Visions of a roiling tide composed of blood, washing the foetid remains of corpses upon the shore. And in the midst of all this... a broken, black orb.

Or something to that effect. First, read ahead as far as possible in the adventure path. That way you can give a mixture of vague, subtle images they're likely to actually encounter as well as images that purely symbolic and seemingly non-sequitor. Make you descriptions as moody, horrifying and disturbed as possible. Foreshadow, but do not provide foreknowledge (ie, it's not cool to show Demogorgon, but it is cool to provide a close up image of a large tendril and a different, unrelated image a savage mandrill eating the body of a second mandrill). Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. :)
Most of all, don't correct your players if they interpret thing wrong--they'll catch on eventually.
Yes, and you can also add in, eyes in the isle--Look at the demon lords entry and see what what ways he shows his omens to his followers, that can add to it as well, Over all hint at what you'd like them to know, but keep it related to the deity giving the vision in question.
Azzy covered most of what I would say.

I just wish I had also copied who the original poster was so I could give credit were it is due.
Wow, in that light, I wonder if Lashonna knew him as an elf, and that the Age of Worms is her twisted Love Story ?
Anthony Law wrote: The PCs in my campaign were sent to find out why a holy site that houses the remains of a heroic paladin of Wee Jas has been corrupted. One of the characters is a member of the church and was tasked with doing so.
Inside, they found a darkskull (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#darkskull). They are now trying to justify selling it to the temple of Wee Jas. My question is, why would the temple buy an item that is a) described as "wholly evil" and b) from a holy site two of the characters were tasked to clear of evil.
If they are not a good party I do not see a problem with the taking of the Darkskull, however...if they are goodly and the looted the tomb, that would be a bit much.
As for searching for a reason to buy the item, many church's will buy evil items, and lock them away to keep them out of the hands of the ignorant, and evil that can use them against the people.

How is a request to save a baby diplodocus from terror birds demanding? Unless your party is entirely made up of apathetic lone wolves or evil characters, they should probably be doing it anyway.
And since when does he not give out the stone salve?
He got on the bad side of many of the characters, by informing them that they were not doing enough for nature, when he himself seemed to be lax in doing so. In fact he told the party healer. (Playing a Healer from the Minatures Handbook) she should be ashamed of herself for not going out there and helping her friends.
She said if your so nature bound, why don't you, isn't nature about the survival of the fittest ? It was an honest question, he got rude, and the party is protective of there healer, we really do not need that kind of treatment, than the stone salve incident, he was very vainglorious.

This suits me fine because Rao would obviously be opposed to the Savage Tide pearl plot that Demogorgon is working, and it gives that character some extra motivation. I'd like to push the point a bit further by giving the character some foreboding dreams which will foreshadow coming events and emphasize to the character that Rao wishes him to continue his line of investigation. Any ideas or suggestions? Well how far into the game are you, first Adventure, not yet started etc..?
I will be very glad when I can get him out of the group, he is a thorn in the side, insistant and a pain in the backside, though I grit my teeth and cope. No one in our group likes him. *lol*
This is a really neat idea, and glad to see other's adding to it as well. I will get some of my things typed up and added here as well. Though it might be neat, to do a website, with an Expanded Cauldron.

I like the idea of the glorious sacrifice and it sounds like it'll work out since your player approached you about it. I would have been leery of it otherwise, since it adds up to you as a DM saying "you have no choice, you can't use the character you've been nurturing for so long. Bzzzzt. You're dead!" Willing player participation makes it a whole different ball of wax though. Glory!
Perhaps you could give the sacrificed character a little story reward for the whole thing? I.e. if they defeat Kyuss, the release of divine energy combined with a self-sacrifice means that the sacrificed character gains Kyuss' divinity though he becomes a minor god of anti-undead: a negative of Kyuss. The surviving players can receive appropriate material rewards (like a kingdom for instance). Or, you can always raise the character as a Saint, from the Book of Exalted Deeds. As they made such a noble sacrifice, and that gives them a sense of helping, and reward.
Just a Thought.
