible Occasionally, aasimars arise with the ability to further ward away evil. Aasimars with this racial trait can cast corruption resistance against evil once per day as a spell-like ability. If an aasimar uses this ability on herself, the duration increases to 1 hour per level. This racial trait replaces the spell-like ability racial trait. Deathless Spirit Particularly strong-willed aasimars possess celestial spirits capable of resisting the powers of death. They gain resistance 5 against negative energy damage. They do not lose hit points when they gain a negative level, and they gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against death effects, energy drain, negative energy, and spells or spell-like abilities of the necromancy school. This racial trait replaces celestial resistance. Truespeaker There are some aasimars whose language transcends all boundaries. They gain a +2 bonus on Linguistics and Sense Motive checks, and they learn two languages each time they gain a rank in Linguistics. This racial trait replaces skilled. Professor Lorrimors research notes:
Curriculum Vitae of Research associate Ragnar Skuggason 34 years ago: Born in a refugee community close to Kenabres in Mendev
Ongoing research to improve corruption resistance, and perhaps undo the apotheosis that was incurred. Even though it offers considerable resources. Signed, Professor Lorrimor
resarch note 2:
Subject is... unusually sane and controlled. Hypothesis that being able to fully, justifiably and truthfully blame his condition on demonic adversaries is highly sanity sustaining. Subject expressed deep satisfaction at using demonic powers for good. Seeing it as a way to spite his creators specifically. Largest distress suffered was when his old company, the Wrath of Gorrum, refused to reestablish any contact with him, citing that they buried him in absentia. Subject sees this alas as a challenge to be overcome, seeking to attain sufficient reknown and fame that he will be reavowed. Signed, Professor Lorrimor research note 3:
I have been able to make an Eldritch enquiry! But it left more questions then answers. The name of the Demon responsible for his transformation is... Tharvool, a Balor Lord of war, destruction and flame, but one who has been slain millenia ago by Nocticula, Lady in Shadow. Interestingly enough in relatively, for Abyssal standards, fair single combat. Some hidden resurrection project? Or did I just phrase my knowledge poorly? It is clear that these Nahyndrian crystals are some type of refined demon matters, perhaps concentrated? Said Balor lord was... somehwat ideologically compatible with a Gorrumite, could this be the reason why the exposure was not fatal as is normally the case? Further research is required. Signed, Professor Lorrimor Ragnars research note:
Wait, Tharvool? That is a Demonlord Nocticula killed, which means its part of his body, which means the f#~~ing bug buggerers are plausibly stealing from Nocticula's, also known as the Demonlord of killstealing, kills. That is something she may well retaliate for. S*!#, if we can make this known to hers somehow, like, I am not partial to the three tailed bat b#!++, but she literally killed more demonlords for less! Isnt their a runelord of wrath who is now also a Balor running that specific midnight isle? And why do I innately know these things? a manner of taste:
Alert! Vampires and ghouls! I woke up with a start, only to find one such ghoul right next to me, in my tent. Good thing my claws are sharper then his, and another good thing that a half fiend like myself is pretty hard to paralyze by poison. I tear into the ghoul from my prone position. Observe I think to myself as I take stock. A gaggle of Lastwallians have assembled around a Paladin named Calin, who manages to have a pretty good commanding presence inspite of, just like me, being in his undergarments. The problem is 2 Vampire spawns, flying in the pitch black moonless sky above them, seeking to dominate the targets of the resistance. Orient The ghouls, while nasty, are going down fairly quickly, that Lastwall troops established a buddy system of sorts, if one warrior gets paralyzed, others protect him with reach weapons from coup de grace attemtps, and eventually lastwallian training will prevail on the ground. But the Vampire spawn... Decide Need to go, now, I break into a sprinting charge as I spread my wings Act Whatever the vampire spawn closest to me expected, bloodraging half fiend was not on it. My claws connect, and my bite tears into its throat, tearing its head straight off. Note to self, Vampires spawn taste like s$+!, maybe that why they want to drink blood. I grab its body and fling it at the other flier, my throw goes wide, but it covers my charge. This one is more competent, and less surprised but... Observe I am much heavier then she, this spawn is female, is
quarantine:
Very well mr. Skuggason, your quarantine period is over The Paladin walked in, thankfully of lastwall, not Mendev. As I said before, it is likely that my... condition offers sufficient protection to contracting vampireism. I answer between doing pushup We dont exactly have data on Vampirization of... half fiends. Although you did save my life when you bit that Vampire spawns head off.
And well, you literally have teeth, claws and bat wings, although your body temperature is rather elevated indeed. There is an old friend who requested my bodyguard services, I need to be elsewhere. I answer, politely and professionally. A written documentation of my activities here would be of use however, as to provide a reference for others who... doubt my non undead non demonic allegiance. I continue, after all, I did save a number of their people It can be provided yes. The Paladin answers. tenets:
--While not religious in terms of class, he will have the following tenets: ----My pack is me, their glory is mine, and my glory is theirs Means he will be quite altruistic towards those he considers his pack, and is a teamplayer ----My word, given freely and formally, is steel. That does not apply to words made under duress, but he is punctual about contracts, vows and pledges. He is also not obligated to go through with things if he says "F@*~ you" to a Ghoul during battle, as its not a formal pledge. ----Death comes to all, and when it comes, I will face it, fangs bared and steel in hand. But only a fool seeks his own end. Pretty obvious. Tactics exist, he isnt Count Richelieu, but he engages in sensible tactics, and even has some unusual takes on operational doctrine and the military art. ----A fight in which the outcome is clear is but a massacre, and such things disinterest our Lord in Iron, I shall avoid such fights, even taking flight if I am much weaker, or offering good terms if much stronger. He can run from obviously superior foes, and will offer reasonable terms to much weaker ones. ----Violence is the purest expression of our Lord in Iron, to engage in it randomly for no reason is to demean our Lord. This is somewhat non canonical, but it makes for much better roleplaying in general. ----I will not kill those who genuinely surrender, and if I offer terms to a foe, I will obey these terms. The same is true if an honorable foe takes me captive, and offers me parole. Not sure how many "honorable foes" this AP has, but if you drop your weapon and put your hands up, you are pretty save from him. Note, Surrender=!being knocked out in battle while resisting until incapaciated. He will likely treat such brave foes reasonably, but is not religiously obligated to do so. |
