This is a recruitment thread for PFS scenario Thralls of the Shattered God. Description from the website:
After two years of blood and bravery, the Fifth Mendevian Crusade has struck a terrible blow to the Worldwound’s demons and reclaimed lost territory. The Pathfinder Society, as one of the crusade’s partners in this endeavor, has earned the right to explore and salvage what it can of the lost Sarkorian sites under Mendev’s control, and it has identified one ruin as a priority. In fact, the site seems to actively call to one agent in particular, a scarred survivor of abyssal experiments. Venture-Captain Jorsal of Lauterbury has asked the PCs to accompany this agent into the wasteland, where perhaps she might learn how to control her demonic half—or purge it completely. Content in “Thralls of the Shattered God” also contributes directly to the ongoing storyline of the Silver Crusade faction. My expectation is that you are able to post per day on weekdays.
If more than six players are showing interest, I'll come up with some method to select the ones to get in. This game starts on Saturday, August 27th.

The intermittent breeze off the Vanji River provides welcome respite from the jungle’s torrid oppression. The docks in Nantambu seem as busy as any in Absalom, Katapesh, or Sothis. Hundreds of dockhands move quickly to offload exotic cargo from vessels ranging from single- person canoes to fifty-foot-long river barges. All manner of items can be seen entering the city including rare animal pelts, fine linens, and fruits and vegetables from the far corners of Golarion. Just past the docks, vast open-air markets completely encompass the mosaic-decorated towers making up Nantambu’s inner city. Hundreds of glass chimes and beaded charms hang from the towers’ balconies and windows, casting a kaleidoscopic radiance across the city’s skyline. Another time, exploration of the jewel of the Mwangi Expanse would be a welcome excursion, however, Master of Scrolls Kreighton Shaine’s words to the party from before the journey’s start still ring clear. ”As I’m sure you’ve heard by now, the Society recently acquired what we believe to be the very core of the fabled Sky Key. The entirety of the organization is now focused on finding the four remaining pieces of the mysterious, fractured item, as well as finding any information we can regarding Numerian technology.” ”We received word than an agent in Nantambu has obtained a copy of A Thread of Silver. The original copy of this book was stolen from the Technic League in Numeria generations ago. Since that time, several copies have surfaced. In each case, however, the books’ owners were savagely murdered and the copies were destroyed by Technic League agents.” ”We don’t know if the book that was purchased is legitimate, but the very mention of its name is treacherous. Venture-Captain Nieford Sharrowsmith is off on an important expedition, so the Nantambu lodge is in the hands of our trusted associate, Aya Allahe. I need you to travel to the covert lodge—in the back of Sharrowsmith’s Exports on the outskirts of Nantambu. Take this coin and show it to the guards standing outside the inner sanctum. Tell them that you require an appraisal. They will recognize the coin and let Aya know you’ve arrived. Work with her to make sure the existence of the book remains a secret and see it safely to Absalom. No one must learn we purchased the book or of our operations in Nantambu.” The Master of Scrolls’s words fade from memory as the early morning sun continues its ascent into the clear Mwangi sky. You can make knowledge check on various topics mentioned here. (Although with Ibid in the party, I wonder why I bother…) Technic League
Technic League, Knowledge (local) DC 15:
The Technique League is a formerly secret society whose chief goal is the acquisition of personal and worldly power through magic and ancient technology.
Technic League, Knowledge (local) DC 20:
