I'm going to make the choice to end the game, I apologize. I wish I could have given a more consistent experience but due to class load and such being a lot heavier this year, it was hard for me to run a campaign online.

Once again I am sorry.

Hakklin:
You don't really see anything out of the ordinary. A few kids play nearby, splashing in a small puddle with their likely good clothes on as their parents scold them.

Marianne:
Without much else, you see the crowds around you fade away for a few moments, gaining your composure before seeing the world around you clearly. In the distance, a light howl, something inhuman, locked away almost in one the closed off and abandoned alleys way out of view of the public. A banging door, a woman up ahead beyond the crowd, banging on a door. She seems upset, shouting at whomever is inside.

Last month of classes for me. Capstone work is upon the and I am in full paper writing mode.

The street was crowded. Plenty of shop owners out with tables to sell their wares, making it look like any day out in the Coins. Even those not in business were selling something, food the largest among them. The smell of Goblin style fried oysters, Belkzen Grilled Beef, and the aroma of sweet Chelish Apple Dumplings wafted through the air among many other things.

However, even if it was crowded, the authority of the badge for most people on sight or the notice of uniform led many to clear the way. At least some of them did, other preoccupied or uncaring. It just enough to walk through the crowd without too much issue.

Once the patrol was assembled, you were all given a nod of a approval before heading out into the streets, although the sergeant seemed to look at the goblin bemusement as you all left. As much as a sort of tense feeling was in the air for some with the whispering tyrants war on the city had left its marks here and there, the city was alive with visitors eager to see the sights of Absalom, sampling its cuisine or enjoying the festivities of the worlds fair. Both those foriegn and from the city would be there, and at the heart of it all would be your patrol, tasked with both representing the guard and the newly formed Edgewatch, but also the city itself to the people.

The patrols journey would be rather simple, a tour around the districts more residential area, away from the fair. Even if it wasn't in the main area of festivities, it was still busy, packed with shops and stalls, locals and rented spaces that made a sort of clutter that made things feel alive. Absalom truly was metropolitan of the inner sea, exciting the senses with delicious smells, spectacular artistry, and people from around the world.

As you walked, you would however notice small alleyways and sections that were boarded up. Remnants of when this district was nothing more than hanging off the side of a cliff after the earthquake that struck the city long ago. A guard would be stationed at key spots, some not part of Edgewatch but the cities regular army. Always on the lookout to deal with what lay beyond in sections yet to be repaired.

The Dwarf nods, "You're got your assignments just an easy patrol, shouldn't be too much, walk this perimeter in a timely manner and then we can go on to your next route for the day, if you have any questions on directions if you are unfamiliar with the district as some are, we have directions," he says holding out several papers to pass back for all of the patrol unit. It seemed relatively simple and straightforward for the route looking over it.

"You are dismissed to go about the patrol. Do well officers."

Once again, sorry for the late reply.

After a pleasant night off, it would come apparent that you'd likely need the rest period as the next day was the official opening of the festival proper. A large-scale event with dignitaries from most of the nations of the inner sea, including those far and wide on Golarion. As you arrived at the station for your shift, you'd be, along with several other guard members brought into a larger room at the precinct and brought to find a seat.

Soon when most of the fresh faces and those grizzled veterans were gather and situated, an older Dwarf came into the room, "Alright, alright, settle down. My name is Sgt. Ollo. For most of you, welcome to the Edgewatch. This truly is our first day as a true part of the greater guard of Absalom. Lt. Lavarsus is currently dealing with the bureaucrats, but he wishes you all a splendid day and to keep the King's peace here."

"Now to business, when I call you, please state your name and badge number. We shall go by patrol," he says as opens up a large tome on the desk before him, small and looking as if it was put there momentarily, "We shall begin, starting with group one..."

Ollo continues on and on, giving out assignments until finally reaching patrol number 12, "Hakklin, Piousa, Morilla, Lightfoot, and... he seemed a little confused, "Abbot and Costello."

