"Yes. I believe we had a vision - or entered Eylysia's memory. When she and her companions confronted certain Decimvirate members of their wrongdoings. Rather than talk, the masked ones attacked Eylysia."

Now, the presence of those two Decimvirate representatives is rather unnerving. Are they willing to let the truth come out this time?

Quintus took a double move already, so that's his turn. So ummm... I don't really know what I was thinking with that Diplo roll :D

Note that knocking Veldrid out might not work, as the encounter description went Whenever a creature is knocked unconscious, their body seems to stream away into the mist, drawn in and slowly disintegrated.

The spiritual mace fades away, so best Quintus can do is try to catch up with the bard - although he suspects the fight is over one way or the other before he gets there.

"Well, we only wanted to talk, and you decided to attack," he calls out to Veldrid. "And in defending ourselves, Zaul and Helven are now dead. You could call this excess of justifiable defence, but I doubt you would succeed in court if you tried."

"However, you don't have to end up like them. All you need to do is stop fighting, restore my friend's eyesight, and then we can have a nice chat."

BTW: if anyone gets confused in the kill-your-friends manner, and initiative order allows it, Quintus can cast calm emotions to suppress it.

"But alas, restoring one's sight requires a priest far greater than I am. Damhán-Alla just has to cope with the situation for now." And Quintus is deeply sorry for the fact he just stated. Not that he cared for the man, but his ability to cut down enemies was astounding.

Remove blindness is a 3rd level spell :(

Just in case the kineticist decides to start lobbing objects around blindly, Quintus takes only a small step forwards. He takes a wand of bless from his belt, and gives it a little wave in the air. A little bit of divine power fills all of his allies.

Meanwhile, the spiritual weapon keeps on attacking Helven.

Whether a crisis of faith or just bad luck, Quintus's spiritual weapon didn't do much against the wolf. But it matters little, teh wolf is now dead. The cleric commands the weapon to start attacking Helven, and starts approaching the enemies.

Not sure whether this is real or just re-living a memory, Quintus nonetheless prepares to fight the masked men and women. He grabs the butterfly symbol, and starts casting a spell.

"Wrongdoers, feel the might of Asm... Desna smite you down!"

A weapon of force appears, taking the shape of a heavy mace. In truth, the cleric was a bit curious how his magic would work here, in this body. But looks like his power still comes Asmodeus. And so the spiritual weapon starts hitting the dire wolf.

"Yes, it's a heavy mace... But see, there's a butterfly symbol there.
Look closer... "

A quick look around him makes Quintus realize that he, too, must be wearing another guise. And looking down, he spots the holy symbol of Desna hanging on a chain around his neck - and bursts out in laughter.

"Oh, this is just hilarious! Of all the possible things, I'm a butterfly priest!"

Quintus stands in front of the clothes rack, trying to recall Eylysia's exact words.

"I think the clue she left was 'Like the Lord of Seasons, our hoods illuminate truth, while their masks shelter deceit. Let this be the sign of our covenant.'."

"So perhaps we should wear these?"

And so, the cleric takes one of the cloaks and dons it. He pulls the hood on and off again, to see if there is any effect.

while still in the goblin cavern
"I'll join, should the timing serve my cause. I do hope your expedition's results will be more than just rocks and broken pottery." Quintus replies the elf, after a moment of consideration. There could be interesting business opportunity in participating in an expedition without being on official Pathfinder business. Besides, he finds Ilathor's contempt towards fellow Pathfinders quite amusing.

Letting the others study the tablets, Quintus goes through the valuables, and takes the wand of prayer from the stash. "We'll all benefit the best if I keep this," he says, pocketing the item.

"It serves the Prince of Law to keep me alive." Quintus answers Ilathor, his helm hiding his dry smile.

"I thank you for your gracious offer, but I trust His plans for me involves deeds other than shielding impudent elves from harm."

The cleric touches again his unholy symbol, and a ghastly image of heavy mace appears behind the blue goblin and strikes the creature.

As he speaks, Quintus touches the unholy symbol of Asmodeus, and suddenly his words are no longer mere words but the will of the Archdevil.

With nothing coming at them, Quintus decides to follow Kazu - although he isn't quite as silent as the Tengu.

"Maybe the hammer should now strike an enemy, if it only hurt friends so far?" Quintus suggests, although he has very little experience with haunts.

Something about this place makes him nervous, and Quintus prays Asmodeus for protection.

After hearing the dwarves' story, Quintus merely nods.

"I see. Well, we are here to investigate, so we might as well investigate the source of these noises. You can come with us, or stay back, whichever you prefer."

"I am afraid I will have to disappoint you, good dwarves - for I am no slayer of monsters. I fight with my words, not arms. I advance the Society's cause in contract negotiations, diplomacy, and trade deals."

Then as if remembering the heavy plate armor he wears, Quintus continues: "Of course, I have to be able to protect myself - my travels take me to many places, some more dangerous than others."

And the cleric continues by telling tales of his travels in Druma and Rahadoum, but in his droll voice fails to make the stories particularly interesting.

Yeah, I think we can take the cowl from her. I was just hoping Ilathor to make the spellcraft check first (just to be sure), since I failed the roll so bad. But better to keep things moving.

"Lumberjacks.. Yes, terrifying enemies. However, I am confident we will triumph over them, should they dare to attack."

Quintus takes the Cowl, and holds it in his hands - secretly cursing he wasn't able to decipher the magics. And then, with a grandiose move, he dons the Cowl.

"Crocus Knight - Your sacred duty has ended, and you are free to go. The duty is now ours - for I am Quintus, sworn protector of the Thicket of Endless Fall" The cleric declares with an impressive voice.

