Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury stands on a balcony of Starrise Spire, overlooking Nerosyan. The sounds of saws and hammers echo from the city below. He turns to the tall woman in full-plate armor standing by his side and says, “Ollysta, I believe our Pathfinder agents have arrived.”

Ollysta Zadrian salutes warmly both Kuraiskimo and Aetherys Dawnblade “It is good to see you again, agents." She smiles at Jorsal adding "These are Kuraiskimo and Aetherys, two of our most powerfull spell casters in the Silver Crusade.”

Jorsal bows slightly and smiles. “A pleasure. As you can see, Nerosyan is still rebuilding. However, thanks to the timely and decisive actions of the Pathfinder Society, Mendev still has a city to rebuild. I want to personally thank those of you who had a direct hand in helping to contain the threat of the Worldwound. We now look for new sites to establish forward bases of operations.
“Yet, even our victories shine a light on our failures. It seems that while we were able to rebuild Nerosyan and drive out the demonic scourge, we could not rebuild the body and mind of one of our own.”

Ollysta takes over, “For nearly two years the Silver Crusade has worked with the Pathfinder Society to attempt to cure Valais, a Pathfinder sent to investigate former Venture-Captain Thurl. He kidnapped her, then shattered her mind and body, replacing most of her physique with babau and kalavakus flesh.” The paladin splays her hand and holds it up, as if to the rising sun. “Even the light of the Dawnflower cannot banish Thurl’s darkness; usual healing magic has had no effect.”

Jorsal steps forward, “Valais has an idea that she believes could help the Society and herself, but I’ll let her explain it to you. Are there any questions you have about her unique situation before we call her in? I can also answer any questions you have about the crusade against the demons of the Worldwound before we continue.”

The group is at the Pathfinder Grand Lodge in Absalom.

Zarta Dralneen and Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shaine sit atop folding camp stools set before a carefully arranged pile of packed tents, furlined parkas, parasols, loose robes, flippers, and other gear flanked by a team of mules on one side and horses on the other. Kreighton Shaine rises to greet his guests, ignoring the eclectic assortment of equipment behind him.

“I appreciate your meeting with us here. We have lost many good Pathfinders in the wake of a recent attack by the Aspis Consortium, and we have struggled to fill the vacancies left by the fallen. In particular, I have focused on securing a Master of Spells.” He grimaces before adding, “Hopefully just an interim Master of Spells. The best candidate is one the Decemvirate assumed dead about ten years ago: Aram Zey’s predecessor, Sorrina Westyr.”

Zarta Dralneen shifts atop her stool for a moment before standing. “That’s not to say that the Decemvirate was callous in their decision to certify her death; investigators thought they had exhausted all available leads at the time. My archival team has since located several requisitions that Westyr wrote and approved for extremely rare ioun stones, all but one of which she returned to the Society’s vaults.” She holds up a small lead box. “This is significant because she was researching the nature of ioun stones and their interactions with a special wayfinder referred to as the wayfinder of many paths. The wayfinder can open a gateway to any number of locations, but each type of ioun stone serves as the key to just one very precise—often inconvenient—point.”

Kreighton Shaine finishes feeding a handful of oats to a mule as he adds, “Needless to say, few thought it worth testing further. However, Sorrina found the contraption intriguing and set to cataloguing as many of the destinations as possible. It may be that wherever this stone sent her proved lethal, yet it may also be that she is merely trapped, imprisoned, or otherwise waylaid. We want you to follow Master Westyr’s team and bring them back to Absalom if they’re alive—or whatever you can learn of their deaths if not.”

He takes the lead box from Zarta and places it atop an ornately carved wooden box. “Sepia ellipsoids are extremely uncommon, and this is one of a small few remaining in the Society’s possession; do not lose it. The other box holds the wayfinder of many paths, which I trust you will also keep safe. Perform whatever other preparations you must, and stop back here once you’re ready.”

Looks at the group of pathfinders gathered in front of him and adds. "Is there anything else you need to know?"

Female Human Unchained Rogue/ 1

Hello there:

I am acting as DM in a PbP game. One of the players has not posted on its threads on the last 11 days. He was also away before, but at least, he gave us a heads up on the matter.

The thing is the group has done most of the encounters without him.

Funny thing is, he has been posting in other threads with other characters.

Any advice on what should I do?

Thanks in advance.

;)

About the scenario:
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5-9.
After two years of blood and bravery, the Fifth Mendevian Crusade has struck a terrible blow to the Worldwound’s demons and reclaimed lost territory. The Pathfinder Society, as one of the crusade’s partners in this endeavor, has earned the right to explore and salvage what it can of the lost Sarkorian sites under Mendev’s control, and it has identified one ruin as a priority. In fact, the site seems to actively call to one agent in particular, a scarred survivor of abyssal experiments. Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury has asked the PCs to accompany this agent into the wasteland, where perhaps she might learn how to control her demonic half—or purge it completely.