The League is incredibly protective of their secrets and power, and they ruthlessly hunt down those who leave Numeria with technology or knowledge thereof, including such books as A Thread of Silver. Those said to possess such jealously guarded secrets are often brutally murdered to maintain the League’s sole control of such technology.
Technic League, Knowledge (local) DC 30:
Many believe the Technic League is the true power behind Numeria’s ruler, Kevoth-Kul, who holds the title “Black Sovereign.” Members are said to meld technology into their very bodies, and use it to fuel their magic and vice-versa.
A Thread of Silver
A Thread of Silver, Knowledge (arcana) DC 15:
This incredibly rare book is said to contain an account of the first ventures into the largely unexplored Numerian dungeon known as Silver Mount.
A Thread of Silver, Knowledge (arcana) DC 20:
The original copy of this book was stolen from the Technic League, and since then the cabal has hunted down any who are said to own a copy, or know the secrets possessed within.
A Thread of Silver, Knowledge (arcana) DC 30:
Should the Pathfinder Society gain access to a legitimate copy of this rare book, it could provide incredible insight into the Sky Key and other Numerian technology that has heretofore been beyond the organization’s reach and understanding.
Nantambu
Nantambu, Knowledge (local) DC 10:
Nantambu is the Mwangi Expanse’s second largest city, with a population of over 14,000 people of mostly Zenj and Bonuwat tribal heritage. It is the home of the Magaambya, one Golarion’s oldest and most storied academies of arcane knowledge.
Nantambu, Knowledge (local) DC 15:
Members of Zenj tribes are believed to be the most populous of the Mwangi peoples, living in hundreds of small tribes in the jungles and savannas of the Mwangi Expanse. Some of the tribes live in villages alongside the region’s many rivers while others are nomadic herders who graze their cattle or goats in the Expanse’s grasslands and hills. The Bonuwat are seafarers, and as such are often the group most encountered by the outside world. The Mwangi found in ports such as Bloodcove or the Shackles tend to be Bonuwat. They are excellent fishermen and sailors.
Nantambu, Knowledge (local) DC 20:
Nantambu maintains a remarkable aura of security and normalcy despite the lack of defensive fortifications or a standing army, primarily due to its strong magical history.
Nantambu, Knowledge (local) DC 25:
The tallest tower in Nantambu is known as the Natambiyan. The gold-flecked tower is said to contain the Watcher’s Stone of Jatembe, a magical scrying globe used by Old-Mage Jatembe himself.
Nantambu's Magical history
Nantambu’s magical history, Knowledge (arcana or history) DC 15:
After Earthfall ushered in the Age of Darkness, it is said that Old-Mage Jatembe and his Ten Magic Warriors fought to reclaim fragments of civilization and enlightenment in the aftermath of the comprehensive cultural collapse. Their followers were said to have settled Nantambu near the end of the Age of Anguish and built the Magaambya to stand as Garund’s center of learning.
Nantambu’s magical history, Knowledge (arcana or history) DC 20:
The magic perfected by Old-Mage Jatembe and taught in the Magaambya today blends arcane study with natural magic, creating a unique hybrid of scholarship and druidism.
Nantambu’s magical history, Knowledge (arcana or history) DC 25:
Old-Mage Jatembe is said to have learned secrets whispered by the severed head of the ancient god of serpentfolk, Ydersius, before sewing shut its lips once more. He also slew the King of Biting Ants and sealed away the ruins of the Doorway to the Red Star. He was even known to have communed with angels and devils as an equal, using any means available to ensure the safety and survival of his people.
Nantambu’s magical history, Knowledge (arcana or history) DC 30: Legends provide few details of the fate of Old- Mage Jatembe, however, there are those who believed he was actually an incarnation of Nethys, the All-Seeing God of Magic.