Quintus did not know much of Zaul Blystone, but if they came all this way because of Eylysia's suspicion of the man, there must be something fishy about this story.

"It is a great honor to don the Cowl, but do tell us what manner of defilers have you fought here?"

The druid from before mentioned some "blight" in the thicket - could it be this eternal fall effect?

I don't know if anything from the equipment actually describes including a hood, but I would assume many cloaks and traveller's clothing would have one

Quintus fails to find any insights from the note - must be some druidic nonsense. So he has to take the elf's word on the meaning of it.

But he does notice the figure inside the mill. The woman seems to be armed, but doesn't look very hostile - just ... strange.

"I wonder if would apply some hood-messages here. Ilathor, did you figure any anything specific from the note?"

Just as Quintus is preparing to close in for an attack, the viper in his shoulder whispers something again.

"And now you tell it..." the cleric mutters, and continues with a louder voice: "They explode when they die! Deal them from afar!"

With this new information, Quintus decides to withdraw from the wicked pumpkins reach.

I'd like to know the special attacks and resistances

Kazu and Damhán-Alla seem to be doing a good job getting rid of the pumpkins, so Quintus is just making his way towards enemies - which isn't very fast in this thicket.

Quintus spots the pumpkins, as their coloring stands out in the murky wood, but doesn't quite know what to think of them. But then a small viper slithers from beneth the cleric's armor to his shoulder and whispers something in his ear.

"My associate tells me these pumpkins are in fact Jack'o'Lanterns. Beware!"
Does a roll of 20 reveal any useful information form them?

Quintus takes his wand of bless and uses it give Asmodeus' blessing for the party.

Good thing about that recent visit to the burning forest is that now Quintus feels much more confident walking in these woods, and is able to offer some good advice navigating.

Once Richard calls out about the figure in the tree, Quintus sees it as well. And while his clerical training is focused on the teachings of Asmodeus, there was enough studies on other divinities for him to recognize this one.

"This is Ng, the mysterious hooded Eldest, who watches over the seasons, secrets, and roads."

"The original perpetrator is long dead, so what is the justice you so eager to seek. I do not claim we should keep this information unrevealed - just that you consider carefully what you will set in motion by doing so."

Quintus doesn't seem to share the outrage of some of the others, but neither is he demanding any secrecy. Best to find out more, before committing into anything.

Then, hearing Ilathor's suggestion, he groans a little.

"The last time I was in a forest, it was on fire. I cannot imagine this trip could be any worse. So we can just as well get this done."

Quintus eyebrow raises as Damhán-Alla opens the compartment, and levitates the items on the table. "Hmm, let me see..." he mutters, and walks over to investigate.

"'Helven took the base of this totem for some purpose I cannot ascertain. Perhaps he has taken it to Absalom?' - I wonder who wrote this? The cleric says, showing the note to the others, and then moves to the sketch. "A man wearing a triple-flanged helm without eyeholes. Does this sound familiar? I'm sure the all-knowing ones of our team must have heard of this?" he asks, aiming the question at Ilathor.

The ring he doesn't touch, but casts Detect magic on the item as it lays on the table.

Once he has done with the findings in the compartment, he joins the others in searching the rest of the room.

"Ugh. Promising start for our visit," Quintus mumbles quietly. He takes a vial of vermin repellent, and starts rubbing the foul-smelling substance on him. He only hopes the flies will find the stuff equally repulsive as he does.

Vermin repellent:
This vile-smelling white paste keeps vermin at bay if spread on your skin. Normal-sized (Fine) vermin avoid you. Swarms of vermin must make a successful DC 15 Fortitude saving throw in order to enter your square. Vermin repellent has no adverse effect on vermin of Small size or larger, though if an attacking vermin has a choice of targets that are respectively covered and not covered in repellent, it usually chooses the creatures without repellent. Once applied, vermin repellent remains effective for 4 hours or until you spend 1 round washing it off

"Oh, I disagree, master elf," Quintus says in a dry voice. "Everyone does not know that. In fact, quite few do. I know this as I talked to quite a many locals here. When placing your words, I trust a man of such mental prowess will give value of the truthfulness and accuracy of the statements over.... vanity."

Charming group, once again. But at least the elf told off the annoying woman, so Quintus didn't have to.

Quintus has always considered himself more of a man of brain than of brawn - but he'll be damned if he would leave potentially valuable items juts lying around. He grabs the stone and starts lifting, motioning for the others to help.

Now, with the centaurs

"Indeed, there is no need for violence here." Quintus flashes his widest barrister-smile for the centaur leader, and addresses his question. "The source of wild fires was a status, connected to the elemental plane of fire. The stone conjured elementals of fire to the forest, causing the flames to spread quickly. We managed to disable the statue, and therefore stopped any more of the fires to appear."

If we managed to loot the statue, we could show it to the centaurs.

About the centaur situation - this is something Quintus is supposed to be very, very good at. But same cannot be said about the player - closest thing to expertise on legal things is having played Phoenix Wright some ten year ago :D

Can we take the statue? We're Pathfinders, after all - looting everything that isn't nailed down :)

On the approach to the village, Quintus sees the centaurs and hears their claims. As such, he doesn't have any particular love for the goblins and feels they could easily be sacrificed to save trouble. But this smells like a trial, and the barrister in him cannot refuse the challenge.

"Ah yes, dear centaur." he says, standing up front. "The forest has suffered greatly. And perhaps there is someone guilty for this who must answer for their crimes. But for the benefit of both yours and the goblins - we must be sure that it is only the guilty who will be punished. So I suggest a fair trial, on these grounds."

"What say you?"