Post coming in hot

Reporting in, the elderly guardswoman, a Garundi, sat at the front desk nodded, handing out paperwork that would be completed. The placard on her desk read her name as Farai, neatly organized, unlike the desk of the lieutenant. She seemed polite, speaking with a tinge of an accent as she greeted you all back with a smile, "Lavarsus wants to inform you all that you may punch out for the evening after finishing your report. You are to come back in the morning for patrol duty. It will be a busy day," she says before returning to her work.

My next post will proceed towards the next day, sorry for the delay

"The tab for starters, and never to come back again. Think I've learned my lesson on half off drink nights for adventuring folk. My rotten luck," the halfling says, pleased that the members of the Edgewatch had managed to apparently help her get them out of her bar for the time being without any violence. The cleric would look for his coin purse, the likely one responsible for the coin in the group but seemed unable to find it before the roguish gnome came behind him and handed over several of the coins.

The elven woman seemed to smile, "Thank you," she speaks before leaving with the rest of her group outside.

With amazing skill at a verbal dialogue with both the drunken cleric and the rather ferocious Dwarf, that both of them had been disarmed in a way. The Dwarf in particular stood with a defeated and still drunken look and put out his arms down, his so called "weapons." The other two members of the adventuring group seemed to share the same idea and stood up quietly in a peaceful manner.

"I'm sorry well ummm... maybe I had a bit too much to drink," the cleric says, with the four gathering together, "We'll leave, what a rotten day it has been."

It passes Hakkli, you're good

If you'd like, you can roll diplomacy or intimidation on any one of the four drunken adventurers there.

"Yes, those four have been causing trouble ever since they got here. The one sobbing is destroying the mood of the place," the halfling speaks in response to Hakklin and as she tidies up a broken glass behind the counter, pointing to the gnome next, "That one over there kept trying to pickpocket folk while they ate, badly I might say and unsuccessfully. The other two have been causing a ruckus, and worst of all this Mr. Holy man won't stop hittin' on me."

The man in question, bearing the obvious holy symbol of Cayden Calien began to laugh, "O' come on, you have such a fine beer."[b]

[b]"I got a weapon," the Dwarf responds to the goblin, wobbling off his seat and raising his fist in the air. Another fist would be raised, looking like a sort of prized fighter, his eyes wide and teeth gritted in an awkward smile, "My nose is the strongest nose, best in all of... of the Inner Sea."

Meanwhile with the elf, she'd look up to the officer with teary eyes, "O' officer, it was terrible. Mr Shell, my familiar... he's... he's... dead!" she sobs gulping down another drink.

Medicine Check on the Dwarf DC 15:
He is rather likely on some form of narcotic

Post coming Sunday. A lot of stuff with my Capstone going on.

Free roll. I'll ask for a specific roll on certain things when it comes to it or if you ask for it.

"Umm... alright?" the three of them looking at the Goblin unsure but feeling they should stay out of further business and let the officer go about solving things.

Immediately upon Lucien's proclamation, three out of the five people currently in the tavern began to laugh hysterically at the paladin, especially the Dwarf further back near the bar. He laughed in a long sort of belly laugh that hung in the air on tainted breath of too many tankards of mead and whatever else he had that evening. In fact, he nearly fell of his own seat, causing a laugh from the Gnome opposite near the fireplace and the man near the bar. The two that didn't laugh was the elf women in the center whom sobbed into another pint and the Taven lady, a halfling that seemed rather unhappy.

"Look, it's the blues and whites come, here to join the fun," spoke the Gnome, laying sideways across a chair and pouring a round down her throat.

The Dwarf continued to laugh, "Ha, saw the dandy man had a bit of a... of a... nose job," he finally figures before starting to laugh heartily again.

Legal Lore for Abbot and Costello:
Using your knowledge of the legal system of Absalom, you know that rather likely that depending on the severity of the ruckus inside, the owners of the establishment could potentially press charges for damages if need be. Noise complaints and minor rowdiness as long as they are non-violent can get one anything from a night in a cell to being let go to go home.

Guards of the city are allowed to use force if necessary, preferably non-lethal if possible if those present attempt to resist in a disruptive and violent manner.

