By the standards of Seranus, Arrana is a city girl. Born and raised in the outskirts of the planet's capital city (pop. 8.3 million) Arrana spent the summers of her youth working in the enormous slaughterhouses, as the ranches from thousands of kilometers around drove their herd in for processing. The work was hard, but it make Arrana as tough and strong as you please--and taught her how to use a knife and shotgun besides.
But where there are cattle, there are rustlers, and when she was 22 her older brother was killed by grox-thieves during driving season. Without hesitation the young woman joined the posse the local Marshals organized, and acquitted herself so well in bringing the gang to justice that the marshals recommended her to the local Arbites precinct.
Arranna thrived as an Arbitrator recruit, earning the nickname "Adroit" for her knack at stealth, gunplay, combat driving, and good relations on the street, graduating in the top 15% of her class...but alas, only the best 10% were accepted as new Arbitrators. Distraught, Arranna was drowning her sorrows in a local pub when a recruiter for the soon-to-be Serenus 1st caught her attention. She signed up on the spot, and here she is.