Before we start... does anyone have the technologist feat? :)
SRD wrote: Normal: You treat all skill checks made against technology as if they were untrained skill checks. This may mean that you cannot attempt certain skill checks, even if you possess ranks in the skill in question. Which would mean knowledge checks cannot be made without the feat?

The group of seasoned Pathfinders agents is summoned to a basement in of the Grand Lodge’s outbuildings. This cold subterranean records hall is dim and quiet. In front of a heavy wooden door stands Venture-Captain Shevala Iorae, one of the Society’s premier experts on the ruined siege towers near Absalom. She waves and begins speaking eagerly as she approaches, the flame of her candle struggling against her pace. "Hello! I’m sorry to summon you to such a bleak meeting space, but I’m gathering intelligence that I can really get only here. Come, you’ll have to see for yourselves." Venture-Captain Iorae gestures toward the wooden door behind her, saying, "Before we go in, tell me—do you know much about the Red Redoubt of Karamoss?" Knowledge (arcana) DC20:
Karamoss was a wizard from Numeria known as the Machine Mage. He allegedly spent decades researching automatons inside the notorious technological dungeon known as Silver Mount, and was said to possess unparalleled mastery over all kinds of constructs and machines. Knowledge (arcana) DC25:
The red metal from which the Red Redoubt was constructed is called djezeteel, and has an enhancing effect on magic.
Knowledge (arcana) DC30:
The robotic army that Karamoss used to attack Absalom is rumored to have been built within the siege tower itself, using forges powered by elemental energy from the Plane of Fire.
--- Knowledge (engineering) DC15:
The entire Red Redoubt was built in a single night out of a strange red skymetal alloy called djezeteel, said to have been invented by Karamoss himself.
Knowledge (engineering) DC20:
Though the aboveground sections of the tower were destroyed, the underground levels seemed to be sound. As far as anyone knows, there could be dozens of unexplored levels below the surface.
Knowledge (engineering) DC25:
Supplying power to the tower—and creating an army of constructs—would have required an immense amount of energy. The tower was likely equipped with a powerful energy source, possibly a massive Numerian power generator or some kind of magical reactor.
--- Knowledge (local) DC15:
The uppermost surviving levels of the Red Redoubt are considered relatively safe. Junior members of the Pathfinder Society are often run through obstacle courses here set up by their mentors.
Knowledge (local) DC20:
One recent such excursion took an unexpected turn when a team of Pathfinder recruits stumbled into an undiscovered sublevel of the siege tower. Since then, Pathfinder Society activity in the area has increased dramatically.
Knowledge (local) DC25: Venture-Captain Shevala Iorae has led the new efforts to explore the Red Redoubt, and she has sent scouting teams into progressively deeper levels
of the tower. For the last few days, Shevala has not left the Grand Lodge, instead remaining cloistered below in a darkened records room.

Back in Absalom, the group of Pathfinders find themselves enjoying a few weeks of quiet relaxing. The approaching winter takes away the Absalom's oppressing heat, and replaces it with pleasant cool and gentle winds. A very nice change from Segang jungle. Soon the group starts to notice there is quite an unusual number of Pathfinders in the city. A great number of Society members flock back from the expedition to Worldwound, battle-weary but jubilant. Besides some debriefings, there seems be not much official business, so the halls of Grand Lodge keeps busy with Pathfinders telling tales of their recent adventures. One day the group is summoned to Grand Lodge, where they join dozens of other Pathfinders on a lawn in the shadow of Skyreach. Many of the assembled agents hold fliers that appeared about the lodge the day before, hinting at a special announcement to be made here this morning. Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng emerges from the crowd followed by an assistant carrying a large stool that she sets on the grass. Dreng spryly clambers up to stand on the stool and addresses the small crowd. “Thank you for joining me here, Pathfinders,” the milky-eyed venture-captain shouts. “Absalom has a long and illustrious history, and today we add a little more to that ongoing record. The esteemed councilor Hadrel Grayrain of Diobel recently passed away, leaving a vacancy on Absalom’s Grand Council. We’re still many months away from the annual inauguration of councilors, and with numerous acts pertaining to Diobel on the schedule, the vassal city is eager to get a new representative. In fact, with Absalom’s assistance, Diobel’s Kortos Consortium has co-bankrolled a festival spread across much of the Foreign Quarter. Ostensibly, this is an occasion to honor the deceased and welcome his replacement. Virtually everyone also sees this as a chance to advertise and earn some new business.” Drandle Dreng clears his throat and shrugs. “Well, the Society is no exception. We’ve already chipped in some gold to help this be a success, and in doing so we’ve received numerous invitations to the more exclusive events. With our recent work in Mendev, we’ve earned considerable goodwill. This is a good opportunity to consolidate those gains by seeing and being seen by the upper crust—as well as hobnobbing with the common people.” He chuckles and gives the crowd a smile. “All at the Society’s expense! Have a good time, keep an ear out for interesting leads, and represent the Society well!” This draws a pleasant murmur among the crowd, albeit many veteran pathfinders seem very surprised with this sudden generosity. "We'll be starting the festivities with an event of our own," Dreng continues, hushing his audience. "Pathfinder Society is hosting an informal social gathering with drinks and appetizers to welcome visiting dignitaries and other people of note. Who knows even some representatives of Grand Council will join us. I invite you to demonstrate your many skills for our guests' amusement" The venture-captain then hops off the stool and mills about the crowd, recruiting some help to carry some of the Society's relics for display.

Hi,
When I try to add a new payment method via "My Account" the system just displays "Important: Please add a billing address" after I've given the address. Any way to get around this? |