Injury such as what Pratchett suffered could very well have him press a charge against the perpetrator.

For their part, the three just stand looking at the goblin and his... tree for a few moments before Pratchett speaks in a nasally voice, "All I told that Dwarf was that they should calm down for the sake of the owner. She is really the charming woman and her business has been fanatastic for evening meals as of recent."

He looks to Piousa, "Don't worry for me, if you can help inside would be nice before they drive away every customer."

Hakklin:
He is speaking the truth from what you can tell

Please place your character pics in the box. Then, place them on the slide for player characters. You all should be able to edit now.

"Break a leg. I knew some of you at least have some experience, you'll need it, all of that you got. I think things are gonna be rough for a time," she says, waving you all off as you leave, "Be careful. The lot likely just a few drunks, don't mean much harm."

After a decent jaunt across the outskirts of the fair outskirt towards your destination, the five of you finally reach the Tipsy Tengu, an establishment that appears to be just as new as your own station itself. Outside at the open door were three well-dressed individuals, a half elven man of a sort of dandy appearance, flanked by a half orc young woman. Opposite was a human male of apparent Taldoran descent.

The half elf was holding his nose with a bloodied handkerchief as you come to meet them, "So glad the watch finally came," spoke the Taldoran man, "Kapkin, Steven Kapkin. I was just having dinner with my colleague Mr. Pratchett when these barbarous fouls decided to get too deep in the liquor. Poor Pratchett was struck by that damned dwarf."

"A mug, a whole damn mug..." he says, his servant cringing somewhat at his pain.

Posting Saturday, tonight is my irl game.

Lavarsus only looked at the Goblin and his Eidilon, staring down at him with a plain face.

From what you all can collectively gather from other guards and one or two of the visitors of the precinct, the Tispy Tengu is one of the over 80 establishments that had been built over a relatively short period of time in the quarter, residing upon the outskirts of the fair area proper and the some of the reclaimed residential areas just northeast of the precinct of the In fact, this particular one was meant for foreigners, dignitaries and ambassadors in the day served fine meals while in the evening crowded with adventurers, the typical type in evening that filled the taverns and dive bars.

"You lot, heading to the Tengu, that's on Cayden Avenue, nice place but a bit rowdy in the evening for my taste," says a particularly thin half elf woman in a trench coat and tricorn hat. The Edgewatch badge placed right at her chest, "Detective Bolera, you must be the new folk. Don't mind Lavarsus, he can be a bit of a hardass but he is reliable. Good luck out there."

Hakklin in particular gets such information well enough, near scaring a Halfling mother and her young son.

Tipsy Tengu and the Precinct has been marked on the map.

If you like, go ahead and roll for extra information.

[Ooc]I'll try next time to be a wee bit shorter for you. Experimenting atm[ooc]

I've added new downtime actions. On top of Hero Points, you shall also receive Bond Points, rewarded by working together on a task.

A short while later you'd all make your way to your new boss, the precincts acting captain Lt. Lavarsus. He is an only Human man with curly graying blonde hair. His belly is broad, overweight in his later years and he kept in his mouth unlit cigar, sucked upon as he sat behind an oak desk.

The lieutenant rises from behind his desk, glaring out from beneath brooding brows as he silently studies his new agents. After a long moment, he shakes his head, muttering “unbelievable.” as he pulls his well-chewed cigar from his mouth and gestures disdainfully. “This year’s Radiant Festival is the most ambitious peacetime undertaking the city’s seen. The Edgewatch is responsible for the safety of thousands. I told the council I needed the best of the best. And instead they send me you—a bunch of rookies so green you’ve practically got gills. Did you pin those badges on yourself, or did Sergeant Ollo have to do it for you?” He sighs and sits.

