I took a quick gander about the forums with the search function, and couldn't find what I was looking for, so here goes.

NAME: Adferant
ETYMOLOGY: from the Latin "adfero": to impart, to contribute.
CONCEPT: a hive of inconceivably strange creatures that impart their unique abilities to their kin.

Okay, so I lied a bit - it's not really that new. Sue me. Or wait - don't sue; if they can put a license-free Ersatz-Godzilla in the official books, we can rip stuff too, right? :P

Seriously though; I'd love to hear some ideas how people would go about crafting these magnificent little critters. Intelligent discussions and what not. Build these bad boys from the ground up.
What CR-range would they be? Aberration, magical beast, or something else? How would their mutation-sharing work? At what range? How powerful should each mutation be? There's lots of factors to consider.

Personally, I was thinking a regular base Sliv-aherm, Adferant should be about a CR 5-7 aberration, statistically on the lower fringes of its CR-power-curve; then we could slap on the individual mutations. Depending on the mutation, the Adferant posessing it might increase its CR, but Adferants that receive those powers from their kin don't change in CR. Mutations could work as auras, anywhere from 60 to 100 feet. I would avoid mutations that change ability scores, instead translating those directly to the bonuses they provide.

C'mon, Paizo community - let's do this!

While the title is rather self-explanatory, I'll elaborate a bit, just to be clear: I want to know what your opinions are in as far as must-have races/class-abilities/feats/spells/items for dungeon-crawling are concerned, plus the justification for your choice(s). Complete character builds not required. All things considered, let's stick with official products, a single character, standard rules (WBL for example) and limit ourselves to level 13.

Looking for an overarching plot to kick off your new campaign with? Look no further!

This post is a repository for basic plot ideas that anyone can contribute to. All you need is a BBEG, a McGuffin, a method, and a goal. Each entry should be formatted in those four lines, and be as concise yet precise as possible. An optional fifth line could contain notes of interest, restrictions, complications etc. ...

An example:

BBEG: Ganondorf, thief-prince
McGuffin: the TriForce
Method: make-a-wish
Goal: attain absolute power, rule the world
Complication: TriForce has 3 parts; PCs control 1st, NPC princess controls 2nd

Alright, Paizo community - let's get this show on the road!

We start with a basic Stone Giant, CR 8. We reduce its HD by 3; according to the Bestiary, that would drop it towards CR 6. Then we apply the Young Creature template, and end up with something that should be CR 5.
But with an AC breaching 20, 60-ish HP, and an attack at +12 for 1d10+9, this thing looks to be stronger (if smaller) than its CR-compatriot the Troll. I feel like I should beef it up to CR 6, but I'd like some peer-opinions. I can post a statblock if you want more details.
Thanks in advance...

They had been scouring town after town, tavern after tavern for two weeks straight now, and still no adventurer worthy of their own prowess had been found to join them in their quest. Then, one day, they saw an entire tavern's patronage flee in terror, yelling "Monsters! Monsters in the tavern!" as they stumbled by.
They nodded silently, drew blades, steeled themselves for what was to come, and entered.
What they found was no less than six Trolls, all awkwardly trying to sit on the far too small chairs, while an unassumingly-looking - if small - Gnome was innocently trying to convince the barkeep he was "only trying to by some ales for his buddies and him".
"He's hired," they chimed in unison.

I've been tinkering around with some funny/fluffy/memorable character ideas, and came up with the most hilarious thing: an undersized Gnome that has Trolls as friends - he got tired of being picked on for his size, so one day his imaginary "big friend" came to life and tossed his bullies around some. Picking a Summoner's Eidolon evolutions right can get you a fully-working pseudo-Troll companion by level 11, including size, rend and fast healing, so no problem there. Thing is, I'm looking for TrollS, plural. Provided a DM would allow it, of course, I'd love to get a Troll cohort (as per the Leadership feat) plus add Trolls to the Summon Monster list.

So I started doing some research. Looking at CRs of monstrous cohorts and most summoned critter options (referencing the OGL SRD for a full list in both cases) puts them at about the same power as a level 8 cohort, and would park them in the Summon Monster V list (including alignment-based templates). Does this sound about right?

I'm well aware that Trolls have regeneration, which makes them pretty powerful - not to mention that summoning a Fiendish Troll gives it resist 10 to both acid and fire. But let's not forget that certain other options, especially the summoned ones (I'm looking at you, Demons/Angels!) come with a crudload of utility, and that other options have vastly improved attack statistics.

I like to think it all balances out in the end, but still; I'd really appreciate some feedback from people with both different perspectives and more experience in the field than poor little old me. I'm looking forward to your reactions!

Friendly greetings from Belgium!
