Hi GM, didn't we play at subtier 2 instead of subtier 1? We have an APL of 1.67 which rounds to 2, so we should have played subtier 2. If we did play tier 1, level 2 characters should get out-of-tier gold, which would be 470 instead of 430. However, we really should have played at subtier 2.

"You want to keep these men alive, Sandi?" Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
"This symbol is of an organization called the Harbingers, who are dedicated to making some dusty book of prophecies come true, which is rather ridiculous since we're already past most of the events in that book. They think they can bring back Aroden or some such foolishness." "They're clearly fanatics, are you sure you want to save them? Oh, alright. Which one do you want to survive?" Quesa will spend a charge of a wand on whichever of them we want to keep alive.

Sorry for the delay. Seems like you guys are mostly active when I'm sleeping and working. Quesa begins by shouting, "For our sister -- Sandi! We shall defend you, and should you fall, we shall avenge you!" Perform (oratory) to activate Inspire Courage, +1 to attack and damage. He also hurries over towards Sandi, pulling a wand from his belt as he goes. That's my first turn -- Inspire courage as a sandard, move action to move to the position shown on the map, drawing the wand from his belt as part of the move action. As quickly as he can, he drops to one knee and taps the ratfolk with the wand. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 He stands back up, drawing the whip coiled at his hip, and gives it a metallic crack. "Stay back from her!" Second turn: Use the wand as a standard, move action to draw the whip.

I've never seen anyone play that someone who acts in a surprise round is flat-footed until the first round of regular initiative. That seems completely counter-intuitive to me.

Knowledge(dungeoneering): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Quesa feels like there's something faintly odd about the stone walls, but can't quite put a finger on it. "Hmm, these documents... maybe I can decipher them..." The ifrit is too busy looking through the pages to notice the attack until it comes.

I'll just take 10 on the knowledge check (+6 on local and religion) to make sure we get it. Hmm. That's weird. GM: The info in the spoiler suggests that there's more than one inscription we're supposed to find in order to decipher this. I'm having a little trouble following the plot -- have we found other clues we can investigate, or is this the only route forward at this point?

"Yoo-hoo! Mr. Fembrick!" Quesa calls at the window, still trying to get the attention of the gnome. He casts dancing lights and makes them whirl in a circle near the window, considering that the gnome might be deaf, and hoping the shifting light would draw his attention.

The only difficulty for me is sometimes I can't post for most of a day, and then in the evening it feels like I've missed out. My apologies. If you're waiting on my character to do something, feel free to roll on my behalf.

Sorry, had a very busy day. Quezaltzin smiles brightly at the guard, "Understood. We hear and obey." He whispers to the others, "Gotta make sure you're speaking the same language -- even if it all sounds like Taldane." knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 "That's an Obol of passage. In some ancient cultures the obol of passage is an allusive term for a coin placed in or on the mouth of a dead person before burial. Literary sources specify the coin as an obol, and explain it as a payment or bribe for passage to the next world. Souls wander across the river that divides the world of the living from the world of the dead." spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 "Not sure exactly what the magic on it does, though."

"Famous? Perhaps not yet, but I try to make sure to get to know folks before they become famous. And that means you get to know me before I'm famous as well!" He smiles in camraderie at Janira. "Quesa the fire dancer." When Janira refers to the Boartusks, he raises a brassy eyebrow. "Now, don't paint all of us field commissions with the same brush, dear, we're not all so... attactively brutish," he says with a laugh and another appreciative glance at the half-orcs. "Some of us are very interested in knowing about these lessons of the past you speak of. I was traveling through the Verduran forest, and helped a group of pathfinders deal with a few, shall we say, 'First World problems.' Ashasar recommended me to the venture captain in Almas for a field commission. In the last few months I've spent here in Absolom learning about everyone worth knowing. But the deeper history of the Society, I know little of. Tell us of this Shadowlodge?"