“Abadar only knows what sin I committed to deserve you. But we work with what we’re given. You do what you’re told, learn from the veterans, and maybe you’ll come out of this proper guards. But if I catch you shirking work or tarnishing the reputation of this precinct, I’ll bounce you out of here so hard you’ll land in Absalom Harbor. Clear?” He doesn’t wait for an answer, instead snatching up a scrap of paper from his desk and holding it out. “Here’s your first assignment. A bunch of dung-heeled wannabe adventurers are smashing up the Tipsy Tengu. Clean it up—book ’em or fine ’em, just don’t kill anyone.” He shuffles through some more papers on his desk before looking up pointedly.

“Well? You want me to hold your hand on the way there? Get going. Dismissed.”

As show post up. Will have the next post up tonight. Waiting on Lightfoot.

6:35PM
Absalom, Precipice Quarter
Edgewatch Station Barracks

The smell of fresh paint still hung in the air as you all came into newly built barracks and station of the Edgewatch. The long defunct now newly reformed section of the guard had come shortly after the reclaiming effort to fix and stabilize the long-abandoned district. The station had opened only two weeks ago and throughout the city, guard had been circulated into it as means to supply able folk. The best of the best supposedly, all in preparation for the one of the largest events in the city, the Radiant Festival.

The festival was a world's fair. The largest holiday that the city celebrated and would take several weeks of time before festivities ended truly. People from all around Golarion were in attendance, with nations competing in unofficial ways to ply their magics and creations. In fact, exhibitions had already begun before the first day came tomorrow morning and the festivities would begin officially.

Getting on your white and blue uniforms, the five of you all don your equipment in the locker room where our story begins.

Added slides, should be up. Getting ready some bits of prep and will be posting soon.

Making my choice soon

Recruitment closed, will be making my choice soon

It honestly makes getting gold more valuable when you get it. As well, makes usage of smaller currency potentially more common.

To be polite, I won't hit you too hard about the whole tenants and keeping alignment as a Paladin. I understand it can be hard to keep it, specially when dealing with criminals and solving cases. All I ask is that you do your best, I'm Iomedae can understand. ;D

Subparhiggins wrote:
I'm interested, if there's still room? If so, I'm reading the player's guide right now to pitch a character.

Still recruiting.

I expect that you'd all try to not be breaking the law as members of its enforcement, or else someone might be after your badge XD.

This AP rewards creative solutions and nonviolent means of ending conflicts.

To let folk know, current players are looking at a...

Cleric of Naderi
A Ruffian Rogue Political Scion
And Potentially a Paladin of Iomedae that was a Squire

It can somewhat be depending on how the party wants to handle some things. However, he might be in a little over his head in some circumstances.

Squire would be okay as a substitute background.

There is an amazing number of Goblins and Kobolds in recruitment.

Yes, to let you know we will have that in effect

End of next week would be good. First week of the term just ended and week two looks easy. I watching what we get here and I'll keep recruitment in the know.

I'll also let you guys now I'll have specific stuff up for you all. One of them is just rules how I DM the game such as no player v player rolling unless in very specific cases. As well, unless you specify you are doing harm, I will treat damage as nonletehal with penalty to hit or damage. It works a lot easier this way.

Well, this alias is an odd character, but it's a bit unusual. He's starting as a ghost, which can only happen with GM permission.

I sadly will not allow the Ghost variation. As well, just as reminder, we are starting at Lvl 1. You get the free archetypes on lvl 2.

@RadicalGM This portion of the Player's Guide has me reconsidering any Ancestry other than Core.

** spoiler omitted **

I am conjuring a Kobold Summoner (snare crafter).

I have had this idea for a bit, and making a Trapper for this seems perfect.

Please let me know if any of the Base would be fine for this AP?

Thank you.

Core and Uncommon are allowed. I am only excluding Rare Ancestries.

I do prefer backgrounds from the AP, as I can give you stuff thematic with it in the future, but you can pick backgrounds that are thematic as well if you'd like.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Right now I only have a player set upon a Cleric atm. I will let you all know when other players come to class and build they want.

It is by far not too late at all :D

I give my thumbs up to it.

O no, we are starting at lvl 1. You get the free archetype at Lvl 2 in addition to what you can get. Sorry If I wasn't clear.

Pitch it here if you like or you can PM it. Your call.

Character build I've attached on the recruitment thread.
