Hello. Unfortunately, since the start of the year, I've had less and less free time to be able to keep up with my games on the boards. Regretfully, I'm going to have to leave this game. Thank you for the opportunity to play in the game, GM. I wish you all good luck and happy gaming in the future.
Round 10
Rachel hexes another foe with evil eye and vanishes again.
Round 11
She moves in to attack the most wounded enemy.
Curve Blade, Inspire Courage, Invisible: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 30
Damage, Sneak Attack: 1d10 + 8 + 3d6 ⇒ (9) + 8 + (5, 1, 5) = 28
Reflex: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 301d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Will: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Rachel nimbly evades the explosions, emerging unscathed. She steps up to the nearest foe and attacks!
Curve Blade, Inspire Courage, Invisible: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 + 2 = 28
Damage, Sneak Attack: 1d10 + 8 + 3d6 ⇒ (6) + 8 + (5, 2, 1) = 22
Rachel gives one of the dwarves the evil eye and fades from sight.
Evil eye, -2 to attacks for 8 rounds or 1 round with a DC 17 Will save.
Rachel moves in and attacks Joe's foe, becoming visible as her blade slices into the creature.
Curve Blade, Invisible Attacker: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 2 = 32
Crit?: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27
Damage, Sneak Attack: 1d10 + 9 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + 9 + (6, 3, 1) = 23
Crit Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Rachel continues to follow along invisibly, waiting to engage the next enemy.
I am back now, and ready to continue on! Are we waiting on somebody specific to act in this combat? I'm not sure if my turn is up or not.
I'll pick a headband of intellect +2.
I will be out of town from 12/18 through 12/26, with limited or no internet access for much of that time. Normal posting will resume when I return on Monday, 12/27. Please bot me as necessary.
Rachel remains invisible as she moves up alongside Niversal.
I will be taking the next several days off from work, where I do most of my posting. My posts will be less frequent until next Wednesday, 12/8. Please bot me if necessary.
Rachel hexes the creature nearest Joe that he didn't target, cursing it with misfortune. As she does so, the air shimmers around her and she vanishes from sight.
Misfortune, Will DC 17.
Rachel helps assist in the search, looking for a way inside!
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Woo! Add +2 if there any traps to find.
Rachel stands at the ready behind Joe, sword raised in anticipation of making contact with the enemy.
Rachel dismounts her pegasus as the group lands. The witch murmurs a spell, granting her increased agility. She draws her elven curve blade from its scabbard and stands beside Joe, nodding her readiness. Her enchanted veil obscures her expression.
Rachel mounts up on a pegasus, ready to ride out to battle!
"Yep, let's do it!" Rachel says, smiling behind her veil.
"Is it possible to win without Lord Wolfe's forces?" Rachel asks. "I agree that the thought of allying with a lord of undeath is...unsavory. But perhaps the ends will justify the means if it leads to victory and saves the soldiers of Avalon from having to risk their own lives." The elven woman shrugs.
Rachel nods and follows King Joseph into the side room, eager to hear what Niversal has to say.
Sorry to hear about your dog, Niversal. My condolences. :(
I'm here, ready to proceed when the time comes.
I'm ready to move on.
Creative juices aren't really flowing right now, alas! But I'm thinking all of the time in the desert heat might have inured me to fire. Perhaps there was a planar rift to the Elemental Planes that I harnessed to build up some fire resistance. :D
I've probably been to a few cool places, but I don't know much about the world, so I'm not sure where! I haven't died here yet. I've likely fought those kind of foes in the desert, along with maybe a scorpionfolk or two! And I negotiated with a genie to secure the magic veil to get my witch powers! :)
Rachel nods in turn to each of the Night Hawks. ”I am a witch and a rogue. I used my divine wish for a defensive item, as well as a change of circumstances for my new life here on Arcanium. In battle, I use my magic to bolster my own abilities and my hexes to debilitate my opponents. Then I vanish from sight, only to reappear and cut down my foes with deadly precision. I can fly on my own for a few minutes each day.”
"Thank you, my lady. I understand your initial hesitance, and I shall endeavor to prove my worth," Rachel says. She holds out her hand for Jellena to place the ring on her finger.
Rachel curtseys to Lady Jellena. "Pleased to meet you, my lady. I hope you will find me a valuable asset to your company."
"Five days, huh? Alright, we'd best be prepared," Rachel says. "When the time comes, I'll be ready to fight by your side."
”I’m glad you had a partner with you when you came to this world,” Rachel says to Niversal. She lowers her eyes. ”I still miss my family. I was only thirty-six when I crossed over. I hope that they are okay without me.”
The elven woman takes a deep breath before looking up again. ”But let us leave the past in the past. Is there a task now we should be working toward?”
"Oh, he talks!" Rachel exclaims. She happily pats Ed on his furry head. "Are you a good boy? I know you must be!"
”Oh, yeah. I’ve heard that one a million times,” Rachel says, trying hard not to laugh.
”Yes. I am from Florida, in the US,” Rachel says. ”Back then, I was... I was very different than I am now. But that was another life.”
She looks up at Joseph and Niversal. ”What about you two?”
Rachel smiles as well. ”Thanks! I’m excited to meet all of your companions. Since my arrival here in Arcanium, most of my adventuring has been solo. It will be nice to be part of a larger party now.”
She turns to Niversal and bows. ”Nice to meet you. And you, too, Ed!” The elf leans down to offer her hand for the dog to sniff.
Rachel graciously sits beside the king. "I began as a rogue, but then I undertook a quest to find magical power. I recovered this enchanted veil, which taught me the secrets of witchcraft. Now, I am an ashiftah--a battle witch. I hex my foes, disappear, and then attack while their guard is down."
Hello! I'm the new player here! I'm excited to join the game! :)
There's quite a bit of posts to catch up on (4,400+), so I've only read a few of the most recent pages. I think I've got the gist of what's going on, but if there's any pertinent info I should know, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! :D

While King Joseph is still at the castle, his seneschal informs him that a visitor from Numeria has come to pay her respects. The guards admit a lone woman to the audience chamber. She wears a loose purple top and pants, as well as a hooded veil that obscures most of her features save for her hazel eyes. The woman bows to the monarch of Camelot.
"Your Highness, I am Rachel of the Veil. I come to you with tidings from the nearby kingdom of Numeria. The Overlord sends his regards, as well as his well-wishes for your recent coronation. May your reign be long."
She bows, but then she straightens up and reaches to remove her veil. Revealed is a dusky-skinned elven woman with long, dark hair and some henna markings on her face. "That is the official reason I am here, but the truth is, I have come to beseech your help. I was a trusted advisor of Numeria's previous ruler, and I have tried my best to guide that kingdom on a better path. But the Overlord challenged the king and killed him in single combat, taking his throne. He is a violent and cruel man, and I fear for not only my position, but also my life. So I have come to offer my services to you, in the hopes that one day, we might depose the Overlord and save Numeria from his tyranny.
"I have heard that you are Chosen of the Goddess of Life and Death. As am I. Perhaps it was always fate for us to join forces. At any rate, I hope you honor my request." Rachel bows to Joseph.
Alias should be all set up now. Ready to begin!
