Once upon a time, I am at a gamers conclave where many different gamers had gathered from hither and yon.

I chose to play in a game or, rather, it chose that I should play this game with a friendly , "Want to play" from a nice man who had a screen and some dice.

In said game, I named my character "Bob" and decided that he was a friendly and personable town guardsman who lived in town, had a wife and two kids, and was from loving parents who were living across town.

Boring, right? NOPE! Because Bob was a BADAxx warrior! Bob cornered the market of grain and extra foodstuffs during the "Siege of Greenscales Winter"! And Bob was a legend after he slew the undead giant of boggy bottoms!

Now granted, there was a minstrel involved in some of this...and things kinda got out of hand after we came back from dinner and drinks...
But my point is, you can be a totally awesome character while still coloring well within the basic lines.

TLDR version: Blah-blah-blah long gaming story... then "you can be awesome by just...being awesome."

If you really want a "fair" economy, limit the time a player can be on per week to a certain number of hours. That's "fair", right?

If you limit everyone's game time to, say, 28 hours per week then we will all be fair and equal, right? So that guy flunking college to farm 100 hours a week of in game currency for his "epeen of powerful power" may actually get a life.

If you want to be "fair" and "equal", then TIME, as well as money, must be considered.

In fact, we should probably create systems in which the people who have obtained "too much" in the game should be forced to give up their "too much" to those less fortunate individuals who do not have "too much".
We could all report to a in-game "too-much" center for account review and wealth redistribution.

Now, from personal experience, I have mixed feelings about in-game stores. They are sometimes fun but the costs really add up.
A game company is a business. A business need to make some money, to pay employees, pay bills, and buy those cool little snack cakes for the break room.

No revenue = no business = no game = everyone is treated perfectly fair.

In my experience, people who gripe about people with time or money is people who are rich in one and poor in another. Terms like "fair", "game-balance", etc. are too often used as trappings for an agenda.

Poor game designers - eat more of those snack cakes, as the sugar high will give you temporary comfort, at least.

An online MMO will probably have a different setup than the tabletop game.
Some of the stuff that you expect may not be there because this is an online game, not tabletop.

Hopefully, all of their various systems will be interesting, involved, and fun. < Note to devs: Please no flower picking quests, and no dailys! >

Not sure if languages can add to fun. It's a shame, but getting locked out of content is not fun.

Some skill challenges should work fine ( sense motive versus bluff, using bluff to put a "debuff" on a target, perception vs stealth vs perception , etc. ). However, some of the skill interactions may be too complex, game breaking, or otherwise not appropriate for a MMO setting.

IMO ---
We are super lucky that they chose one of the most interesting possible areas to set this game. I fell in love with the River Kingdoms at the tabletop, and now I get to see it in MMO form. The Kingmaker campaign may be the best RPG campaign I have seen in over 30 years of gaming. I don't say that lightly - it is worth a read, at least.

Well, I pledged to be an alpha tester, so I'm not really worried about my place in line, but I do not want to reduce my pledge or anything...

Just trying to figure out how the assignments and codes will actually work, so we can determine if some extra coolness is an option for him.

So...

Do we get claim codes for our add-ons that can be used for any account?

Here is why I ask :

Friend of mine juuuust missed the Kickstarter and bemoaned not getting into the Beta. I told him tonight I could add the Adventurer Rewards add-on and he could get in the game a little early. After many YAYs! and WOOTs!, we kinda wondered how this system worked, specifically.

So, if I buy an extra "Twice Marked of Pharasma" add-on, can I give him the code to use for his Adventurer Rewards account?

Hopefully, I searched around enough so this has not already been beaten to death. If not, please forgive a curious Panda? =p

Any help with this would be most welcome - we are plottin' and schemin' over here ! =p

Paizo and Goblin Squad are pragmatic people.

My bet is that there is already a deal in place for a last hour "bail-out" if this Kickstarter does not quite get there.

Floating 100k to get an infusion of 900k is a good deal, especially if they have financing in place at today's interest rates.

That said, I have no claim to understanding of the pattern of Kickstarter funding, seasonally or otherwise.

Heck they might hit it, they might not - but these folks are organized and professional - I wouldn't bet against them!

Now that's the "evil" part to your question. As far as "style", see if this whets your palette: link.

I like it! All Hail Tony!

Anyone out there doing "Evil with Style" ?

Big, Bold, Organized.

Not for the random grifers and gankfest junkies, I'm talking about a group of people who wish to support LE and etc alignments.
