From the book:
Rules wrote:
"Vindicator's Shield (SU): A vindicator can channel energy into his shield as a standard action. You are channeling energy into your shield so yes it eats up one of your daily uses of channel energy.
As a sidenote: It took around 6 months (iirc) for the first errata on the actual Core rule set, so I wouldn't expect the errata/FAQ for the APG soon, especially since they are putting together a complete FAQ currently, in addition to their usual productions.
2 years, no errata, still disappointed, however, I'd counter with this: most other channel abilities say "expand a use/two uses/etc" when describing an effect. Turn undead reads: "You can, as a standard action, use one of your uses of channel positive energy to ..."
This seems more like a descriptive thing, like "a paladin can call out to the powers of good to..." or "a shadowdancer can use raw shadow to...". It just happens that channel energy doesn't take to synonyms well.