What I expect from my players[b]

  • Be a registered member of Pathfinder Society Organized Play.
  • Apply & post with a complete, legal character of appropriate level.
  • Please include your PFS number for your submitted character on the Alias profile and/or post it to the discussion thread with the form I provide for information for your Chronicle Sheet. I am open to any format of character sheet, but please make sure all information is available and easy to find.
  • Make sure you are familiar with the rules included in the Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Guide. It's a free download and part of the core assumption.
  • Commit to check in and post at least once per day on weekdays. Post rate is key in keeping a PBP fresh and interesting to all who participate. I will always understand that life comes first, but this is Official Society Play.
  • Habitual stragglers will be asked to step down if I feel they are not carrying their weight as Pathfinders.
  • Recognize that the rules of Pathfinder Society Organized Play require the player to own the Additional Reasources used to build his/her character.
  • While I will not ask for any proof of ownership, I will expect to be provided with a link to the Online Reference Document when asked. Coding the links into your sheet will save time and is especially appreciated.

What my players will expect from me

  • Finalize tables by August 26, 2016, if not before then, and begin the game before 11:59 pm my time on August 27, 2016.
  • Update the Gameplay thread at least once per day during the week as well as once over the weekend or do my best to notify the group of the reason for the delay as soon as I am able.
  • Report our progress and send out Chronicle sheets at the conclusion of each scenario we run.
  • Respond in a timely manner to any questions or concerns.
I have a lot of affection for the Play-by-Post format. I like that it gives players the opportunity to really think through their character's actions, strategize and plan with their teammates and really flesh out their PC's personalities with (at least a little!) characterization and role-playing.
  • If you apply to this game, please be prepared to provide more in your posts than a one-line directive with all the flare and personality of "rook to queen bishop 4".

If you are interested, please, feel free to post below, with the following information:

  • Player Name
  • Character Name
  • PFS ID#
  • Faction
  • Race/Class/Level

I'm looking forward to a great Gameday. Let's have some fun!

About the scenario:
A Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for levels 5-9.

Recent events have left the Master of Spells Aram Zey unable to fulfill his duties, and without his expertise, the Pathfinder Society struggles to resolve pressing arcane matters. The Decemvirate has reopened the decade-old case of the most qualified replacement: Aram Zey's predecessor and former Master of Spells Sorrina Westyr, who disappeared while handling a powerful wayfinder that the Society has since kept closely guarded. It is up to the PCs to track down Sorrina Westyr—and bring back whatever remains.

Content in "Captive in Crystal" also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline of the Grand Lodge faction.

Venture Captain Sheila Heidmarch receives you in her office, in the city of Magnimar, Varisia.

Sheila's office is richly decorated with mementos of the earlier adventures she had in the company of her husband: suits of armor, some stuffed monsters, an ornated blade. She sits behind a long ebony table, with several silver cups and a water pitcher resting on its polished surface.

Next to her, a stocky black haired woman with eyebags and a worried expression sits in silence, looking at her hands.

As soon as the door closes, Sheila speaks.

"Be very welcome, Pathfinders. The situation is dire, and a friend of the Society needs your help. This is Jeminda, she works for the city of Magnimar.”

Respectfully, Sheila sits in silence, grabbing the hand of Jeminda, comforting her.

”A few weeks ago, I discovered that the small villaje of Ravenmoor hadn’t been paying its taxs to Magnimar for several years. The village’s yearly tax has never been large, so it is not surprising that the mistake has gone unnoticed for so long.” she pauses and drinks some water, continuing shortly.”My research suggested that they hadn’t been paying taxes for the last 15 years, and while a year’s worth of taxes might not be much, over the course of several years of missed payments and penalties, the amount due has climbed to 500 gp.

Of course I didn’t want to go to my superiors with this information before I had the Money, I was terrified I was to blame for the missed payments, so I decided to contact a tax collector I could trust: my brother in law, Elias.

Elias set for Ravenmoor, and sent me a letter from Galduria, seven days after he left. It has been two weeks since that missive and I’ve heard nothing from him.

I will be now responsible for the lack of the money and the disappearance of an employee of the free city of Magnimar. Please I beg you, travel to Ravenmoor as quickly and quietly as possible, and once there I need you to accomplish two tasks: to find out what happened to Elias and to collect the 500 gp owed in back taxes.“

Jeminda looks at Sheila, eyes in tears.

Sheila looks at the group.

”Will you help her, pathfinders?”

Liberty's Edge

Hey everyone!!

Several lodges in Spain are preparing an event for june 18th, the Free RPG Day...

We want it to be the GOBLIN DAY!!!

So besides the adventures of the series "WE BE GOBLINS!" we would like to play others adventures in which our beloved psycho midgets play important and funny parts.

I have a couple of scenarios in mind that I have already played such as:

The Frost Fur captives (3x01)
Rise of the goblin guild (4x01)

Could any of you be so kind of adding some more goblinoid fun to this list?

Thanks in advance!

T. (Clawdette)

Liberty's Edge

First of all, hello there people.

Second of all: I have started acting as a GM in the last weeks and sometimes I've seen things that have made me shrug, but after thinking for some seconds, I decided not to argue with the player to avoid stalling the session.

Yesterday this happened:

Player Character: Magus 3 / Rogue 1.

Combat round action(s): Moves to flank an enemy. Uses a Shocking Grasp WAND with his left hand. He makes a touch attack with his rapier, damage dice would be:
1d6 from the RAPIER + 3d6 Shocking Grasp + 1d6 sneak attack.

Can he do this? Is it legal?

If it is, what feats/abilities does he need to do this?

TYVM in advance!
